My son bought me a 2 night european stay voucher for £199. i have been trying to use this for over a year but it is impossible to find any hotels where you do not have to pay a substantial amount extra. I have searched for weekdays in winter months and still can find nothing. Most hotels are actually cheaper to book via Booking than using this voucher and paying the extra! One hotel was an extra 148 pounds to pay but it was only £135 for the same room and days via booking? How can this be when £199 has already been paid for the voucher?

I was given the gift of a track day for my birthday, this was put on hold because of the pandemic but after several months of going back and forward, the track I wanted was no longer open, you had to pay extra to go on the weekend and with limited stock, you were only given the option of paying hundreds of pounds more for the supercars. Deciding it wasn't worth the extra money, I opted for a cooking course, only to be told that the school was no longer accepting Red Letter Day vouchers! I eventually used the voucher for a coffee braista course which was very good (Hence the extra star) but could have easily been booked through their own website. I would avoid Red Letter Days.

I had a £39 voucher to use. Went to spend it in June 2023 and £30 of it had been used by someone else for something in Sheffield (I live in London). Clearly an error on Red Letter Day's side but they made me wait a week for them to investigate and didn't get back to me so I tried again (July 2023) and they they referred me to "Buy a gift" who said I had to flag it as fraud but promised they would compensate me once the case was resolved. This process took a month and predictably the police were not able to do anything about it. Informed the "buy a gift" contact who didn't reply then nor to a weekly chase email. Went back to Red Letter days (Sep 2023) who after an hour of painful messaging essentially said the investigation is closed and its out of their hands. Exceptionally poor customer service for a company who promised to compensate and then went back against their word. Issue could have been resolved if they admitted the error was a security fault on their end and just reinstated the £30 that was taken from me.

Never touch them they say they send the vouchers and don’t. Ask for your money back and they stop corresponding Thieves

Woeful customer service , chat bot useless. No email address no telephone number. Inadequate research of terrible reviews for hotels advertised. Huge add on costs on booking. All in all a shocking experience. Voucher purchased for a celebration very sad that celebration has been a complete waste of £300, my son saved hard to give us a lovely break. Should be investigated for bad practice, I have not been able to communicate with anyone to discuss . It’s a total disgrace. A case for travel ombudsman to deal with.

We booked an experience through red letter days and due to a train strike had to reschedule, we gave 7 days notice only to be tolled you need to give 10 days notice when cancelling a booking despite this not being on the web sight or in the terms and conditions, therefore we received no refund and no chance to rebook so lost £100. The customer service was difficult to navigate, refused to put me into a manager and quite frankly rude

Do use these people, go to another good company with some honour. We booked for the Shard, I happened to go on-line to see how we would get there and found it had been closed 2 months earlier. Red Letter Days didn't tell us. We live in the Midlands so booked a train and hotel had we not found out about the closure we would have travelled all the way to London, both of us are in our 70's with less energy than a 20 year old. I spoke to RLD and am expecting a refund, they told me it would be 14 days and now they tell me a policy change it would take a month.....for a simple bank transfer? I'm doubting the return of my £80 but I won't let them get away with it, they broke a contract

Don’t ever buy it’s a con. Can’t use the voucher. No availability for 18 months. No contact on phone. Chat with robot or advisor who has the same issue. Should be shut down and every person with a current voucher compensated.

Cannot book anywhere without extortionate extra money. No one to call with t answer emails. Adding up the extra cost ontop of the voucher value is completely outrageous. I priced up the same deal on hotel.com and the cost wAs nearly £200 dearer on Red Letter. This company makes sure you cannot call them directly just by chat bot which is completely useless. This voucher was a 50th wedding anniversary gift from our son , I honestly don’t think we will be able to use it. ! Both him and us are very very disappointed. Dont use this company !!!

I have been trying to use a voucher for the last 18 months. Spent 3 hours trying to find a hotel but couldn't find any suitable ones without having to pay an extra £100+ Can't get hold of anyone via email just refers you to online FAQ which is useless. Would never buy anyone one of these vouchers, nightmare to use!!!

Red letter Days/Buy a Gift, God help you if you want to make any changes!!! It takes forever to get anything sorted, nobody seems to understand anything! On 3 occasions, I had to request a refund due to their mistakes, it was a painful and arduous process, they don’t seem to read or understand anything, ended up going through my card issuer to get things sorted decisively. NEVER AGAIN!! Took months before the refund finally came through

My experience was the traditional woodworking course. What can I say, fantastic location, very accommodating and personable teacher and a great experience for anyone interested in this activity.

Terrible customer service- no way of contacting them directly. Live chat isn’t live- just automated responses. Really difficult to book, availability poor. Seems like they really don’t care. Would never use again.

Inaccurate info on experiences, bought a two night stay and only afterwards are you notified that there are severe shortages of accommodation and the need to buy up to find a hotel within the next 4 months. Live Chat is invisible and like many companied they do their utmost to stop you contacting them. Still trying to contact them for a refund! I will never use them again.

Poor Service. Too automated. I won't buy this again. Read before you do. Delivering a basic level of customer support is not difficult however Red Letter days appear to make it so. 1. No support email address available after purchase 2. Chat window that doesn't offer chat. It ALWAYS funnels you to FAQ so there is no support outside of their prescribed topics. 3. No telephone or email postal address. (Apparently all staff work remotely and there is seemingly no mechanism for such support challenges in 2023?) All very standard evasive customer support tactics when a company attempts to maximise their sales automation whilst trying hard to limit their exposure to refunds or other after sales issues that inevitably occur. I haven't given this gift yet. I can only hope redemption issues describes on this page are rare. Had I know Red Letter days was one of THESE kinds of companies I would have steered clear. Hopefully you can make a value judgment yourself based on these customer service facts. Side note: They claim to have received "Service Mark accreditation from The Institute of Customer Service". I'm honestly not sure how that can be the case and I have forwarded my experience to "The Institute of Customer Service".
