Absolute godsend these new Halfords Auto Centres Saved my bacon twice now. The Book and choose a time to suit you is fab and the lads at Gateshead Retail World are VERY fast and good.

My car was serviced by Park Royal Halfords / July 2017 they charged me for new brake pads, that they never fitted, and even told me directly they had done the work. Customer services put this down to an honest mistake?! Just to summarise, this Halfords garage obtained money for safety-critical work they didn’t carry out and in so doing jeopardised my family’s safety.

Wife took her mini for MOT and it failed on a "spongey" brake peddle so rear brakes were replaced then whilst this was being done a further fault on the ABS hydraulic pump was supposedly found costing over 2k to rectify in the meantime no driving as brake failure was imminent. I took her car to another MOT test centre who thoroughly checked the braking system and guess what no ABS hydraulic fault was found, the car passed MOT. Please be very wary of Halfords and take a second opinion as in this case we saved over 2k on a fault which clearly was not evident when checked independently.

WORST SERVICE AND WORST ATTITUDE Couple of weeks ago I have done the MOT in Halford Slough autocentre. The first MOT was failed due to N/S front tyre 17" worn out. Then I made another appointment here to get it replaced and paid 97£. After waiting for 3hrs, they told me it's done and let my vehicle pass the MOT. HOWEVER, 2 months later, I realized they have probably swapped the N/S rear tyre when I sent my car for service in another Halfords autocentre in Reading. The N/S front tyre has 0mm tread remaining now and I have been driving with this car everyday for 2 month !!! Today, I went to this shop again hoping they can rectify their mistake before I can drive to work on Monday. The reception guy (a 40 aged man with glasses) told us they cannot do anything as there is only one technician working. Then I requested him to at least check my car to confirm if they have actually swapped the wrong tyre. He then became very impatient and went out with us unwillingly. He had a look at the passenger side then told us he would guess they have actually swapped the rear tyre. I told him the rear tyre is not supposed to be swapped as a good one and I wish them to swap it back and put the new tyre into N/S front. He then became very unhappy. He told me was not sure if I got the tyre swapped elsewhere and came here bluffing for a free tyre since so many customers have done this to them. He told me I could contact the manager but he would make a note to ensure I will not get a new tyre free of charge. I cannot believe they could say these to their customer.

I made a online booking for interim service and wheel alignment Halfords Autocentre .following day they postponed my appointment in 2 days time. I took my car early morning to auto centre and I was told car can be collect end of day . 2 hours later I was phoned and told ,there are some faults on my vehicle .I told them to fix them. end of the day I went to collect my vehicle I was given bill of £440 excluding to my online payment. they advertised free oil change but they have charged for oil change ,they have changed 2 tyres but prices are £43 more than their online price. they changed my wiper blades which I changed them last year. also charged £200 for track rod end . I have complained to customer service then I found they charged twice for wheel alignment. my advised do not go for free check at the they kill you.

I recently went into Dorchester Halfords to purchase some light bulbs for my car. I bought a twin pack of bulbs for £16.99 and a side light for £7.99, also had a member of staff fit them for me -absolutely fine, pleasant process. However when I got to the checkout I was disgusted at the price it cost for fitting two bulbs into my vehicle. £8.00 per light. Which I wasn't aware of the time, nobody mentioned it would be so 'pricey' and to be charged PER BULB is ridiculous. If I had been aware of the "charge" i would definitely not bothered with having them fitted for me. But once they had been fitted I could hardly refuse to pay. Total cost of my visit £48.00. Not a happy customer.

Booked van in on phone only because AA warranty said it had to go there, turned up with van not booked in. Rang on Thursday told they was on with it rang Friday for a up date told by a different person they had just started it. Fitted new duel mass flywheel and full clutch £1032.00. AA warranty have now inspected parts and will only pay for clutch slave cylinder as they say it did not need full clutch and duel mass.

I went with an a/c issue after having the system serviced only to be told that I needed a new a/c compressor at £495,took the car to a college veichle dept to be told there was little gas in the system and the a/c compressor was fine.HALFORDS have tried to rip me off how many others have they done this to.

Tried to book air con service and clean at Hedge End, all paid up front and booked in. Dropped it off and told it would take a couple of hours. Called 15 minutes later to be told they can't service my car. Why didnt they realise this when I booked it on line, or when I dropped it off. When I asked about getting my money back I was told to try and do this over the internet. Obviously left messages and not heard anything back. No customer service whatsoever.

Took car in to have expensive job done and MOT, a month later and the car not only hasn't been fixed but has been further damaged and had to take to another garage to have the work redone ( paying twice for the privilege). Absolute nightmare totally awful service. Trust my ......

Booked a service and MOT for Monday, they rang to change to Thursday as they said the system shouldn't have allowed me to book. Passed MOT but advised I needed rear pads. Just driven the car back 60 miles home and started hearing noise from beneath the car. Splash guard had been scraping along the ground for at least 10 miles. AA on the way to investigate. Avoid!!

Dire customer service, verbal abuse from staff and despite trying, over a six month period, I was never able to get my brakes pads changed under 'Brakes4life'. I was told that this scheme is better known as 'Con4life' - sounds about right. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Told me i needed new brakes and discs and wouldnt last more then 6 months. They just lied to get my money as took it to another garage and they showed me my brakes and disks and they were barely worn. Absolute liers. Disgusted with the company

Apalling lack of serviceBeen going there 3 years plus. Went in with noisey front tyres ( a assume thats what it was) they changed the 2 front tyres and track rod mounts ...now the noise from the front is so loud i cant hear myself shout!! They wont help. They wont look at the car to see whats wrong. They expect me to buy more tyres while they send their tyres back to makers to see if faulty. Absolute rubbish service. They have had a lot of money off me over 3 years and dont give a monkeys. Their attitude is terrible. .

Hove branch, rubbish service. They gave me 400 pounds bill, because my car's light failed for the test, due to my light hasn't been cleaned for ages. They told me, I have to change them. I followed Youtube video , used toothbrush and toothpaste clean it. took it to Just MOT, it passed the test.

Solihull . Lode lane branch. Booked my car in for 8:30 Thursday morning appointment for a Mot & Full Service. Even though it passed Mot , never got car back until Saturday at 1:30. Needed new part from a Volvo . Because I can't check on the "new part" , I'm not sure whether their story was true or they had over booked their work for that week. Never never go to Halfords again, they have a licence to take money from you whatever and whenever........Ken..

I've got my Coil Front Spring changed as advised from the MOT. They charged me £243.98 same job at the Citroen garage - my car is a Citroen - £139.24 I spoke with them over the phone but not solution given as they said it's their price. Not cheaper at all better going to Citroen - cheaper and they even wash your car. Never will be back there.

Kevin from the Watford branch was extrmely professional, knowledgeable, polite and efficient. I am very pleased with how he helped me buy my beautiful Exodus 530ltr top box. They aslo have a large stock. If all sales represantatives were like Kevin, life would be much easier, he is exemplary and a true asset to his company. These are the main reasons I will be returning and that I am a very happy Halfords client!
