DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Most unhelpful company in the world. Me and my partner got stuck in a foreign country due to Covid19 and we traveled before there where any travel restrictions made. They still haven’t even responded till this day we have been home now over a week and had to pay everything out of our own pocket couldn’t get hold of them I think there insurance is a SCAM!

My husband has been stuck on the a12 for 5 and half hours. After he dropped medicine to his dad. The RAC have been absolutely appalling. We were meant to be priority at 9.10 as my daughter was in car. Nope. Duty of care as gone out the window with the company.

Terrible DO NOT USE. After i had my black box fitted the car would not start and was completely immobilized I rang the insurance company they told me to ring the installers who told me to ring the insurers after 2 hours they said I would have to wait 2 days for someone to come back out.

Got hit by a tree and had to make a claim. Made the call and was then given a ref number and a phone number of co op insurance who were my insures not RAC. Lots call and messing about on a 0345 number which is a premium number 9p a min. First few mins were of cause press 1 and so on . Got paid out no probs less the £350 excess. Didnt replace the car but because it was my fault the tree hit my car and they paid out it meant i had to pay the full years policy. No goodwill please come back or any thing . 1 call was the entire effort RAC put into my policy so wont be back and i would urge u to look elsewere. Hope the breakdown service i have isnt as bad

DO NOT GET BLACK BOX INSURANCE FROM THESE PEOPLE ! I went with RAC for my son because I thought I could trust them . Being the RAC you think they would be a reputable company . WRONG ! This was my sons 3rd year of insurance and we never had a problem with his previous insurer or his driving . In fact it was Tesco would actually rewarded him with extra miles for good driving at the end of the month . Should have realised it was trouble after the first 19 miles he’d driven . Received a red warning for driving too often in an urban area and at night . Totally ridiculous as we live in an urban area . Why insure someone who lives in an urban area if you’re not allowed to drive in it ! Anyway after a long conversation on the phone they removed it . Then suddenly he got 2 more red warnings in succession for breaking too hard on 9 occasions in a month . If someone brakes in front of you or pulls out are you supposed to just hit them then . Then they said he drove at 31 mph in a 30 zone . Who’s to say their box is the same as the speedo . No one wanted to come and check and the guy was very arrogant on the phone when I asked them to . Finally they said they were going to cancel his policy because of these stupid restrictions . Their only advice was to drive below the speed limit to be sure . Not very helpful at all . If they had cancelled his policy it would have had to be declared on future applications and then his insurance would have gone sky high , so I bit the bullet and cancelled it myself before they could do any damage . It meant he lost no claims bonus but saved us a few thousand in renewal elsewhere. NEVER EVEN THINK ABOUT INSURING WITH RAC . Read reviews first . My mistake was I didn’t because if I had I’d never have used them from all the bad reviews on here . Good luck anyone who has .

RAC black box insurance is the biggest con the world has. I was driving home from the football match on the 22/2/20. Traffic is bad as it’s match day, I was travelling at 40mph (the speed limit) On a duel carriage way (the road could quite easily be 60mph) a ambulance was right behind me with lights on, I couldn’t get in other lane as it was busy so I sped up to 63mph (alright it was over limit) but in this case on the high way code it says you can speed up to move out of the way. I never over took the ambulance or anything which is illegal to do that, I moved into the other lane about 1/4 mile up road and that was that, back to normal driving. I got a email and a letter saying my insurance is getting cancelled for excessive speed limit. Now this is first time I’ve actually been told about my driving, my overall score is good, I’ve done this to simply get out of way of a ambulance the was in a emergency. RAC are now trying to charge me £189 for THEM cancelling my insurance. They never gave me a reason on the email for cancellation I had to ring them. Anyone else heard of this utter bollox cause I’m not paying that.

Insured car through go-compare was cheapest option available, Customer service was excellent and very helpful with all calls. Slight warning though, they will automatically renew your policy if you do not cancel, Ended up with 2 policy's on the same car for a short time. However when I spoke to RAC they were happy to close the policy and refunded money taken.

Surprised by the poor reviews but then I can only review the commercial team, I have been insured with them for some years and have never had less than excellent customer service. I have now retired and sold my van and sadly no longer need to deal with them, Jo in particular has been first class, always friendly whilst efficient in looking after my interests.

Holiday insurance: intentionally misleading on the website. I purchased the top level of cover and read all the policy info on there. Headline figure of £3000 valuables cover. What the website doesn't tell you ANYWHERE even in the key features is that it is £500 per item. That is lost in the small print in the policy documents which you don't get until you have purchased. Lost my wedding ring on holiday and couldn't get a single penny despite a premium of nearly £300. Made formal complaint and polite complaint to Directors and wasn't even given the courtesy of a direct reply. Awful awful service and maliciously deceitful. Sharp and untrustworthy.

Had insurance that was coming in at £65/month - moved house from Edinburgh to Glasgow and they informed me that my monthly premium will nearly 3X to £160. Laughable considering other insurers will still insure me for the same amount as I was previously paying To begin with. I think it’s just a ploy to rip off their customers who don’t want to be paying admin/cancellation fees + the cost of deposits to start a new policy with another company. Dirty business practice if you ask me...

Terrible service do not use. I setup my insurance and was emailed to confirm I did not need to send my no claims cert. My insurance was then cancelled 2 months later without any further correspondence, due to me not sending it. When I challenged and sent them their email proof, they tried to put my premium up by £500 even though it matched what was originally quoted. Complete jokers... They then took the money off my credit card a day before Xmas and I had to wait a month for a refund. Nice...

Terrible service don't use!!!!! No claims bonus was 20 or so days past 2 years old. No clear notification where no Claims bonus is entered, that they must be less than two years old. Unfortunately I'm not an insurance expert so did not know this. been an rac customer for over ten years in relation to my car breakdown. Will be cancelling that as well. Customer service rude and not even worthy of a star.

Low Quotes on compare websites to Huck you in & hit you with massive price, I don't know how they are still allowed on compare websites. This company under cuts genuine quotes then does not give you a "buy it now" option, so you have to ring up and then BOOM! The slick sales patter and the friendly sounding sales manner is all a ploy to distract from the fact that the quote was nothing other than a door-to-door sales man sticking his foot in the door. The quotes are fake, You will get ripped off, AVOID THE FIRM......Ohhh and if you do get sucked in by the sales patter, when you realize its not a good policy, and you cancel it...DO NOT EXPECT A REFUND..THEY WILL KEEP YOUR MONEY AND CLAIM ITS FOR ADMIN FEES

They cancelled my insurance 5 days ago and did not tell me. Pure chance I checked my personal emails before I drove home from work today. They sent 4 emails at 2.50pm today telling me they had cancelled my policy, were taking numerous charges - cancellation fee, etc from my account and that I could buy a new policy from them with higher fees. Why? Because they say they didn't receive my no claims discount information. This is untrue as I ccd the email to my personal email address so I would have a copy of the info sent to them. Twice I have called them. No answers and each time I am told someone will phone me back, no one does. I think there should be laws against the way they treat their customers - not even the courtesy of a phone call to me. They don't even deserve a 1 star rating.

Absolutely disgusted. We were told 90 mins and 4 and a half hours later we took a taxi home which rac paid for. Meanwhile I have to get back to where the car is parked up tomorrow morning. I never realised that a company as established as rac could be so inept
