I have been with policy expert now for a number of years and although I have never made a claim so cannot comment on that side, I have contacted them numerous times to change details or renew and have always found the customer service to be of a very high standard. From short queuing times to courteous and helpful staff. Unfortunately though policy expert massively let themselves down this time. I am moving home and contacted them to give details about the house and was given a very best quote of £251. I declined this, went on a comparison site and got a deal with policy expert for £181. Totally not acceptable to have such little thought for loyalty.

Good morning, Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. As a broker, we offer a variety of different products with various different insurers. This means that some of the products we are able to offer online, are not always ones that we can offer over the phone. I understand that there is a fairly noticeable price difference with the quote we gave you and the quote you did online, however, this may be due to a difference in cover levels and the policy itself may not be the same. Nonetheless, I am glad to hear that you have insured with us at a price you're happy with for a further 12 months. It made me happy initially, but after printing my documents I found an omission on the number of external doors on my property. I attempted to have the error corrected but your assistant insisted on cancelling my policy and raising a new one - at a substantially increased premium. I said that was not acceptable and she offered me a discount and a £20 M&S voucher. I accepted on that basis but I have not received the M&S voucher. I am therefore not so happy now. Please send the voucher as promised.

I can see that this voucher was only requested 10 days ago and therefore you should be expecting your voucher within the next 11 days or so. The level of service from the member of staff I dealt with was very poor. It was a women, with a foreign accent and she was difficult to understand. I had to say I would call back at one point due to the issue, however when I called back the next day I got her again! She was very insensitive given the situation (I was taking on House insurance for my deceased mothers house). And the member of staff made this very difficult for me and was not understanding. She was not listening to me properly, I had to continually repeat myself and spell things out for her. It was extremely difficult for me however I had to follow the discussion to the end in order to attain the renewal.

Yes but we couldn’t stay with them as we needed buildings and contents insurance on our new house but we wasn’t going to be living in it straight away and you couldn’t provide the insurance.

The price was good and so to were reviews. I can't print off documents though and have requested these be sent on to me however dispute phoning twice I still haven't had them.

If you are thinking of taking out a Building and Contents insurance you have already decided that the chance of your insurer paying out on a claim might marginally be better than the risk of some misfortunate striking your property. You must also be presuming that any disaster event is going to be curtailed to fit within the narrow prescribed limits this insurer defines or your robber is a complaint robber who chooses to work within the narrow limits again defined by your insurer. Having agreed with all that you then will have not problem to totally agreeing with each aspect of the frequently repeated script which ensures your assenting to exclude all other considerations. If you are like me you are left seriously worried that should some misadventure strike rather than being covered for the unexpected you will left with hassle, argument and without cover because life has chosen to hit you in a way that your insurer has written escape clauses to exclude. Having said that Policy Expert is no worse than others, just don't expect to be covered for anything more than the most narrow and routine of incidents when you have been a scrupulous diligent occupier without a seconds lapse of attention. They are beyond reproach and we are the victims in both circumstances.

Not happy my payment was taken before I renewed even though I told you when I took up the policy last year I did not want an automatic renewal. I have again reiterated not to renew automatically. Let's hope you take note this time.

We contacted you via email/letter prior to your renewal confirming that your policy was due for renewal, in this email/letter we confirmed that if we did not hear from you, we would assume that you were happy for us to automatically renew the policy and take payment. Therefore, as we did not hear from you, your policy with us automatically renewed and the payment was taken.
