Halford is a con artist, I took my car there to first originally replace a puntured tyre, as soon as I left 1/2 mile, my dashboard indicated a drop in tyre pressure, being in a rush to collect kids from school, I decided to go to the petrol station to fill the pressure after I picked my kids, giving Halford benefit of the doubt that maybe the tyre was faulty. Days later, the dashboard lit up indicating low pressure again, took it back to Halford and they said there's a screw in the middle of the new tyre and I had to pay £25 to repair. So I paid up. Then I drove 1/2 mile out the garage, my dashboard indicated low pressure again. Took it back, they said there was another screw and this time I must pay to replace it and then I noticed screws on there floor garage. They have not taken care whilst changing or repairing my tyre when it was their fault they put screws in my car tyre. They are so wrong, it's unbelievable. Seeing me as a vulnerable young women. They said they will not refund.

The worst Auto Centre. I booked my slot to change two tyres at 10 am, at 12 pm I went to check if my car is ready and of course nobody touched it, a lady from reception left the reception and she took her car and drive away for some shopping. Guy responsible for tyre changing was outside chatting with his friends for more than half an hour, nobody in the centre, no car inside waiting for repair, no more cars waiting for tyre changing, just staff chatting outside with friends, Guy who is responsible to open Autocentre was washing his fORD fOCUS, and my car waiting when a staff member will finish his chatting or another to finish washing his Ford focus, and start to change my tyres. Halfords why do you have a slot reservation, when in your garage nobody cares what time tyres will be changed. Two Tyres, car in the centre at 10 am in the morning, I called to Autocentre 1:30 pm to ask what the time I can pick up my car and the rude guy told me my car still waiting in the queue. I explained I booked my slot for 10 am in the morning and I was on time, and what ??? The rude guy explained to me that is really no matter what the time I came to the auto centre, for what the time my slot was booked. When is going to be ready will be ready and they will give me a call, he said you can book a slot on what the time you want but we will change your tyres when will be his turn. I wasted half of my Sunday just to wait for my tyres will be changed. Finally, after 4,5 h waiting to change 2 tyres, a lady called to me that car is ready to pick up, WOW two Tyres 4,5 h !!! amazing Halfords !! congratulation !!! You don't think when somebody books a slot at 10 am in the morning maybe he needs to have a car ready before noon ??? Or maybe this auto centre should have a manager who will control staff and their daily responsibilities ??

A few weeks ago I left a review for Halfords Ruislip after an MOT test. The service was very good BUT, Last Saturday I took my car back for a n appointment to have two new tyres fitted. The appointment was for 10.30 and I was instructed to bring it earlier than the appointment time. I delivered my car at 10.15 and was told that it could be up to an hour and a half as there were 4 in front of me. I wandered around the supermarkets for a while and returned at 11.45 only to be told that they had just got it up on the ramps. I then had to wait until 12.15 for my car. Why did I have to book it in when they clearly are so overwhelmed with work. I could have gone to Costco and had them fitted immediately. Absolutely appalled. Also, the day after my MOT they asked me to do a review and as it was a good service I recommended them. However as the tyres fitting service was so poor they have failed to send me a review request???

After querying a 'review' posted a month ago (Positive: Professionalism), which is positively flawless concerning this auto center at Southfields, Merton Road. This has since been removed from the site, once I brought this to their customer service attention. I was INFORMED (by member of management, not Ian) this particular post has been intentionally placed in order to meet targets, in turn all employee's will receive their bonus! (£3k) Basically, this glowing review is 'fake', therefore very misleading to unaware customers. Moreover, this is only one instance which I am aware of where this practice (fake reviews) has occurred. Needless to say, this review could be ONLY one of many fake reviews posted by Halfords SOUTHFIELDS employee's. Rather concerning this could be common practice, in order to fool people to bring their cars here and waste their hard earned cash. All for the sake of staff receiving a bonus and leaving unknowing customers out of pocket. Finally, this FAKE review which I write about has been written by an extremely dishonest employee by the name of 'Gary Almond', who reports to be a manager at Southfields. Need I say anymore? Please take your business elsewhere and do not allow yourself to be ripped off!

I made a booking through blackcircles.com for 4 tyres to be supplied and fitted by my local Halfords Autocentre on my dads vehicle; he would normally use the local ATS Euromaster however due to lockdown they had closed so we thought to try Halfords Autocentre as we believed them to be reputable as they are a chain but they turned out to anything but reputable. My dad drove the vehicle in and decided he would take a walk while they carried out the work, once complete he drove the vehicle away. Approximately 2 weeks later he heard a light noise coming from the engine and I called the AA, on arrival the AA advised it was the engine knocking very lightly meaning a replacement engine is required to rectify this, they then pulled the oil dipstick which was completely dry, at this point we believed this was our fault. The engine still ran on all 5 cylinders, just a light bottom end engine knock, believed a bottom end bearing which has spun. I then asked for the vehicle to be recovered to my local Ford main dealer to see what can be done. While the vehicle was awaiting inspection my dad asked the service advisor if they could arrange for the vehicle to have an MOT while it was there as it was due and he had every intention of putting this vehicle back on the road regardless of cost as this is his pride and joy which he has owned from new. The MOT was carried out before the inspection and it had passed the MOT. The vehicle was then taken in be inspected to see what had happened. Upon removal of the under tray it was found the sump had been cracked and there was a corresponding mark on the under tray which resembled a trolley jack indicating the front of the vehicle was lifted using a trolley jack on the oil sump and not using the correct jacking points. I was then asked by the service manager if the vehicle had been into any garage recently to which I replied it had been into Halfords Autocentre for 4 tyres approximately 2 weeks ago. It was their belief as well as mine that this vehicle was damaged as a result of faulty workmanship on the part of Halfords Autocentre. I being the more automotive minded person my dad asked me to deal with the situation for him. My first step was to approach the branch where the work was carried out, they didn't want to know and were not very helpful so I next contacted customer services and head office where I put in a complaint, this was then passed onto a senior manager who called me back to discuss what had happened. I explained in full and in detail what had happened and the senior manager advised he would call me back, in this time I found him to be a very unpleasant person to talk to. A day later he called me back and this time before proceeding with the phone call he informed me the call was being recorded to which I stated I have no objection to. He then went on to question the MOT the vehicle had, I explained that at the time we were waiting for the vehicle to be inspected to find out how the vehicle had lost oil (bearing in mind at this point we did not know the vehicle had been damaged) my dad had asked for the vehicle to have an MOT while it was there as it was due and we had every intention of putting the vehicle back on the road therefore we couldn't see a reason not to put an MOT on the vehicle for a year. The manager then went on to pass the blame on to the Ford main dealer and wanted nothing to do with this despite the fact the vehicle was already damaged and had lost oil due to a crack in the sump before it had got to the Ford main dealer (hence we had called the AA who recovered it to the Ford main dealer) and there was a clear mark on the under tray resembling a trolley jack and the only garage the vehicle had been to before the AA recovery was Halfords Autocentre. I reiterated these points to him again and he decided to be oblivious to this, I also asked about CCTV footage to which he stated they do not have CCTV in their workshop which I highly doubt is true. A google search of "avoid Halfords autocentre" and similarly worded searches brings up results showing Halfords Autocentre has a history of poor workmanship; I wish I had known this before so we could have avoided having to spend over £4,000 repairing damage caused by mechanics who should be nowhere near cars.

AVOID!! I went to fit 4 brand new tyres which were bought from Blackcircles. I had a choice of garages to get this done but I had chosen Halfords due to the 'reputable' brand, however I have been put off using and recommending Halfords for life! They had damaged all 4 of my alloy wheels during this standard tyre fitting AND then denied they had damaged it. The 'manager' claimed they had before and after pictures of my alloys but refused to show me and told me to contact Blackcircles and they will show and discuss it with them. They wouldn't even come out to see the damages I am claiming. The alloys were filthy after the fitting so I went to get them cleaned and noticed more damages than I initially saw. I was furious I was told my tyre fitting would be done between 09:00-13:00. I had dropped the car off at 09:05 (because I went to Halfords the shop first thinking it was there) and went to the Starbucks in Sainsbury's nearby. I called Halfords at 12:20 asking the tyres had been fitted yet. They said it was going up now and will take up to 30 minutes and they will call me. 13:10 and no call so I walk over and they 'claimed' they couldn't call me because they didn't have my number despite me giving it when I dropped the key and it was in the paperwork with the tyres that came. 4 hours I was waiting to do a tyre fitting! After the 1st email to Blackcircles, I kept chasing them every week or 2 and every time they would say they're waiting for Halfords to get back to them. Finally after 2/3 months Blackcircles told me I can get the alloys refurbished and they would pay for it. Very disappointed with Halfords and will avoid them at all costs and will tell everyone I know the same.

Do not visit a Halfords Autocentre for car batteries. They are not experienced in fitting car batteries and blow the electrics resulting in car not starting. Be careful and I would suggest avoiding cycle retailers and going to reputable car garages / mechanics. Also Halfords customer services just don’t want to know they are a large company and have no regard for the problems they cause.

I booked a free repair check online yesterday and when I dropped off the car was told it would be £49.99?!?!? A bit dodgy. Wrongly advertised online. They said they do not do free repair checks and booked in as a service instead. Waiting for them to get back to me as to why ...... watch this space !

I visited Halfords Autocentre in Ipswich today to have one tyre fitted. When I dropped off the car I was told it would be approximately 30 minute & I would be called when it was done. I was unable to wait on the premises due to covid restrictions so I walked around in the rain for one hour & ten minutes & still no call so I returned to find it had been completed! No explanation why I'd had no call! When I saw the new tyre the actual wheel was completely covered in tyre fitting lube, there was more on the wheel than used on the tyre! The balance marker on the new tyre did not line up with the valve & the wheel had not been balanced. All in all a bad experience. Three hours after I arrived home I had the receipt emailed to me, on which the mileage was wrong by 30,000 miles (a random number, nothing like the actual mileage) also they had supposedly done a health check on the car which stated the lights, battery & wipers were all ok, however one of the headlight bulbs had blown so obviously not checked! The other tyre depths had also been stated on the report which were also random & completely wrong. I have this afternoon been & had the tyre refitted & balanced somewhere else. Never again Halfords, very poor service.

Went to Halfords for a replacement battery, they blew the electrics on disconnection, they drove my car in to the centre and were unable to drive it out. Please do not trust Halfords Autocentres with replacing your car battery regarding stop / start cars with electronics they are not competent. 26 yes 26 days later this has not been resolved their customer service is appalling. Please go elsewhere for a ca battery it’s not worth the risk.

AVOIDE AVOIDE , AVOIDE. FOR ALL INFROMATION, I had purchased tyres and date confirmed, on arrivals in the centre tyres not there, they rebooked for next day, again tyres not there. took nearly a week and 3 trips to centre to have those finally fitted. They blamed supplier, not ownership of the issue. USED THEM IN PAST BUT WILL NEVER AGAIN

Halfords Autocentre Blackburn I would strongly advise everyone not to use this garage, please see the details below regarding my visit. Book in for a major service and MOT. My car failed its MOT - they described the issues as an excessive engine leak, issues with the shock absorbers etc quoted over £650 for the works to be carried out, tried saying stretch the payments... don't fall for it.. I took it to another garage the following week and it passed the MOT. Strange as I haven't had any works done. Don't trust or use this garage they are not honest or reliable, they said they would call me when the work is done and after not hearing anything for the majority of the day I decided to just turn up a couple of hours before it was due to close and it was just parked in a bay, probably been there the majority of the afternoon so they can make out they have been working on it all day. Gave me the keys straight away and I was on my way. They try and offer you a 0% finance option to stretch the payments don't fall for it. I was also advised by the garage that passed my MOT the following week that certain filters hadn't been changed, I checked the booking and Halfords website and they should have been replaced. I am now disputing this with Halfords but don't seem to be getting anywhere and it has turned into a right nightmare.

Basically remarkably unhelpful and despite being Halfords don't seem to have diagnostic tools, schematics for cars (I asked the manager....he said no we don't, whilst trying to find out which bolts and exhaust fittings I needed to buy...horse's mouth), or even access to spare parts. Neither are they clear on the fact they won't repair your car unless they source the products for the car, it's company policy and there are no notices anywhere at their centre or on a website to tell you that (you've been warned); apparently they were doing me a favour. Ironically it was only after me having the car trailer carried to them was I told they don't fit non Halfords parts. They didn't stop me booking it in though after it's MOT and previous conk out, despite me telling them we had a DPF to fit prior to and not from them which ironically in the end didn't fit (which admittedly I'd sourced from somewhere else via number plate recognition and he showed me a photograph so...it did look different and I had no trouble getting a refund from where I'd bought it from) but it took me many phone calls and two weeks to find out what the car needed and get it back (they wanted me to source the parts for them). This sorry saga of arguments started after them having the car 5 days only to tell me they couldn't do the job because they needed bolts for the DPF (apparently they melt). Never phoned me earlier to tell me that so the car was obviously sat outside Halfords most of the time. I wasn't happy and had a rant and he sort of tried to guilt trip me. He went on to give me a diatribe on how many hours they'd worked on it which was far longer than they should have as my part is buried deep in the car (not according to Nissan mind)....so it was my fault their mechanics couldn't phone me to tell me straight away it couldn't be done...ah...sorry for that if only I could mind read, so sorry for that one. The trouble with his argument was that it made no sense as he couldn't take the part off nor actually used a computer to check what was really wrong so it all became a bit of a weird merry go round of reasons and excuses. I kept getting conflicting explanations from two different managers. One said they'd had the car in pieces and found they couldn't get it off (obviously they've no nut splitters...maybe they should try Eurocarparts across the way) and one said they were still working on it. Cut a very long and convoluted argument short I just said leave it and we'll get it taken away to someone else and he said he wouldn't charge us for all this work and time our car (shame on me) had taken up and wasted their life on (unlike the £50 I'd already wasted delivering it to them and the running around I'd done to find parts that they couldn't be exact on...it was described exhaust bolts first....then it was a DPF fixing kit (which as Nissan stated doesn't exist, they're individual parts it's not a kit) I could have bought loads of unnecessary nuts and bolts if it weren't for the real hero that was Mr. L. Monty of Nissan Wigan...and he was only covering the post there until returning to Nissan Chorley. As stated the big saviour in all this was Mr. L. Monty who worked at Nissan (embarrassingly round the corner and if I'd know should have taken it to them but I don't know Wigan at all). Mr. Monty was their parts desk person and was baffled why Halfords didn't ask them directly as after all I didn't know what I was looking for. This fellow went above and beyond his job. He took over for me, phoned Halfords, told me what I needed which I bought and as I live in Leigh he saved me not just a trip but money and even nipped round and took them there for me on his way home. Nissan of Wigan your Mr. L. Monty is a prince amongst men and a credit to your company. Then I got told by Halfords (after more badgering of when would the car be ready) the AA man was wrong (which was quite possible as of course he couldn't dismantle the thing like you could in a garage) as the DPF wasn't really all that blocked and I was given some melted pressure switch thing which was meant to be the culprit. On the way home the orange warning light come on but they did warn that could happen and they'd take it off but they recommended we put in some cleaning stuff/toxic gunge regularly and actually it went ok for a bit and the engine returned to normal....briefly. Then it started losing power again on hill climbs so we took it for a run and it sort of worked ok but it was not really pulling very well on inclines then it all turned sour. Anyway it cost me over £200 only for the car to go back to major fault (red) in the space of two months. I can't be bothered to argue with them as it's too much like hard work. Taken it to another garage now and the DPF is apparently severely clogged up so....I just think Halfords wanted their pound of flesh for all the time I'm guilty of wasting for them. Sort of revenge really I suppose. Just goes to show you cannot trust even the big company's anymore. Funnily enough I won't ever go there again and I fact have decided I will never shop at any Halfords for anything ever again, bicycle, tool or otherwise....you've had your last penny off me. Hopefully soon we'll have an electric car and well....I can repair electrics....
