I have the in-home device. I have COPD. It took me 45 minutes to an hour to blow each time 3x a day. You have to blow in for 3 beeps, suck back in for 2 beeps, and then blow back in for 2 beeps and then you're done. So if you have any respiratory problems or lung problems I would recommend Smart Start. I had to switch to Smart Start and I have had no issues or problems and their customer service is awesome. Also, Intoxalock customer service suck and their rules of payment. I was enrolled in auto pay biweekly. Well I lost my job and on the day they're going to take a payment from me I wouldn't have the money until 5:00 p.m. Get paid and go to bank ATM to deposit money and then pay them. I asked to be taken off auto pay for this time and they would not. they told me that I would have to pay a one month full total balance before doing that. I was like are you kidding me. It is easy with Smart Start. It is portable so I can take it with me and I can blow when need to. Just me 2 cents.

They are so rude and the prices are horrible.. they don't know how to do their job... Every time I would call them it was a problem... I really hope everyone that gets put on a breathalyzer PLEASE 🙏 PLEASE... DON'T GO WITH INTOXALOCK... I REALLY WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD ME THIS INFORMATION... I WOULD HAVE SAVED MY TIME, STRESS AND MONEY... IM SO UPSET WITH THEM ITS REALLY CRAZY... IM A VERY PATIENT PERSON... YOU CANT UNDERSTAND A DAMN THING THEY SAY... OR THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO LISTEN... ESPECIALLY COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS... I highly suggest going to someone else because INTOXALOCK isn't no good...

Irresponsible, predatory, condescending Just take a moment to read a few of the 5 star reviews and you will immediately discern they are all generic AI generated fakes. That should tell you all you need to know about this company. But I will share my experience as well: I’ve had their device installed in my car for over two years now. I was ready to get it removed until I learned from my monitoring authority that the device logs indicated a missed retest months ago. I had never failed nor missed a retest to my knowledge. I requested more information from Intoxalock and I reviewed the device logs. In my review, I found that in the case of the alleged missed retest, there was log entry for a passed retest that had a timestamp 38 seconds after the missed retest timestamp. After examining the entirety of the logs, I found multiple contradictions among the timestamps, where the logged timestamps did not align with the information presented in the manual and the state requirements documentation. For example, a retest is required from 4-8 minutes after the car is started- and I found instances where the retest was not initiated until 10+ minutes later. I also observe time device display frequently freezing, when this occurs during a countdown timer , the timer will countdown at seemingly random intervals. Making it unclear how much time is actually left. Other times, the device countdown timer willl continue after the car has already been started or the sample has been given. All of this suggests to me an issue with the device that could’ve caused a missed retest to be logged. This was determined to be an infraction by my monitoring authority and has extended the length of my license restriction. I’ve tried multiple times to get support from Intoxalock, when I took my car to the service center for inspection last week, I left it there all day and the technician said he could not get through to Intoxalock by phone. It took a week and several follow up calls for the technician to finally get a hold of someone from the company for support. Meanwhile the device is still making random sounds from behind the steering wheel that it never made before. Im supposed to just trust that it’s going to operate without issue, because that’s what the condescending service agents are asserting. I love being told “listen to me very carefully, okay, you need to call the service center and tell them to call us”. After I had just spent 5 minutes explaining that the service center could not get in contact with them for a week. Maybe they should take their own advice. They might as well use AI agents to answer their phone calls because the script they give their human agents is very limited, and on top of that they are rude and condescending. It’s quite obvious the agents aren’t using their real names either, which makes you wonder why their employer makes them use generic Eurocentric names instead like “Chris” “Oliver” “Ava” “Esther”. There’s no reason to implement a business practice like this without some level of xenophobia involved, but I digress. Ultimately, this company continues to fall short of ethical standards by taking advantage of their customers’ vulnerabilities and perceived submissiveness, to keep them entangled in their racquet for as long as possible. PS Do yourself a favor and record all chat logs and phone calls you have with Intoxalock. As I have done the same, it will come in handy when you need to defend yourself.

I'm not happy that I made such a horrible mistake, but I am grateful that I chose to use intoxalock. These guys are amazing, and treat you like a person, not a number. They are incredibly understanding, and incredibly caring. I'll never screw my life up with a DUI again, but I will recommend them to anyone who gets themselves into this unfortunate circumstance.

I just Experienced the absolute worst and most expensive week of my life. When I first Called Intoxalock they answered on the 1st ring. They took fee after fee after fee… then I was Charged even more fees at the Speedway towing and repair shop in Levittown! They’d quote me a price then they’d charge even more once I arrived. The interlock system went off about every 10-15 minutes while driving (my sister drove) oh and dont lose your license in NJ and go to PA for an interlock system because NJ only accepts NJ installs!!! So in order to get my license back I was Ravaged of even more money and fees totaling $700 to uninstall and get a new appt in New Jersey!!! (Btw they say I’d get my license in a month!!!) Also, just try to get customer service with Intoxalock once you’re in the system!!! I had To use my families phones as once yours is registered with them you will NEVER speak to a human! Took me 1 whole day and the last call I was On hold an hour and a half!!!! I found A place to install in NJ and they’ve been so kind and don’t plan to charge me any such fees! I’d rate this company 0 stars if I could…

I got locked out because I did not report vehicle maintenance. The supervisor called me and asked what had happened. After I explained that my car was in the shop, he verified it and refunded my money. I was so surprised!! They actually listened to me and did the right thing. This is an A+ in my book.

Never pay up front for this service. If it can't be installed on your vehicle you definitely aren't going to get all of your money back. They have a nice way of ripping people off like me. Pay where and when it gets actually installed. I suggest Lifesaver interlock. I was able to get it installed and pay at that time. I got less than half of my charge back and I don't have this in my vehicle. Nice scam Intoxalock. How much a year do you make by ripping people off in a very stressful time for them.

So the equipment was put into a vehicle that was registered to my mother! And it died and my lease for Intoxalock was up!!! I called numerous times!! I bought a new car in my name and got Life saver installed!!! You guys kept refusing to remove it even with a letter from probation (which I have not been on for 10years) plus the proof of the new one in my vehicle!! I even took the car that Intoxalock unit was installed in completely off the road!!!! And they still refused! They are considerably more expensive than the other two company’s in NYS! The DMV plus my old probation office was shocked that you would not remove this device!!!! Whoever is reading this go with any other company besides Intoxalock!! Like I said I am not even on probation!! I just needed one cause I waited too long to get my License!! And now they are throwing me in collections for $1,000! I can’t even say enough on how bad this company is!!!! Plus when I called to get it initially installed the lady I talked to said that their charges were a state law and they were all the same (my own fault for believing her)! So do your research and don’t install Intoxalock!!!!!!!!

They are a furad. I had reported that my car was being fixed so I wouldn't be charged for any lock outs that the repair people incurred. Well they locked me out and I was charged 135 which they "credited" to my account. I was about to have it removed because I completed my terms of having it on and they charged me 135 to "break" the lease which dissolved the 135 "credit". They said they don't do refunds and thar money was jot supposed to go back to my card. What a bunch of lying money stealing people. Go with a different company. Do not go with intoxalock

Our office has had an overwhelming amount of issues with this program. It has gone from us referring clients to them to us strongly recommending only SmartStart, to me now asking anyone else in MN who has been conned by this program to reach out to me. They are criminal. I referred my own sister , Alexandra, and feel HORRIBLE. It’s personal now. Please contact me ASAP if you’ve had similar issues 612-588-0488.

Terrible company. I had a battery issue with my vehicle and had to get it towed to get the calibration done on it. I had to put the key in the on position to get it into neutral so it could be towed. That put me in none compliance somehow, and caused their office to put a hold on my next calibration. I spent hours calling them to get it resolved and by the time someone had an answer it was too late to get the order put in. That was Friday. I had to work all weekend and had to pay a ton of money for Ubers to get to work. Today, I called again spending an hour in the phone with them, for them to tell me I need to get it inspected now and it couldn’t happen until tomorrow. So I am again stranded spending more money, and it’s an issue they caused. Stay away from this company. Go with lifesafer. I have that company for my other vehicle and they are way better.

This company is the worst. I get it, its part of the punishment. I have never had a bad sample with 1 year in the car but still had issues. The device toasted my battery then locked out when we jumped the car. I had to pay to have the entire car towed to the service center. Yes I even submitted a service report prior to jumping the car.

The equipment installed kills your car! Drains the power completely from the car battery, the starter, and including the alternator. Intoxalock said you have to start your car evey 8 hours for at least 5 minutes to prevent the car battery from being depleted. Lies!!! I have to start it every 4-6 hours and sometimes that's still not enough. I have a new starter ($748) and new battery. The alternator was new when the intoxalock equipment was installed. I've replaced my battery again ($189) and had to invest in a handheld chargeable battery jump starter ($60). I've been stranded in a hurricane. I've been stranded in extreme heat. It's not safe to have children in the car with this device. The equipment has you retest with new breath samples while driving but what do I do when the 5 minute sync warning flashes counts down to 0 and starts over at 5 minutes, for 10 hours straight. So technically anyone with this intoxalock device could drink alcohol while driving for 10 hours straight without a breath test. I recorded the entire ordeal. But intoxalock and the garage that installed it say it's never the equipment there's something going on with your car. Customer safety is not a priority.

This is one of those easy to buy-in companies but a travesty to get out; ie device removal, customer service, live chat and constant lease renewal emails. Then when you get in contact with an actual representative, they are not helpful. They use language you don't know, a vernacular specific to their industry and won't work to help you get to the solution you're actually looking for. But they will ask you if you want to renew your lease or make a payment. Use another provider. Do not use this company in my personal experienced opinion.

I had trouble from the start. They installed the wrong device which took a few weeks more and money. I had some days that my car won't start and getting false readings. Now I'm over the time to get the device out and called and set removal up and they have no record of it. They didn't report to the DMV so I have to keep it in longer and of course pay for their mistakes. I haven't drank in 9 yrs or had a DWI since 2014.

I paid more money to intoxalock than I did for the DWI itself. That's lawyer fees, court cost, etc. They screwed me every single month whether it be a bogus lockout, or a bogus violation, it was always something. I ended up having it in my car almost 4 months past what my assessment required. This company is a joke and a waste of money.
