Glasses Frames and Lenses Ltd are a brilliant company. They're the only online glasses and re-glazing service I would ever use. I posted my frames late Tues morning, received a 'received' email early Weds morning, a 'dispatched' email Weds afternoon, and the glasses arrived Thurs morning! Where else can you get service like that! Plus their work is always to a very high standard. NB: I'm a repeat customer.

MY first order with Glassesframesandlenses was in November 2011. I was rather apprehensive about ordering varifocals on line. However, after talking with Tina at GF&L she quickly gave me the confidence to order. I am so glad I did, the glasses arrived and were perfect and £300 cheaper than a colleague of mine who had EXACTLY the same glasses and lens only the prescription being different ! I am now going back for my next pair and I have received excellent service and co-operation from Tina once again and Amanda. They are extremely efficient and make you feel like a valued customer and an old friend. Can't wait to get my new glasses. If anyone has any apprehension about trying GF&L don't , go for it, you won't be disappointed ! Jane Davis Bromley, Kent

Excellent service, had two pair of glasses, one pair was safety glasses and the other normal glasses. Varifocal lenses and at price even Specsavers couldn't beat, very impressed and happy customer!

I was recommended to this site by a colleague, as their offices are on the same site as my own. I thought I would give it a try, not really holding much expectation. I assumed there would be limited choice, and standard \"cheap\"" frames. How wrong could I be?! Amazing choice of frames

I obtained a quote for my new prescription from the opticians where I had my sight test. It was eyewateringly expensive. I had previously called in at your premises to view the selection of frames you had and to get a quote for lenses. The quote was for a much more reasonable price, so I made an appointment to come to choose a frame. I was just a little disappointed with the choice of frames you had, but you explained that you were about to restock I did find frames I was happy with. The bill for my glasses and two pairs for my husband as well was only a little dearer than the optician in town wanted just for my glasses. When they were ready, you fitted them quickly and efficiently. For the first time ever I have not had to return for adjustments. In addition, I am extremely pleased with the 'stay clean' coating which cost only an extra £10. Previously I cleaned my glasses at least once a day. Now I go days without feeling the need to clean them. All in all I can and have recommended you unreservedly to others.

I am pleased you are seeing the benefits of the super hydrophobic coating; I have it on all my glasses and it really is well worth the money. Service from all members of staff was excellent, their main concern being that you would be completely satisfied with the end result. I bought distance glasses for driving and golf, reading glasses for close up work and a pair of varifocus glasses for everyday use. I initially had problems with the varifocus glasses which were immediately replaced to my satisfaction. I will certainly reuse their services when I come to replace my current prescription.

-- Price: Although the prices were ok at first, there were hidden surcharges (PRISM surcharge). If you seen the same frame at similar price elsewhere, please make sure that GFL prices are really what you pay for. -- Delivery: They don't care about customer's delivery address. My delivery (work place) and billing addresses were different, but they shipped it to the billing address. Obviously, it was not delivered due to my absence at home during office hours. I had to take a half a day day off from work to go and collect it from Royal mail office -- Waiting time: They have a long waiting time (3-4 weeks) as opposed what they claim in their website. They almost forget your order until you explicitly send an email asking for the status. Then they seem to reply such that 'your glasses are due in today but send for glazing today/tomorrow'. This may not happen until you ask for the status next time. -- Packaging is extremely poor without any impact protection. The glass inside its box was also freely moving without any protection (like cloth or some sort of bubble wrap). There is a high chance that this will break the glass (especially non-polycarbonate ones) or the screws in the frames would break loose soon after delivery. If you compare it to Amazon that delivers small cheapo items with massive protection, you'd be surprised about GFL's lack of protection for a £100+ glass. -- Quality: The ONLY good thing that makes me give them 'Normal' is that the glasses are just fine.

Dear Dr Vijayarangakannan, thank you for your review and I am sorry to learn that you did not have a pleasant shopping experience with us. Let me address some of your comments: The error on the delivery address was down to human error with a member of the team and I take on board your comments and also offer my sincere apologies that you were inconvenienced. I too would have been frustrated with this aspect had I been in your situation. In respect of the prism surcharge, this information is available once a prescription has been entered and customers are made aware of this. Unfortunately there is a slightly different manufacturing process for prescriptions with prism and we are charged by the lab for this. I shall however ensure that surcharge information is made available on the Site to potential customers. Your order took 15 working days to be dispatched to you, the delay being caused due to a problem on the left lens that was noted during the glazing process, and the lab therefore had to reorder the lens. I believe you were made aware of this at the time. With regards to your comments about our packaging, all frames aredispatched in a clear plastic glasses bag in a glasses case with a lens cloth, and are packaged in a bubble wrap padded envelope for protection. If you have advised that your glasses were loose in the case without the plastic protection and cloth, I can only imagine that this element has been missed on this occasion. As a family business we do pride ourselves on our customer service, for which we have received a great many reviews. I therefore apologise sincerely with regards to your rare experience; it is certainly not in line with the good reputation we have worked so hard to achieve. I opted for the reglaze service on rimless glasses with high-index lenses. The ordering process was painless and my specific instructions were taken into account and confirmed by GFL via email. The glasses were returned to me within a week. The quality is first rate, the product is exactly as ordered and the price was approx 50% of what I would have paid at a high street optician. I have no complaints whatsoever. The only area for improvement I would suggest is that the glasses and case were posted back in a jiffy bag, there was no damage but I think a box would be better. I will be using them for my next order and would recommend them to others.

I recently bought a pair of specs from Glasses Frames and Lenses Ltd and I was very pleased with the service. Firstly, it was local, so a quick walk to the end of the village and I was there. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I was told that my glasses would be ready in about a weeks time, but I was notified only a couple of days later that they were ready for collection. One of the staff even offered to bring them to me when picking her children up at the same school as ours later that day. And to top it all, they were less than half the price that I would have expected to pay on the High Street. I would recommend this company to anyone looking to buy specs in the future.

Sadly I cannot recommend glasses frames and lenses; they made my glasses incorrectly twice and subsequently I ended up paying for another company to make my glasses from scratch. Friendly staff but, on this occasion unable to supply the goods.

Dear Claire, thank you for your review. I am however very disappointed and do not feel it is helpful to other potential customers in that it is not representative of the facts. You will recall that the reason you originally could not see out of your lenses was due to the fact that you had input your sphere value as '-5.00' and not '-0.50' when you had placed your order online with us. Once this error had been discussed, at no additional cost to you we remanufactured your 2 sets of lenses to the correct prescription. When you subsequently advised that despite the new lenses being manufactured correctly you still could not see, we suggested that you contacted your optician for a re-check of your prescription. Your optician confirmed that your prescription was correct and ventured that a possible reason for you not being able to see was due to a reading on his focimeter suggesting that one of the axis figures was slightly out. Having returned your lenses to us, our lab manager put your lenses onto our calibrated focimeter, and produced print outs to confirm that your prescription was correct against your prescription, and met with British standards . We had confirmed your pupillary distance with you and now also confirmed your new lenses to be correct to your prescription. We therefore felt we had no choice but to return your glasses to you as your optician needed to explain why, when your lenses were to your prescription and met British standards, you still could not see....... I am sorry that on this occasion we could not deliver in line with your expectations. Kind regards, Tina Mason Managing Director.

The staff at GFL are really friendly to deal with and cannot do enough for you. I would recommend them to anyone wanting to purchase lenses on line, the service is quick and professional. The added bonus being that lenses are way cheaper than going to the high street.

We would have been happier if they could have provided an optician to supply the prescription. We are of an age where we feel uncomfortable having a prescription done and then not ordering glasses. It also means we have to travel somewhere to have our eyes tested. Finally if there are problems with the new spectacles there would be only one point of contact - are the glasses wrong or is it the prescription? We are old and therefore have a different view to younger customers but you did ask.
