“Cutomer service has always been good when visiting the branches, though these days, like a lot of banks they've closed a lot. Talking online can be stressful, I had a possible fraud for a decent amount so of course you're stressed when you call, they ask you all these 'security questions', most of which you answer but you can't remember exact numbers of stuff off the top of your head, what was the point of sending me an sms to check about a fraudulent transaction when the security questions stopped me from actually chatting to someone about it?”
“30 years a member, 6 different types of a account and over £12,000 currently with this 'mutual', but I'm not 'invested' enough as a member? This is the same board who preach about being a mutual, where 'we are all valued', yet there is no say about the £600 MILLION being paid to Mr Branson esq? This in exchange for a bank he controversially got for nothing and is probably worth next to nothing now. While the sanctimonious fat cat board have their snouts in the trough, denying members a say in a questionable takeover, only a minority of others benefit from 'their' largesse, other societies are awaiting my accounts. - use very junior people to manage your account who does not have any common senses
- the complaint team is even worse, full of junior people with robotic answers.
- zero digitalisation, you can’t even access your money once you opened your account
Go else where as there are plenty of banks who have a basic customer service.”

“I had current account with nationwide for almost 7 years and I have not one positive thing to say about them. My whole experience has been overwhelmingly negative. They are technologically incompetent luddites who think 14 day waiting times for things most other banks sort out in a matter of hours is perfectly ok. They froze my account twice on completely flimsy and idiotic reasons and left me with no access to my own money for over a month. They eventually decided to close my account and gave me no reason. The stress and hardship they put me through seemed none of their business and they were callous and unsupportive. Their in branch staff are horrible and mostly incompetent as well. Avoid this bank like the plague . Using Monzo now and it’s been nothing but good things”
“Aberdeen branch blocked my pin number! When I eventually spoke to a human being they could not explain why! I now have to wait 5 working days for new card and pin number!!! I have no access at all to my money and have none! Furious does not cover it!! 8 have a lot of money in 2 accounts which I will be transferring elsewhere ASAP”

“Nationwide once again has dropped me in it when I am abroad, this time it has forced its customer to upgrade to the app that does not work.
In the past Nationwide worked for its members and it is clear from the scores here that is no longer the case. I will be closing all of my accounts at the earliest opertunity as they are not fit for purpose and can clearly not be trusted.”
“Absolutely rubbish customer service as my sister had told me, before I even went into the branch in my town. I tried to open an account online and for some reason, the attempt was botched. I went into the branch, and after half an hour, they couldn’t find any reason why my attempt to open an account had failed. Then I asked about ID to open an account, resulting in their “staff” standing around going through the ID I had brought (not photo-graphic as I don’t have it) and looking at me as though I am worthless, as I had my Council Tax bill and my Benefit Decision Notice. I tried again online to open an account, by phoning their number - someone said you can’t open another basic account (which is the only one they would offer me) if you already have another one with another bank. I went online and got a standard current account immediately with Halifax - and I asked them can I have an account with another bank at the same time, they said yes, and were kind and helpful. No messing around, they just let me have the account I wanted. Very kind and helpful and very good bank, better than my existing bank actually. No problems at all.”
