The salesman, Gary Mcleish, was friendly, helpful, and not pushy, though keen to make a sale as all good salesmen should be. He took time to explain options and clarified things when asked.

The service I received in the showroom was excellent. From the warm welcome and a cup of coffee, to Frank explaining the new In Control system and then the salesman Rob explaining everything thoroughly. Very professional, and a most enjoyable experience.

Glen Gilson, Perth, was excellent. It is the first time in 25 years that I have been persuaded to buy a new car. Thanks in part to the excellent Vauxhall deals for a Corsa and to Glen for his knowledge of the range ( I was looking for a 1.2 Corsa, but bought a 1.4) and the extra deal he gave me, so that my budget was met.

I initially left the store with a very positive impression and selling experience - - The car had been MOT'd and the timing belt changed prior to going for sale - Gordon Menzie had gone to the trouble of putting together some packs of brochures for both of our kids so they got something too (they were excited about the car). - upon returning to service to have 3 items looked at, two of them were fixed with no issue at all, one of them transpiring to be more than we had initially thought (thought the air con gas needed recharging but transpired the condenser was gone). - Darren in service was very proactive and helpful However, one issue - that of the spare key - clouded things as the weeks went on. - The key wouldn't work, so it was not checked during any pre-sale checks - maybe an opportunity for improvement there - As a result, I was asked to "drop it in" the week after I bought it. - Service couldn't cope with a car being dropped in, so it was a wasted round trip to Kirkaldy, entailing me having to return. Apparantly it is something that happens regularly - sales telling folk to drop in a car - as opposed to telling them to make an appointment, so there is room for improvement there. - The key couldn't be coded so a new one had to be ordered. this was guided at 5 days to a week. I had to follow up 5 times over the phone about the key over the course of the next month, before initiating a complaint. Despite the promises over the phone of the sales manager, the key was not delivered the following week as he had committed to and I had to follow up again afterwards. - again, opportunity for improvement if an order or customer issue is on backorder, follow up with them if it has been delayed or follow up internally to find out what is happening. Why is a customer chasing you 5 times and then instigating a complaint before it (eventually - I had to follow up once more afterwards) gets actioned? It's issues like these - small things, let-downs and continued failures despite your commitments at the highest level locally - that tarnish your reputation as being dependable. So, while a very positive experience was had at first, it was surpassed by the frustration and hassle of rectifying what was a simple and small issue. I have to say that Service throughout (especially Darren) and the external support from head office following the complaint (Megan) was very good. Having the option to go externally to the local store was a great help. For that reason, I am grading you Normal. I would have graded good or very good based on the initial selling experience from Gordon and the follow up service issues re: the air con and handbrake. However, the debacle over a simple key over an extended period of time brought this back. It's the failure to deliver time and time again that has done this - nothing else - I imagine that it's something that you really need to manage as customer confidence, even to just to make the initial step onto the lot, is very, very important. It's half the battle. I would recommend Peter Vardy for a car. I believe we got a good vehicle at good value and it had been serviced well. I would not like to have spent significantly more on a car and have experienced the same or similar issues. Hence a 7 - I would recommend you as an option to be considered, but would caveat it with my experience. Happy to discuss this if anybody wishes to chat to me. gerry

I cannot say a good word about them. Had 2 cars both brand new and had numerous problems. My current car is just 2 years old and has been in and out garage since I got It. Still got ongoing issues that they can't resolve and just fob you off. Complaints procedure is a joke and the senior level of management do not back up the service staff at branch leaving me to take it out on them. Very patronising. The list of faults with my car is as long as your arm. Please read this and take note or you will end up in my situation. AVOID!!!!. 63 plate corsa is the car in question. Fuel gauge issues, rattles, bangs, gearbox issues and now no lights at all. Not what I expected when I bought a new car tbh. Car been pulled by police for no lights and ran out of fuel twice with the gauge showing quarter yet you say there is no fault. Your level of competence is laughable. I bought a car for my son (who is living in Aberdeen) from the Motherwell Branch, and noticed straight away when driving the car up to him in Aberdeen that there was a problem with the clutch. I spoke to Darren Tait, the person who sold us the car, and immediately a fantastic after-sales process kicked in. The advantage of buying from Peter Vardy was that they had a branch in Aberdeen (I am living in Edinburgh), and the staff at Motherwell organised for my son to take the car to the Aberdeen branch to get checked out. They thoroughly tested the car, and replaced the clutch and now, according to my son, 'the car drives like new'. Throughout this process Darren, Scott Glencourse and Louise Govan treated us like 'special customers' and kept in touch to make sure we knew what was happening. To say I am completely delighted with their post-sales care is putting it mildly. There was no doubt on their part that the car needed checked out and sorted as far as they were concerned and they made my difficult situation of trying to sort all of it out remotely so seamless. Peter Vardy seem to have broken the mould as far as the post-sales experience is concerned and I have been telling whoever will listen to me just how fantastic they have been. 100% recommendation, with thanks to all who helped us, in particular Darren, Scott and Louise. I'm sure Peter Vardy must be very proud of them.

Having been on the lookout for a car for my son recently, I visited your Motherwell facility one afternoon to enquire about a suitable vehicle. I was met on the forecourt by John Clifford who was professional in his approach from the outset. Through no nonsense questions and answers we soon identified a Vauxhall Corsa that suited my requirements. A test drive was immediately organised and we then discussed the sale/purchase. It was made clear to John that if we could reach agreement that I would need to collect the vehicle the following morning. John was confident from the outset that he could work to this tight timescale. Agreement to purchase was resolved without any pressurised sales pitch that day and a time slot for collection of the Corsa was organised. My visit to the Motherwell branch to collect the vehicle went smoothly and I must commend John and his colleagues for the prompt organisation of all relevant paperwork for signing and having the vehicle taxed overnight. I have also been called by John to check out how the car was handling after the first few days. The experience in dealing with Peter Vardy at Motherwell was a very positive one and I would have no hesitation in suggesting a visit when family or friends are looking for a vehicle.

My experience of buying a car from Peter Vardy was as pleasant as I could possibly have hoped for. I would like to say a particular “thank you” to Aaron Wilson, who guided me through the transaction so efficiently and courteously and provided me with exactly what I wanted. Well done, Peter Vardy and Aaron. Ken MacKenzie

The two members of staff who dealt with us - Jonathan and Jill - were both very professional in their dealings with us, considerate, efficient and they both new the product. They were able to answer any questions we raised and refreshingly they did not try to over sell the product.
