Overall, it was a fabulous trip! First and foremost, all of our guides were incredible… Very knowledgeable, fun and understanding of group dynamics. Would not change a thing when it came to them! The planning too, provided by Quasar, was incredible. Patagonia itself is beyond words!! But the weather can be quite harsh and unpredictable. The guides and Quasar always had our safety first and foremost on their minds. For example, we were scheduled to go on a kayak trip on a day when it turned out to be snowing quite hard and blowing even harder. The trip was canceled at the last minute, and we were fully refunded. Our two suggestions are with regard to the amount of driving required and the food. It may have been better to stay at two different hotels versus always going back to our home hotel when we are in Torres del Paine. We spent hours driving each day, and although it was fun… It did get tiresome! And overall the food was disappointing. Breakfasts were good, and dinner was sometimes good, but lunches were generally marginal at best. We are aware that we were traveling in remote corners of the world, but it seemed that lunches could have been of a higher quality and variety. And we were hungry given all of the physical exercise we were doing during the day! One thing that did help offset the hunger that we felt during our excursions was the terrific cooler of treats that Quasar provided! Homemade brownies, trail mix, and hot beverages, were very much appreciated! We would not hesitate to book another trip with Quasar!

Dear Paige, Thank you for your thoughtful review and feedback regarding your Patagonia trip with Quasar. We're delighted to hear that you had a fabulous time in Torres del Paine and that our guides and planning met your expectations. Your safety and enjoyment are always our top priority, as evidenced by the careful handling of the kayak trip during inclement weather. Regarding your suggestions, we appreciate your input on the travel logistics and the food quality. We understand that sometimes the longer drives to and from the hotel in Torres del Paine National Park can be tiring. Unfortunately, due to the geographical layout of the park and the locations of the most iconic hikes and excursions near its eastern and western entrances, this is a common challenge. We aim to provide the most efficient and comfortable experience possible, but the park's vastness often necessitates considerable travel. We have taken note of your comments about the food, especially the lunches. Providing high-quality and varied meals is a priority for us, especially considering the physical exertion involved in the excursions. We're addressing this feedback with the particular hotel you used, to see how we can improve the dining experience. We're glad to hear that the cooler of treats provided by Quasar helped offset some of the hunger during your excursions, and we will continue to include such thoughtful touches in our trips. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us enhance our services. We look forward to the opportunity to host you on another Quasar adventure in the future and are committed to making your next experience even more enjoyable. Thank you for choosing Quasar for your Patagonian adventure! Sincerely, ~ The Quasar Customer Service Team

We were awed by the Galápagos Islands! It was definitely one of our most memorable destinations. Highlights were the snorkeling activities and the giant tortoises! I was a little disappointed that as this trip was scheduled to celebrate my birthday, the crew didn’t announce it to our group(as they had done for two others earlier in the week). Perhaps there was some confusion as the outgoing cruise director was letting the cruise director the following week take over some of his duties. Just wanted to mention the omission. Other than that, we were very satisfied with the trip and have recommended Quasar to our friends.

Dear Sarah & Gary, Thank you so much for your review and for choosing Quasar Expeditions to explore the enchanting Galapagos Islands. We're thrilled to hear that you were captivated by the activities and the magical wildlife on the Islands. These experiences are indeed what make the Galapagos an unforgettable destination. We sincerely apologize for the oversight regarding your birthday celebration. It sounds like there was indeed a bit of confusion during the transition between our cruise directors. We understand how special these personal touches are, especially when commemorating an occasion like a birthday, and we're sorry we missed the opportunity to celebrate with you. Your feedback is invaluable and we'll be using it to refine our processes to ensure a seamless handover in the future. It's heartening to know that despite this hiccup, you had a satisfying trip and would recommend us to your friends. We hope to welcome you aboard again, perhaps for another milestone celebration or just another adventure in the beautiful corners of South America. We would love another opportunity to make your experience truly exceptional, from start to finish. Warmest regards, ~ The Quasar Customer Service Team

The quality of the crew and expedition was nothing short of excellent. All guides had exceptional knowledge and were very professional at all times. All the staff were very kind and courteous and kept the ship in tip-top shape. The food was very good. We stayed in cabin C7. I really wish we had stayed in a cabin more forward in the boat. We picked this cabin after consulting with Quasar trip planners because it was la larger space for our triple occupancy. While the cabin and bathroom themselves were nice, and adequate space for our three people, the noise level at the bag of the ship was very very high. The engine noise when cruising is what I would consider just below a "roar". Even when not cruising there was a constant exhaust noise from the ship generator. There was also the early morning noise of panga being unloaded right next to our room - with the panga booms banging against the cabin wall. I would recommend these two more rear cabins on C deck come with an advisory on the noise level. Had I known, I would have definitely made a different choice.

Dear Patrick & Yu, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. We are delighted to hear about the positive aspects of your expedition, including our knowledgeable guides, professional staff, and the high quality of food. It's extremely gratifying to know that these elements of your journey met your expectations. However, we are genuinely concerned and apologetic about the noise issue you experienced in your cabin. We hold your comfort and enjoyment on our yachts in the highest regard, and as it was truly the first noise complaint we received for your cabin all year, we investigated this matter thoroughly. As it turns out, there was a specific issue during your cruise which has since been addressed. During the week of your cruise, a new fan was installed in a working room of the yacht to facilitate better air circulation. This change inadvertently increased the decibel levels in the room and, as a result, in the cabins surrounding the room's air ducts. It was the noise from this fan that caused the constant sound you referred to, not the regular hum from our engines or generators. Since your cruise, we have relocated the fan within the working room and successfully eliminated the disruptive noise. The decibel levels for the cabin you were in have now returned to normal, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Finally, in regard to your comment about the pangas (zodiacs) hitting your cabin wall, we have notified our crew to exercise additional caution when offloading the zodiacs for daily expeditions. While the zodiacs may occasionally bump against the side of the yacht's hull when the seas are not calm, this is not a common occurrence. We will ensure that we inform all guests about this in a timely manner when we expect the seas to be a little choppier. Once again, we appreciate your review. Your comments are instrumental in helping us continually improve our services. We hope to welcome you back aboard a Quasar yacht in the future, promising you a comfortable, memorable, and serene experience. Sincerely, ~ The Quasar Customer Service Team

The guide, Victor, was exceptional. He was very personable and his knowledge of the animals and landscape was remarkable. You can tell he was very proud of his country and how much he loved all the wildlife. The only disappointment was the cancellation of the dinner cruise on the Beagle Channel.

Dear Cole, Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. We are happy to hear that you had an exceptional time with our guide Victor, and that you thought his knowledge of the animals and landscape was remarkable. We are proud to have such passionate and knowledgeable guides on our team, and we will be sure to pass your compliments onto Victor. We understand that you are disappointed that your Ushuaia dinner cruise on the Beagle Channel was canceled. Like we informed you a few days prior to your cruise, the boat had an unfortunate mechanical issue that they were unable to resolve in time for your cruise and we did provide you and all affected guests with a full refund for this excursion. We will pass your feedback onto the tour operator, as we want to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience. Once again, we appreciate your feedback, and we hope to welcome you back soon. Sincerely, ~ The Quasar Customer Service Team

Hello Janel, Thank you for submitting this review on your recent trip with Quasar. We are happy to hear that you had an outstanding trip, but we are sorry to hear that the food did not quite meet your expectations. Our onboard dining service regularly receives excellent marks like this one from guest Thomas Ferb who sailed the week before your departure: “The dining & relaxing accommodations were great..” We constantly strive to improve our offerings and invite all our guests to give us input on all aspects of their cruise, especially while on the actual cruise, so that we can make necessary adjustments to meet and exceed each guests’ expectations. We've brought your comments to the attention of our Hospitality Manager, who will communicate this to the Cruise Director and to the Chef who were onboard your specific departure. We'll also be reaching out do you directly to learn more about your issue so that we can make any corrections for future guests if necessary. Thank you again for traveling with Quasar, and if you, or anyone reading this comment, have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at customerservice@quasarex.com. Service was impeccable, the hotel did forget to give us the backpacks that were given to other guests so I would advise to remind the hotel upon any check ins. Ariana’s service was outstanding. Communication between naturalists and the yacht staff on how to prepare for the days itinerary needs improvement as we were hearing 2 different things. The hike to the crater should be optional especially in muddy conditions. Our group was not advised on this properly and no one came back kept to the yacht. Also if there are conditions in area such as poison oak that we may be walking near there should be an advisory on the day before and/or the written itinerary to protect guests and so guests can better prepare.

Hi Keani, Thank you for taking the time to post your detailed feedback. We are delighted to hear that you found our service to be impeccable! We appreciate your suggestion on improving the coordination between our Naturalist Guides and Crew aboard our yachts as we want all of our excursions to be seamless for our Guests. The details of upcoming activities are always communicated to everyone each night in the form of a briefing given by our Guides, as you experienced yourself. You are always free to talk to or ask your Guide and/or Cruise Director any questions you may have if there seems to be confusion. In fact, we encourage it! We do want you to know that we have passed on your suggestion of better coordination to our teams. In regards to the backpack issue, unfortunately, there was a mix-up at your hotel as they were supposed to deliver these to your room. While our Quasar team does everything we can to make sure that the hotels where our Guests are staying carry the backpacks, mix-ups do happen from time-to-time. Thanks to your feedback, we have stocked our yachts with a number of backpacks so they can be delivered to our Guests in Galapagos if the hotels in the mainland fail to deliver these to you. We will also be sending you a couple of backpacks in the mail, so keep an eye out for those! In regards to the issue with poisonous plants in Galapagos, there is no poison oak on the Islands and we are unsure of which plant you are referring to that may have caused an allergic reaction. Our onboard doctor has all the necessary ointments and treatments for allergic reactions like the ones you mention. Please note, the only poisonous plant on the Islands is the Manzanillo, a large fruit tree that is not very common throughout the archipelago and is very easily identifiable. Touching the sap causes dermatitis, but our Guides always warn you of this, and you do not find Manzanillo trees on the trail at Sierra Negra volcano. This tree grows on lava fields and the Giant Tortoises love Manzanillo fruits! We do understand your concerns about the Sierra Negra volcano hike. All excursions offered on our cruises are optional. Guests can choose to opt-out of any excursion they would like and instead stay on board the yacht if they prefer, ie. when the weather is not good. On a regular day (sunny or overcast, without rain), this trail is very popular among our Guests as it takes you to the second largest caldera crater in the world, providing spectacular views. Something to note, all the excursions and trails are defined by the Galapagos National Park authorities and they are set as part of our itineraries. We can choose to participate or not participate on these excursions, but unfortunately, the Park does not allow us to replace these excursions at-will when weather conditions are not favorable. We have brought up your concerns about this excursion during poor weather conditions to our Excursions team! They will analyze the options we have together with the Galapagos National Park authorities. Again, we truly appreciate your candid feedback! This is how we can make future adventures for our Guests even better. If there is anything we have not addressed, or that you (or someone reading this response) may want to discuss further, we encourage you to contact us at customerservice@quasarex.com or to call us at any of the numbers on our website. Thank you for traveling with Quasar and we hope to see you back on one of our adventures one day soon! Happy travels, ~ The Quasar Customer Service Team

just a couple comments .. the food - several people i spoke to commented on the food . the chef was an awesome concerned great person but given the quality of quasar the food was just not up to par . the cabin locations given the layout of the ship more than half of the people on the ship commented about the noise from the anchor coming up or down and we never got any quiet as we were near the generator we found out this is for sure something that we should have been told one guy jumped out of bed because he thought the ship had run into something the first night he heard the anchor go down .. also quito we were not told that quito was unsafe to walk around at night and even the day . 2 people on our trip were pickpocketed and a police chase ensued. lastly dogs i think it should be mentioned that there is a HUGE abandoned stray dog population. i was pretty shocked apon landing and seeing this i know that it does not apply to all but it really bummed out my visit to quito . the guides were great. there should be t-shirts or quasar goodies for the final evening " test " on what we learned during the cruise. our team one and i think we got a chocolate bar for 7 of us .

Hi Christine, Thank you for taking the time to give us your thoughtful feedback! We take these detailed reviews to heart as we want all of our valued Guests to experience the best trip possible. With that being said, we are sorry to hear that your trip with Quasar did not meet your expectations enough to warrant a 5-star review. Every detail of each of our cruises are carefully curated to ensure that our Guests have the adventure of a lifetime, so we would like to further address each of your comments below. In regards to the food served onboard your cruise in Galapagos, the overall rating of the food obtained from the comment cards that were filled out by you and other guests was 4.8/5 stars. Of the 15 total comment cards we collected, 13 of them rated the food 5/5 stars while there was only one 4/5 rating and one 3/5 rating. We understand how big of a role food plays on any luxury vacation! We would be interested in getting additional feedback from you on why the food onboard did not meet your standards. Someone from our customer service team will be reaching out to explore this in more detail. We also encourage you, or anyone with further questions, to contact us at customerservice@quasarex.com. In regards to the noise onboard, this is something that is inevitable when traveling aboard smaller yachts. We always want to ensure that you see the most and the best the islands have to offer, which requires our yachts to travel long distances that include making navigational crossings at night. As a result of that, you will likely hear some engine and generator noise in your cabin during sleeping hours. The sounds of waves against the hull and the sound of the anchor dropping when we reach our destination may also be heard as well. In addition, when the yachts are underway, the engine noise is constant and at about the same volume you experience onboard a jetliner. You'll encounter this noise not only on Quasar's yachts, but on all other yachts in the Islands and around the world. You can easily have a conversation, but you can also hear the presence of the engines in the background. We've heard that some people actually sleep better with constant background noise, while others do not. Our recommendation is that if you are extra sensitive to noise, to please ask your Guide for a pair of ear plugs, which are available free of charge for our Guests. Considering all of the wonderful benefits that come with traveling with a small, intimate group through one of the world's most pristine National Parks, we believe the noises heard aboard yachts are a small price to pay. In regards to the pickpocketing issue, we are very sorry to hear that this happened to a few of our Guests during your trip! Unfortunately, we were never made aware of this, which means this happened during a tour or service that they did not book directly with Quasar. We spoke with our Guides about this issue, and we can assure you that this did not happen during one of Quasar’s tours or services. Those that travel to Ecuador find it to be a beautiful country full of welcoming people, but just as when traveling anywhere in the world, you are advised to take certain precautions to ensure your personal security and those of your belongings. We advise all of our Guests to avoid wandering around large cities, such as Quito or Guayaquil, on their own and to avoid walking around certain neighborhoods at night. We recommend that our Guests be accompanied by a Quasar Guide at all times given they know these cities well and therefore know when and where to go and places to be avoided. Lastly, regarding your comment about stray dogs in Quito, for the most part, the dogs you saw are owned. In most cases, the dogs you see on the street are owned solely for the purpose of property protection. The human-animal bond in cities like this are significantly different from what most of us are used to, and we understand it can be shocking. Most stray dogs in Quito are fed a small helping of food from their owners, however, most must rely on food found on the streets to sustain themselves. Today, there are dozens of private organizations dedicated to rescuing these dogs and putting them up for adoption in private homes with owners who will take great care of them! Last year alone, the number of adopted dogs in Quito more than tripled from that of the previous year, and the number of dogs purchased in pet stores decreased by almost half. We assure you progress is being made on that front. We really do appreciate the feedback you've given to us as it helps in making us aware of things happening on our safari-style cruises! If you have any further comments or questions, please contact us at customerservice@quasarex.com. Thank you again for traveling with Quasar! Sincerely, ~ The Quasar Customer Service Team

Hello Jackie, Thank you for your review and we are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your cruise in the Galapagos with Quasar. We are sorry to hear about the transportation issue that you experienced with the Wyndham hotel in Guayaquil. This was a free shuttle provided by the hotel where you were staying and it appears that the first shuttle was full and therefore left before you arrived. This does not happen often, but it’s our understanding that the next shuttle came about 10 minutes later but you decided to take your own transportation to the airport. We've contacted the hotel about the issue so that they do a better job of explaining the frequency of the shuttles to all guests, and please remember that we also provide all our guests with a 24/7 emergency contact number that they can call anytime if they need assistance. Thank you again for choosing Quasar and please feel free to contact us directly if you have further questions or concerns at customerservice@quasarex.com. Hello Genna, Thank you for your comment. We hear you loud and clear. These days we find we must constantly update our materials, especially in the face of changing Covid entry and departure requirements. We have learned from experience that as much as we would like to abbreviate our materials, there is much that we need to leave in due to the importance to some, and often all, our Guests. That said, we are in the process of a review of how to improve our materials and make them more user friendly for all future Guests. To this end we have created a video on how our Guests can plan their trip and we planning to make another one that covers our welcome letter. Tasha Williams's recommendations for activities and accommodations were spot on. Both Tasha and Martin Munoz were responsive to all of my queries in an expeditious manner and most pleasant. I felt Tasha understood my expectations and delivered. The only reason I didn't rate my experience as excellent is that I felt they didn't need to schedule private transportation with an interpreter for me from the Tierra Patagonia to the airport when the hotel already provided the service. Although it is an excellent example of their attention to detail, it was totally unnecessary.

Hi MJ, Thank so much you for your review and feedback. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your Patagonia Overland Safari! Our aim is always to provide our guests with an experience that will create memories that will last for a lifetime, and we hope we were able to fulfill this goal in the planning and execution of your trip. We appreciate your honest feedback regarding your transfer and we are sorry that your options were not clearly explained or reviewed upon the reservation of your trip. Shared transfers offered through the properties such as Tierra Patagonia, offer a limited schedule, which do not always fit all flight departures. For this reason we generally recommend private transfers in order to enhance the flexibility for our guests and to avoid risking an issue with a flight departure or a long wait at the airport. We hear your feedback and appreciate you bringing your comments to our attention, which will allow us carefully review transfer options for future guests, as per your suggestions. Hotels in Puerto Natales, Torres del Paine, and the Matetic winery were first rate. Everywhere else the hotels were second rate at best. The various tours, ground transportation, guides, etc. all happened seamlessly and timely. The Jeep worked perfectly, and the vehicle was very thoughtfully supplied. The car seat was excellent (in contrast to what you typically get from car rental companies).

Dear Larry, We greatly appreciate your review and your feedback. We are thrilled to hear that you and your family enjoyed your Patagonia Jeep Safari with Quasar Expeditions. Hotels are an important part of our adventures and we do our best to make sure our guests have a first-rate experience at each property. The Singular Patagonia in Puerto Natales, Tierra Patagonia in Torres del Paine and Casona Matetic at the Matetic Winery in Central Chile are unique and exceptional properties and it may be difficult to compare them to others in different destinations. Properties in Chile are a reflection of the country’s stable economy and a thriving tourism industry. You see more new and unique properties in Chile than perhaps anywhere else in Latin America, and unfortunately this is not always the case in neighboring Argentina, where first-class properties are fewer and generally older. Argentina has a more limited availability of first class properties, and the few that are available often fill up quickly, especially when traveling during the high season months of December through March. At Quasar Expeditions, we always put our guests’ satisfaction first, by choosing the best property options available at the time of booking. This is based on our guests’ preferences, availability, and the location of their adventures. That said, we take your feedback very seriously and will make any necessary corrections for future clients. We also encourage you to provide us with additional feedback about your experiences by contacting us at customerservice@quasarex.com so that we may answer all your questions or concerns. We had a terrific trip. If I could rate just our guide, Gonzalo, I would give him 10 stars. His tweaks to our planned itinerary, his breadth of knowledge on geography, geology, flora, fauna, history and politics, and more much enhanced our experience. He graciously indulged our idiosyncrasies. And he calmly and efficiently dealt with all the headaches of travel. The overall rating of four stars reflects more logistical glitches than expected on a top tier tour. As a couple of examples, the agency we were referred to for air travel really screwed up and one airport transfer was not there when we arrived (although our flight was very, very late). The itinerary management app we were provided was not accurate enough to count on.

Hi Barbara, Thank you so much you for your review and your feedback. We are very happy to hear that you had an excellent time on your Patagonia Overland Safari and that our guide Gonzalo, with his fun spirit and great expertise, was able to make your trip a memory for a lifetime! It is of the greatest importance to us that our clients experience a smooth and hassle-free journey from beginning to end, and we are sorry to hear about the logistical challenges you had to face due to flight and transfer delays. While Quasar Expeditions does not book air for clients, we do often refer them to a trusted company that can help with that, and they receive great feedback 9.8 out of 10 times. I am sorry that this was not the case for you and we have been in touch with them to let them know about your dissatisfaction (as we know you have done as well). When flights are very delayed in this part of the world, as was the case with yours, our transfer service provider in Santiago normally adjusts their schedules to work with the new arrival times and welcome clients upon arrival. However, in your particular case there was an error with the new arrival times they were given and this resulted in the transfer issue. Since April 2018, which is when your issue occurred, we have worked very closely with our transfer service provider to prevent and avoid similar situations in the future. If you have any further comments or concerns that you would like to share with us, please give us a call us at any of the numbers found on our website https://www.quasarex.com or you can email us directly at customerservice@quasarex.com. Quasar portion of our Jeep Safari was very well planned and organized. They provided important staff coordination on-site. Hotels were excellent except the one in El Califate, ARG. There seemed to be many better choices available.

Hi Peter, We greatly appreciate your review. A couple of seasons ago, 3 of the better hotels in Calafate closed for business for different reasons, and the options for good lodging experiences in the area suddenly became very reduced. Today you only have one true 5-star hotel in the area, and while a couple of properties in Calafate label themselves as 5-star hotels (and show the 5 stars on their websites) our experience over the past several years in Patagonia has shown us that they are really 4-stars, at best. Some properties in Calafate have better locations and better views than other properties where we often put our guests, as was the case with your trip we believe. However, our experience over the years has shown us that many of these properties are inconsistent when it comes to food, service, amenities and attention to detail. We have had overall better feedback from other properties that perhaps may not have the best views or the best location, but our guests have been happier with the food, service and accommodations. We feel that this is more important to our clients than the location or views, especially since one spends most of the day outside of the hotels exploring the National Parks. We always put our guest’s satisfaction first, by choosing the best option available at the time of booking, considering the limited availability of good hotels in the area. If you would like to give additional feedback on this matter for future guests, we encourage you (and anyone reading this comment) to contact us at customerservice-chile@quasarex.com so that we may answer all your questions or concerns. We thank you again for having chosen Quasar Expeditions to experience the wilds of Patagonia, and hope to see you back in another one of our destinations soon. We had our journey with Quasar expeditions on the Grace boat in the Galapagos Islands recently. The boat was almost as good as the pictures but you could see some aspects were slightly faded. Altogether though it was a very pleasant boat - we loved the intimacy versus some of the other larger boats we saw on our travels around the islands. The staff were excellent, food very good and attention to details stood out. The guides we had were willing to adjust their schedules to suit our needs and always tried to get us to the main spots before any other boats arrived to ensure we had the best views and experience. My only suggestion would be that you definitely get travel insurance if you book these tours, they are very expensive and if something goes wrong, you will find yourself in a situation where returnable monies will be very difficult to receive. All reasonable of course, but it can leave people in a very precarious situation. Overall, I would recommend the Grace, would suggest it's better for couples rather than large families or small children. The Galapagos Islands were an outstanding experience

Hello Rachael, Thank you for your review. While we endeavor to keep the Grace looking in tip top shape with rooms and common spaces cleaned twice daily, occasionally the equatorial sun takes a toll on fabrics and we therefore schedule to change these often to keep the yacht looking crisp. A great advantage of the Grace being originally built in the Golden Age of Travel is all the outdoor space under shade, which gives our passengers a front row seat on that amazing Galapagos climate and habitat. Keeping the size down to 18 means you will have that more intimate experience and not have to vie for photos of wildlife on single file nature trails, or spend time on logistics or lectures, when you could be out exploring the islands. And you experienced the flexibly having a small yacht offers. If we see a pod of dolphins we will often stop and jump in with them. The slow season in the Galapagos is when kids are in school, so couples looking to have less kids on a cruise should look at dates when schools are in session. Many of our families have had an amazing time on the Grace including private charters for family reunions. However, our 32-passenger yacht the Evolution is probably the best family yacht in the Galapagos. I invite you to read my blog on Why the Galapagos Is the Ultimate Family Vacation - https://www.quasarex.com/blog/why-the-galapagos-is-the-ultimate-family-vacation Yes, Quasar recommends all passengers purchase trip cancellation / interrupt insurance. This insures the non-refundable parts of your tour should you need to cancel or curtail your adventure due to unforeseen events such as illness. It is good practice for any travel experience. Thank you for traveling with us! Thank you, ~ The Quasar Customer Service Team
