Overall: Loved it! The owners were great and we feltlike royalty! Enjoyed Most: The beauty and serenity. It was perfect! Enjoyed Least: The stone floors were cold. Surrounding Area: The scenery was just gorgeous and the little townswere so charming. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest little town was Torre dell'Alfina, which was not really in walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Purchase walkytalkies for multiple cars.

Overall: We had a very nice time here. The apartment was clean and well equipped. It is old, but quaint. Enjoyed Most: This villa is perfectly located within walking distance to all the major tourist sites and the train station. The host, Lorenzo, was very accommodating and helpful. WiFi worked perfectly. Enjoyed Least: The elevator is small. We only used it when we transported our luggage.Check in was somewhat confusing as we were unaware that we needed to call the key holder upon arrival. We didn't have a cell phone to phone him. Fortunately for us, a kind neighbor let us use his cell phone to call Lorenzo, who came within 5 minutes. Surrounding Area: The area was great for our stay, close to major sites, restaurants, and a super market. Tips or Restaurants: A local restaurant with authentic and nontouristy food was Cibreo (recommended by Lorenzo). Directions: The only directions were for driving. We took a taxi, so it worked ok, but we could have walked from the train station. Check In Out: Check out was fine -- just leave the key and close the door!

Overall: Very enjoyable stay in a countryside environment. Villa is on a working vineyard and olive orchard. Nice yard areas around the buildings and pool. Very quiet nad relaxing. Enjoyed Most: Location close to major road but just far enough away to avoid any road noise. Owner was very friendly. She offers free winetasting from her own vineyard. Wine is very good. I bought some to take home. Enjoyed Least: Property initially very difficult to locate. Surrounding Area: Short drive to Lake with pleasant shore-front park and walkways. Nearby Events or Locales: Small supermarket only 5 minutes away. Very convenient.

Overall: the apartment was as advertised and quite comfortable for our needs. It is well situated on the edge of the wall to make parking more convenient and only a couple minute walk to the heart of the town. Enjoyed Most: San Gimignano itself is an absolute gem and we are very pleased that we chose it as our destination in Tuscany. Enjoyed Least: While the bed and bedding were comfortable enough, everything smelled musty. The Internet reception was intermittent, which was a problem for us. Directions: The phone number provided to call upon arrival at the airport was their office number, which of course isn’t manned on a Sunday when we arrived. The owner provided his cell phone number upon arrival.

Overall: Marvelous! Enjoyed Most: The spectacular view! The grounds were well-kept and the roses were beautiful. Surrounding Area: The quiet and peacefulness of the area. No hustle or bustle. A nice, slow pace. Nearby Events or Locales: The towns were certainly not within walking distance. The only thing within walking distance was the beautiful pool. Tips or Restaurants: Bring a good cork screw as theirs is too big for most bottles of wine. Don't bother with the restaurant at the corner where you turn as we found it to be expensive.

Overall: Great experience. The place is a little hard to get to, but once you're there, it couldn't be more relaxing. Offering dinner on Saturday night is great because you're tired from the trip so you don't have to go out. Enjoyed Most: It's in a great location. Close to all the things you want to do and see in Tuscany. The owner/operator is very helpful. Enjoyed Least: The furniture in the living room seems a little worn, but you get over it quickly. Surrounding Area: Everything. It's in a perfect location. Nearby Events or Locales: San Paolo, but you could not walk. Directions: We followed the written directions.

Overall: Better than average! We started off with a little construction noise upstairs and were dismayed, but the management was very good about postponing work for a month or so! It should not be a factor at this point (summer, 2012). The building is in a fairly quiet location. We miss hearing the church bells in the distance! Occasionally people can be heard as they walk home after imbibing too much but nothing compared to most rentals located in piazzas. It is generally very quiet. The apartment is on the top (fifth) floor. The view of the Uffizi museum and gallery is splendid! Enjoyed Most: Location location location! The view out the window of Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, and the Arno River is terrific, although you do have to open the window and crane your head out a bit to see the bridge. Took lots of great pictures from the apartment. The WiFi was always reliable. Mauro the portiere in the lobby is always cheerful and Giuseppe, the handyman, was too. Enjoyed Least: The third bedroom has small twin beds--really only good for very small adults or children. I used the closets and drawers for my clothes, etc. The television had only a few English Channels (all news), and also typical of Italy, there is no clothes dryer but they have a drying rack we kept by the kitchen window. Surrounding Area: The views are splendid and the location is greatly convenient to public transportation, the grocery store, restaurants and our favorite local hairdresser (Enzo and Luigi at Mauro near the Ponte Vecchio) and cappuccino place. A new smoothie place opened near our building. On Via Bardi just behind our apartment there is an elevator that takes you up one flight toward the Villa Bardini. You walk uphill through the garden the rest of the way and there's a little cafe there and great views. Nearby Events or Locales: We were in the heart of the historic district of Florence on the Oltrarno. (The other side of the Arno from the Duomo). We had a car (super expensive to park and you can't drive in most of Florence so we don't recommend one) but it was nice to drive out to Greve in Chianti and to the coast. We used the car for major grocery shopping at the superstore Esselunga which had a wonderful variety. Tips or Restaurants: I will have to add this information later but for sure have Sunday brunch a few blocks away at Il Rifrullo. Very local and nice people. You can walk up the stairs to the Piazzale Michelango from there. Cammillo's nearby is good as well, and offers gluten-free pasta. We had a hard time changing dollars and travelers checks at banks (some days they'll exchange money, some days they won't!) so suggest you use ATM's. If you need a larger amount use the bank across the street from the Pitti Palace nearby. Directions: You can have their driver Alessio pick you up from the airport or any taxi will find the address. There are always taxis at the airport. By the way, when you use the apartment phone to call a taxi, they know your address automatically and the cabs always came within 3 to 4 minutes! They confirm the address "Lungarno Torrigiani 33 (or Trenta -tre)" and then they tell you how long and the taxi number that will pick you up. Check In Out: I already suggested they have better instructions for the dishwasher and washing machine during check-in. Just put the washing machine on number 6!

Overall: We had a great time. The apartment was well-located, well maintained, and spacious. Enjoyed Most: The proximity to all that is going on in Rome. We were just down the street from the Colliseum and the Palatine Hill. Taxis were close by and we could easily go wherever we wanted. Enjoyed Least: The property itself was GREAT, but unfortunately, there is a bar directly below the apartment where revelers spill out onto the street, yell and scream and play loud music. Even with the windows closed (not what we would have preferred) the noise level was still disturbing. We had to wear ear plugs to sleep. Also, there is only one small sofa (2 seats) If 2 of us were on the sofa, the other 2 either had to sit on the hard dining table chairs or lay in bed. A second sofa would be a great addition. Surrounding Area: At least a dozen restaurants within a few blocks--we enjoyed every one we tried. Just observing everyday life in the city. There is a little fruteria right downstairs and we became well acquainted with the owners. They were our "go-to" stop. One block away was a virtual tour of old Rome which was so-so, but part of "when in Rome..". Tips or Restaurants: Luzzi's is a very popular restaurant right down the street, but was always way overcrowded. We stopped at sidewalk cafes, sometimes without any customers and the food was fabulous. Try the less busy places--you'll have a great meal. Directions: We took a taxi.

Overall: My sister and I (72 and 62 respectively) had a terrific time in Furore! The villa was spectacular, with lovely views of the sea and the town of Praiano below. So overall, we loved the trip and the accommodations!! The unpleasantries were few and insignificant. I would be more than happy to recommend the villa to anyone who loves modern, luxury accommodations, peace and quiet (except for the barking dog) and superb views of the sea! Enjoyed Most: The unit was spotless, well maintained, beautiful furnishings, and had very new appliances, comfortable beds, and there was lots of space. Since we went the first week of May, they had just filled the pool and it was very cold, but we went in once anyway. Loved being able to open the French doors in the bedroom, walk out to the terrace at night, watch the sunset or sunrise, see the moon relfected in the sea below. We met the owners, and they were very friendly and gracious. There is a flock of sheep that grazes on the hillside below, and we loved watching them. Sometimes the shepherd was with them, sometimes not. There were three sheep that seemed to have special dispensation to stay out late into the dusk, all by themselves. We also encountered a herd of goats that crossed our path on the road – that was cool! The local agents were very polite and ready to answer any questions. I even called them during the week for directions to somewhere, or to inquire about why the Amalfi Coast Road was closed from Praiano to Sorrento (landslide, apparently); they were happy to take our calls. They kept saying how expensive electricity is in Italy, but we only used about $30 of electricity the entire week. Of coure, we only needed air conditioning one day, and then the weather became very pleasant. We found the villa to be very energy efficient. Enjoyed Least: The things we found unpleasant: there is a dog that lives not far from the villa that enjoys barking loudly and often. The steps to the villa are steep and strenuous – four flights to get up to our unit – not for people with mobility problems. There’s only parking on the narrow street in front of the villa or down about 100 feet to a small place for one car. I managed to find the BBC channel on the TV only once. Tips or Restaurants: You absolutely need a car to get around, and driving on the spaghetti roads on the mountain at night wasn’t something I wanted to deal with, so eating a cold dinner in the evenings worked out perfectly. There’s nothing in the main part of Furore to speak of, except for a pizza parlor/sports bar – it had the only bad food we experienced on our trip. And there was also a fairly well stocked bodega in Furore where we got juices, fruits, cookies, and other necessities. But we often stopped at a whim whenever we saw a restaurant along the road that had good sea views, and that worked out very well. For restaurants, I’d suggest “Da Maria” in Amalfi, just a few yards down from the Duomo. Hotel Rufolo in Ravello also had wonderful views and excellent food. Lunches at Restaurant Fornillo and Trattoria Ciccio above the Amalfi Drive were wonderful - local produce, fresh catch, excellent service. We wanted to eat at the Torre Normano near Maiori, but it was closed for lunch and the walk from the road to the restaurant would have been very strenuous. It’s amost impossible to park in Amalfi unless you are very lucky or you don’t mind walking all the way from the remote parking lot beyond the bus parking. It’ll probably take you about 15 minutes to go from there to the main entrance to Amalfi. We loved the Duomo in Amalfi and the gardens in Ravello... and the art/ceramic shops. Directions: We called the agents from Amalfi about an hour beforehand, and they suggested that we meet in Amalfi rather than in the town of Furore as suggested on the rental voucher. That was an excellent idea, since it would have been difficult to find the meeting place ourselves, and impossible to find the villa without a guide. We followed the agents right up to the villa and did the rental necessities there.

Overall: This is a wonderful cottage. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate, so we had much rain. The cottage is very cozy which made it perfect for a wet, cold weather trip. Enjoyed Most: The garden. Surrounding Area: Beautiful countryside and villages. Everyone is very friendly. Nearby Events or Locales: You are in a wonderful small town. Tips or Restaurants: We cooked all our meals in the house so no recommendations for restaurants. Check In Out: Apparently, it is important to contact the key holder by phone. We thought that we had given our arrival information clearly enough so that this would not be a problem. We did meet the key holder a bit by accident, which was perfect. They are very nice.

Overall: We enjoyed the entire stay. The house was in walking distance to town. A five minute walk to the bakery and cafe. A 10 min walk to the InterMarche grocery store. Enjoyed Most: The wonderful vaulted ceilings, the great bathrooms, and the wonderful patio and pool. Enjoyed Least: The downstairs rooms, especially the kitchen, could use a bit more light. We brought some of the lamps from upstairs rooms that we were not using. Surrounding Area: The Chateau and cafe. Nearby Events or Locales: It was right in the middle of town Tips or Restaurants: There was nothing in the way of spices except salt and pepper. Bring some if you plan to cook. The InterMarche had a good selection of all the grocery items you would need. Directions: We used a GPS to get everywhere. It was simple to get to the local areas. Check In Out: Caretakers greeted us.

Overall: Very good. Best part was the manager's introduction to the apartment and to Florence, complete with a personalized map showing location and nearby restaurants, etc. Enjoyed Most: Spacious, well-appointed, in excellent location - close enough to walk to nearly all major sites (we're all in our 60s and not in great shape) but far enough to avoid noise etc of center city's tourist area. Enjoyed Least: Second bathroom was very narrow. Difficult for two large men to negotiate, but the larger bathroom has less room in shower. Surrounding Area: Relatively quiet residential area with supermarket, restaurants, dry cleaner, numerous coffee bars, etc. Good for stays over 1 week. Tips or Restaurants: Liked Barrino on Via Ghoberti. Coop and Conad supermarkets nearby and easy to use. Loved coffee shop at corner of Vias Bruno and Ammirato. Check In Out: Best part of stay was property manager's introduction to area.

Overall: We had a really lovely time, despite the fact that it rained for 5 of the 7 days that we were at this property! Enjoyed Most: The view was amazing, though the coast road and the local bus were a bit scary at first! We loved the fact that when we arrived, tired and wet from a day's traveling, the fridge and cupboard were well stocked so we didn't have to rush around to get supplies. Enjoyed Least: The stairs! But we were well warned about this. Surrounding Area: We loved the scenery along the Amalfi coast. Nearby Events or Locales: Montepertuso is within walking distance. Some good little markets/shops. Positano is accessible by the local bus, which runs once an hour. Tips or Restaurants: My husband says the Limoncello is better from Sorrento than from Positano!! Also, be careful of some of the cafes in Positano, the price more than doubles if you want to eat your cake at a table rather than take it away--a 2 Euro eclaire became 5 Euros. Directions: We were met by the lovely agent who we then followed to the property--it was all very easy.

Overall: Very good. The place is a little isolated from restaurants and food shops but if you have independent transport it is fine. Cold weather meant heating was required. Generally, though, an excellent stay. Enjoyed Most: The property was very clean and well appointed. Large living areas and generous bathrooms were excellent. The surrounding countryside is magnificent and it is only an hour's drive from Rome. Enjoyed Least: The small single beds in most rooms were tiny and not wide enough for an adult. More blankets in cold weather would help. Surrounding Area: The views were spectacular and the air clean. Excellent walking country. Nearby Events or Locales: No town was within walking distance except a trattoria a kilometer away that was only open on some nights. Tips or Restaurants: Be prepared to cook your own food. There is a great open fireplace but no wood. Directions: A GPS helps because the roads are quite complicated. Check In Out: There was nobody there when we checked out. The key holder was available by phone. Check-in was smooth and easy.

Overall: Place was idyllic, perfect. Complete privacy, lovely pool, great for a couple. And the price was most reasonable! Views fantastic. Enjoyed Most: All of the above, plus the fact that there were no glitches. Everything worked, the place was nicely equipped, and we never had to make a call about anything. Surrounding Area: The views, and the ability to drive all over St. Thomas from our location for beaches and dinners out. Nearby Events or Locales: Charlotte Amalie, which is definitely not a walk down the mountain. Tips or Restaurants: Don't bring a lot of extra stuff. Rent a small car and feel comfortable driving on the left on narrow roads. Very good restaurants include Ma Jolie nearby, Thirteen, Amalia Cafe, Oceana, Enkai. Directions: We were met at the airport and escorted to the house, after making a stop for first-day groceries.

Overall: I liked our apartment a lot. Plenty of space, lots of natural light, well-equipped kitchen. The location was great. Enjoyed Most: We had lots of room to spread out. Enjoyed Least: It was drafty, but with the high ceilings. I don't know how you'd avoid that. Surrounding Area: We were close to the Arno and great restaurants. The Santa Croce church was right outside our door. Tips or Restaurants: You don't need to bring anything; everything you need is already there.

Overall: Great experience. Enjoyed Most: Very modern and close--within a 15-minute walk to major sites. Surrounding Area: Close to restaurants, supermarkets, and touristic sites. Tips or Restaurants: Eat at any restaurant, never had a bad meal.Go to Campo di Fiori and eat at Ristocampo and try any panini on the menu. It is just off the piazza. The best paninis ever. Went back for a second time to grab a panini for the plane ride home. Directions: Very easy to get to from Termini Train Station. Only three blocks away. Easy walk Check In Out: We arrived about a half-hour early and the apartment of course was not ready. Went out to get something to eat and came back a few hours later. The owner of the apartment and hotel was great. Showed us around the apartment and how to use everything, showed us where the apartment was in relation to the sites of Rome. Angelo was wonderful!

Overall: The experience was excellent! Easy to book reservation on line and the photos of the apartment were accurate. Enjoyed Most: Location, location, location! Enjoyed Least: Nothing, thought it was great! Surrounding Area: The apartment was about a five-minute walk from the Duomo. We just walked out our door and were there. Tips or Restaurants: Trattoria Maritone is a great place with great food and service with lots of locals. Directions: The easiest thing to do is just take a taxi from the airport. It cost about 25 Euros. Check In Out: Lorenzo, the owner, was great! I called him when we arrived (we arrived a few hours early), and he called the house cleaner to let us in and drop off our bags. We walked around Florence, grabbed something to eat, and then Lorenzo called to tell us the apartment was ready. He walked us through the apartment and showed us how to use everything, gave us his contact info, and gave us a map and showed us places to see and his favorite restaurants. Check out was easy; we just left the keys in the apartment and walked out.
