“Honestly, I don't think the indow inserts help much at all for noise reduction. The technician warned me that they would not block low wavelength noise. They do not block pick-up trucks, vans, and of course larger trucks and motorcycles. They may help a little with cars.”

All sound situations are indeed unique and sometimes require additional soundprooofing methods in conjunction with our inserts. “Tyler: As told in my talk with you, I was pleased that your inserts in two of my bedroom windows reduced noise from increasingly busy road noise to "no disturbance" status. All help previously suggested costly addition of another window in interior on top of existing new- build window OR storm window on outside of existing window. Indow inserts were cheaper, less obvious in room, could still see outside clearly, kept room warmer with additional air space between existing new-build window & Indow insert. Simply Indow insert solved my problem in that bedroom & my husband was able to measure & install inserts himself withOUT additional installer cost to us.”

“Measuring for fit was easy and my window inserts arrived safely in strong cardboard packaging. Inserting them was accomplished without difficulty and adequate instructions were given all along the way. I haven’t had any issues with my noisy neighbors (no parties or loud music/talking) since installing the inserts so I am still waiting to see how well they work. Hopefully I won’t be aware of any more of their late into the night rowdiness anymore.”

“I would recommend these inserts. They help cutting the noise and increase insulation. However, I have large ones and they are not very easy to re-install if you need to take them out for any reason after they have been installed by the Indows representative. A video on how to install them would help!”

“The inserts fit well but kind of disappointed about the level of noise reduction they provide and the thickness of the acoustic insert. I have 2 inches of gap in the window but Hasn’t reduced noise much.”

While we are happy to troubleshoot the fit to ensure you are maximizing the performance, we acknowledge that some sound situations require other soundproofing measures in conjunction with our inserts. Our acoustic grade's thickness (nominally 1/4") is designed to maximize sound reduction properties while maintining the light weight for ease of handling and fitting. Thanks again for the review. “They keep out the draft so much better than exterior storm windows and look seamless in the window. The only drawback is I had to take down the honey comb blinds I had in my windows.”

“This is our fourth round of Indow Windows as we gradually insulate our 1923 house as well as we can without rebuilding the windows! This time was the first time we worked with the custom fit kit instead of a person coming out to measure for our inserts, and we were worried, but the fit is excellent; the kit was very clear and easy to use. We will be back next winter for our next round! Our only problem was with TFreight, who gave us the wrong phone number to contact them for delivery, then gave us the wrong delivery window, then delivered to us without warning and tried to leave our windows out on the front sidewalk ("I don't do stairs" was the comment from the driver). Please get a new delivery service!”

“This insert was ordered for a window between 2 offices (all interior walls) due to the amount of noise. We had the wall filled with insullation, which made little-no improvement. Our next step was this window insert. Very quiet noise cannot be heard through the indow window now, but everything else is still very clear and loud, overall about a 20% improvement. We have a drop tile ceiling, which is likely the biggest problem, and not something we, as tennents, are able to change. The insert was easy to install, but 1 section of the instructions was VERY confusiong - the chain part, due to the size of the window. Online, the video's do not demonstrate inserts requiring the saftey chain, and the written instructions provide no description on how these are to be installed. Overall, I think the product is great, it just isn't as helpful as we were hoping for our space.”

Lindsey, Thanks for the feedback. We re happy to hear that the insert is reducing noise. You bring up an important point about the drop tile ceiling (and other such constuction elements). There are indeed quite a few factors to consider when solving a noise entering a room. Sorry for any confusion regarding the safety chains. On inserts larger than 8 sq. ft., the safety chains are used to avoid falling out and down if dislodged from the indow cavity. We are sorry if your did not receive the instructions normally included for the attachement of the safety chain brackets. The brackets are easily installd with one screw once determining the correct placement. Thanks againg for your review.

“I purchased the Indow window inserts to address street noise coming from in front of my home. The inserts have made a significant improvement; almost all noise has been substantially reduced. Also, the inserts are barely noticeable from inside and are not noticeable at all from outside. As was made clear on the website, and as was communicated to me through the installing contractor, the inserts are less effective on low noises (e.g., a bus or motorcycle engine) but the inserts still provide some improvement on this issue.”

“I moved to a beautiful home that was unfortunately next to a busy road. Having always lived in relatively quiet areas, I did not realize how much the routine road noise would bother me. In desperation, and after a “reputable” company promised me relief, I replaced all the windows in my home. I spent a fortune, there was no change to the sound, and I thought my only option would be to uproot my family again. Then, I found Indow. This was my last-ditch effort. How could a piece of acrylic do what my expensive windows failed to achieve? I spoke with Indow on the phone and they said they could help, that the routine noise would be greatly reduced and only deep bass (think large truck engines) would pose difficulty. I live on the other side of the country, about as far in the lower 48 as you can get from Indow. They walked me through measuring, deciding which windows to get inserts for, and which inserts to get. A giant crate was delivered, everything inside perfectly packaged and unharmed from the long journey. I picked the loudest room and rolled the dice. When the final insert for that room was installed, I almost cried. Most of the routine road noise was gone, what was left was transformed from an angry roar to a sound similar to a soothing ocean. The other rooms had even better results. I can only hear the loudest of truck engines in my bedroom. Everything that Indow told me was true. In fact, the acoustic inserts exceeded Indows representations. Worried about if they work to reduce sound? For high to midrange frequencies, exceedingly well (they do reduce the truck/airplane sounds, just not as much). Worried how they look? The product is so clear that your eyes do not pick up something is in between you and the window. Worried about the cost? I spent more, went through a major renovation, and received far, far less. In short, the acoustic inserts from Indow not only exceeded my expectations, they exceeded the company’s own representations. Now that is a product I can stand by. Thank you, Indow, I can live here now.”

“My Indow window inserts are AMAZING! We have an old farmhouse with old windows an decided to try the inserts so we could retain the character of the old windows. We decided to try our master bedroom first to see how they worked. It is amazing how much warmer our bedroom stays in the coldest part of the winter (-16 degrees outside!) and even how much quieter the room is when the snowplows drive by. The measuring kit was easy to use and the inserts fit perfectly. With the color selection, the inserts are barely noticeable. We will be outfitting the rest of the house this year with the Indow inserts.”
