Overall: Overall it was relaxing and certainly lived up to expectations. Enjoyed Most: Privacy and relaxing atmosphere and also the overall charm of the exquisitely restored building. Enjoyed Least: Unfortunately we had problems with the beautiful pool as the amount of chlorine caused excessive stinging of the eyes. There were a couple of broken pool chairs, as well. We mentioned both issues to the owner. He gave us a small discount on the electricity bill since we were unable to use the pool. Editor's Note: The owner confirmed that the automatic chlorinator malfunctioned, and it has been replaced. For the 2014 season, all outside furniture and BBQ will be replaced. Surrounding Area: The views, privacy and relaxing atmosphere, great walks. Nearby Events or Locales: Not within walking distance so; we had to drive in.

Overall: Good - felt we were well attended to and found the villa to be clean and generally in good repair. Enjoyed Most: Peace and quiet. The outside area was spacious and interesting. The outside seating areas were comfortable and fostered opportunities to visit and be together while still enjoying the view. Enjoyed Least: The air conditioners were not working. Since we are from Texas, we are used to sleeping in a cooler bedroom. The lack of A/C caused problems sleeping for several in our group. Surrounding Area: The town had plenty of restaurants, shopping and night life. We loved the island across from the villa. Nearby Events or Locales: Ona Mera; It was not within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Make sure you're not needing Wifi access. The road to the villa is truly meant for 4-wheel drive vehicles - but was worth the drive to be on the water and away from all the people. Loved the privacy and the peace and quite. Beautiful! Directions: You would truly have to be led to this property. But once led there once, we had no issues with finding it again. Check In Out: Effie and Angelo did a great job at making sure we were comfortable - even escorting us to the market and bakery. Very easy process! They went over and above and we appreciated it!

Overall: Perfect place for many families together.Lots of interesting places to visit in the area within an hour's drive. Enjoyed Most: The outdoor area was nice and with lots of shade.Nice swimming pool with plenty of reclining chairs. Each apartment was different but all were very charming. Enjoyed Least: Nothing - we enjoyed everything (expect the rooster who started his routine at 6 o'clock on the neigbor's farm.) Surrounding Area: Very charming countryside, lots of places to visit. We enjoyed the cathedral in Orvieto, the city Siena (market on wednesdays - park at the north end of the village, by the stadium), the fortified village Montereggioni, chocolate and ice cream in Perugia, the awesome "Grotto de Frasassi" (a day trip - lunch in Gubbio, then the caves followed by dinner in Perugia on your way home). Nearby Events or Locales: Vernazzano is a not even a village, but had 2 local bars, both within walking distance.Tuoro sul Trasiemo is the closest village (5 min. to drive), but not really within walking distance. Restaurants are everywhere in the countryside - we tried and recommend an outdoor restaurant situated halfway between the property and Cortona, along the local road. Tips or Restaurants: The local foods stores are open unril 8 in the evening, and even open for a short while on Sundays, so it was easy to get food and beverages after we arrived. The store is a 5-minute drive from the property.Bigger stores are a 15 minute drive--there's one in Carmucia (near Cortona) that has a good selection of meat, seafood and wine.Buy the map of the Umbria + Marche area (Touring Editore no. 8) Directions: None - the directions were perfect. Check In Out: Everything went smoothly.

Overall: A lovely villa. Overall a good experience. Enjoyed Most: Location, view, pool. Enjoyed Least: Noisy fridge, gates didn't work (they had to order a part), so we had to manually open and close them. Poor WiFi. Surrounding Area: Some great food, views and small towns. Tips or Restaurants: Bring or buy bug spray (no screens).

Overall: We enjoyed our stay very much. The location for day trips is great. The property was very well-maintained, the pool was very nice, and the apartment worked very well for us. Staff persons were very responsive. Enjoyed Most: Great location, nice views, good-sized bedrooms. Enjoyed Least: Were able to hear traffic sounds from highway at night. Surrounding Area: It's Tuscany. Nearby Events or Locales: Tavarnelle Val di Pesa; it's not walkable. Tips or Restaurants: La Fattoria is a restaurant nearby. We enjoyed it very much (two nights there, takeaway another night).

Overall: We and our extended family really enjoyed our stay at Villa Lariana. The property is large, airy, and comfortable. The staff (property manager, housekeeping, chef) is terrific. Enjoyed Most: There are lots of bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and air conditioner. The kitchen is commercial quality and huge--perfect for preparing meals for a large group. The heated pool (which can be completely covered in case of rain) offered welcome relief at the end of each day. The ping-pong table in the game room kept the kids occupied. Enjoyed Least: This villa is not in the best location. Pianello del Lario is a small town with little to see or do. The ferry only arrives twice each day--in the morning and afternoon. Bus service is hourly. Getting around was complicated without a car. Surrounding Area: DON'T MISS the Boat Museum (La Raccolta della Barca Lariana), which is no longer open to the public, but can be viewed by villa guests with the property manager. It's a spectacular record of the nautical history of the lake. We also enjoyed walking the length of the public lakefront walkway that passes in front of the villa. Tips or Restaurants: HIRE THE CHEF, at least once during your stay, for a fantastic multi-course dinner. She is talented, knowledgeable, and friendly, and she prepares mouth-watering dishes that are beautifully presented. For dining out, we loved the Veranda Beach Cafe, a lakefront restaurant within walking distance near the Pianello del Lario ferry landing. Directions: Arrange to meet the property manager at an alternate location, then follow her to the villa.

Overall: We enjoyed the home tremendously and we loved the village of Crespina. The pool and al fresco dining really made the home a perfect getaway. The location was quite nice--close for easy drives to Florence, Cinque Terre, Pisa, etc. Enjoyed Most: The pool and grounds. Enjoyed Least: We hired the private chefs recommended by RentVillas. They were nice, but I felt that the meals were just OK. I am Italian and feel I could have prepared better meals. Surrounding Area: The village of Crespina is lovely. I enjoyed the little village market/store. The owners were lovely and always helpful. We picked up amazing produce, meats and cheeses there, as well as wine. Tips or Restaurants: There is a neighbor dog that barks, but you get used to it. Directions: Our GPS did not pick up signal, unfortunately.

Overall: The overall experience at Vill Ilia was great. Enjoyed Most: Aside from the amazing view and comfortable property, having the owner nearby was great. He was always helpful and even dropped off 2 bottles of his wine for us to enjoy. Whenever we had a question, he was more that accommodating and willing to help. Enjoyed Least: The mosquitoes were a problem. The property was described as having screens but some windows did not have them. Surrounding Area: We were not far from Cortona, which was fantastic. It was one of my favorite towns. Nearby Events or Locales: Cortona was the nearest town but not within walking distance. You had to drive there. Tips or Restaurants: La Grotta was my favorite restaurant in Cortona. Directions: I did rent a car but ended up turning it in the second day. We had a driver for the rest of the trip.

Overall: This property is well situated and is quite comfortable for 2 couples. Enjoyed Most: I really liked the location and the layout of the villa. It worked well for 2 couples. Enjoyed Least: Although the kitchen was very roomy, it lacked some simple appliances, like a toaster oven. This made food preparation rather challenging. The living room could also use a couple additional chairs. Surrounding Area: The town of San Gimignano is at your fingertips so we had ample opportunity to really get familiar with the town. The information office in the square is most helpful. Nearby Events or Locales: The nearest small town is Poggibonsi which is very easy to get to by bus. From there you can easily take the train to Florence or Siena for a day trip. Tips or Restaurants: The first cafe through the gates as you walk up to the square is wonderful stop for morning coffee or late afternoon wine. On Sunday evenings there was live music, which was a lot of fun. Check In Out: It all went very smoothly.

Overall: It was a great place, location was perfect, very pleasant surroundings inside and out. Enjoyed Most: Location; inside was very roomy, convenient, and clean. Enjoyed Least: The WiFi was lousy. Connection kept going in and out (mostly out). Surrounding Area: Bella Napoli restaurant, cafes, and pizza places were all great; there are markets nearby, and it's within walking distance to Vatican. Tips or Restaurants: Eating in is great too, with the markets nearby, fresh ingredients available.

Overall: This was our second time here. Last year, the weather was great, so we virtually lived outside, which is the best part of this property. This year, it was quite cool, even cold in the evenings. The inside is rather dark, and it was cold. When we were able to find the house manager and get wood for a fire, that helped a lot. Enjoyed Most: The outside terraces, pool, view and seclusion. Enjoyed Least: The dark, small living room. Editor's Note: The owner will purchase new lights/lamps for the living room. Surrounding Area: We love the town of Radda. This year we did far less exploring of distant towns and spent several delightful days in Radda. Nearby Events or Locales: Lecchi is nearest, but there is almost nothing there. It is far to long to walk. Tips or Restaurants: I wish there were basics provided, like toilet paper, paper towels, etc. We knew this time to stop first in Radda to get everything we needed. Directions: We remembered from our trip last year. It's hard to find. last year we had to ask a neighbor. Check In Out: Check in and check out were fine. We had to leave two days early, and the house manager speaks no English. Fortunately, when we arrived, we had cell access (which occurs less than half the time). I was able to get Google Translate to tell him the day we had to leave.

Overall: The property was accurately represented on the RentVillas site. Picture were current. Our check in was a breeze with no surprises. Our property manager was so pleasant and efficient and very helpful. The villa is spacious and great for 6 adults. Supplies were adequate, linens good. The pool area is lovely and the gardens and view are beautiful. The location is good for traveling to nearby villages. Our overall experience was great. Enjoyed Most: The quiet surroundings and the location. Enjoyed Least: The road to the villa is quite rutted. Surrounding Area: The church service in Pistoia, all the food in the local restaurants, the breathtaking drives on the narrow winding roads and the lovely locals. Nearby Events or Locales: Forcoli. It is quite a walk, but could be done. Tips or Restaurants: Definitely book Chef Mattisse. He is fabulous. Bring your own shampoo. Bring your electrical adapters and games you like to play. Directions: No changes. Directions were accurate, but we did use GPS. Check In Out: Elizabeth was great. The gate was open and the villa unlocked and there was wine in the kitchen. We made ourselves at home and she arrived shortly.

Overall: Great location. Quiet street with several shops and eating places close at hand. Handy to the Vatican area and bus service is nearby once you figure that system out. Enjoyed this place. No complaints of any kind. The manager was very helpful and interested in making our stay a good one. Enjoyed Most: Its location. We were able to feel like we were a part of urban life in Rome from the first day there. Enjoyed Least: Kitchen could have been better equipped for meals but that was certainly not a big deal. Surrounding Area: We were literally right around the corner from St. Peter's Square but we also had several food stores and restaurants within a few feet of the front door. Tips or Restaurants: Just be aware that part of this area is not "touristy" and several close by restaurants were closed on Sunday and on Monday. There is a great little "deli" store just two or three doors to the right as you come out the front door. Good spot for bread, cheese, meat and wine. Directions: Since this is a city address and the best way to get there is by taxi, I don't know how you could do much better. I would emphasize the fact that there are taxis that have permits and those that don't. Go to the taxi stand and get the permit taxi to avoid any surprises on fares. Check In Out: Things went smoothly but a working phone would be a great help. Our host - Stefano - was very gracious and very helpful. Really went out of his way to help us with advice, directions and tips about Rome and the local area.

Overall: We enjoyed it a lot. Enjoyed Most: The views. Enjoyed Least: Seating in the living room was a little uncomfortable. Surrounding Area: The area was just beautiful around every turn in the road. Tips or Restaurants: Stop at all the small towns--they all have something to offer, and the people are very nice. Directions: I did use GPS, though we really didn't have much trouble finding the property.

Overall: We had a lovely time although the weather was not cooperating. Gabriella was wonderful. The welcome dinner was great and the rooms are large. The whole house was very clean. We really enjoyed our stay. Enjoyed Most: The wonderful quietness of the property. Surrounding Area: The quaint towns and vineyards. Nearby Events or Locales: Gambassi Terme was the nearest town but the walking path was long and wet. Walking on the road seemed as though it would be unsafe. Directions: We used a GPS and it didn't work very well. A better sign out in front of the villa would have been helpful. Check In Out: Check in and check out was very easy.

Overall: We had a lovely time in the apartment and in Cortona. The property was comfortable, clean, and furnished nicely. The streets are steep in Cortona, so it's a bit of a workout with all the walking around--but worth it. We also visited the Cinque Terre, which was beautiful. Enjoyed Most: The view from the front windows. Surrounding Area: The beautiful landscapes, rooftops, colors. Nearby Events or Locales: A car is needed to visit other towns in the area. The famous "Bramasole" house owned by Frances Mayes is within walking distance through a beautiful park. Tips or Restaurants: Cortona has several good restaurants which was surprising for a small town. Trattoria la Grotta and Ristorante La Loggetta were very good meals. I would advise future travelers to pack light. You don't want to lug heavy suitcases around those streets. Directions: Directions were fine. We had a GPS.

Overall: Very good experience with excellent hospitality and awesome view. Very comfortable. Enjoyed Most: The view, atmosphere, and seating by the pool were the best! Enjoyed Least: The WiFi signal is weak. The bathroom shower is a bit small. Surrounding Area: Everything. The beach, chiringuitos, and old town are just a few minutes drive away. Manilva--a picturesque village--is about 15 minutes away and a lot of Costa del Sol is pretty close, such as Marbella, Casares, Puerto Banus, etc. Nearby Events or Locales: Estepona.Several places definitely within walking distance. Since we had a car, we preferred to take it so we didn't do much walking. Tips or Restaurants: The villa is well-equipped and Neville is extremely helpful so I wouldn't worry about bringing stuff. There are a couple of grocery store within a 5-minutes drive (walking distance) with everything available.Neville is also a gold mine in terms of restaurant recommendations. La Menorah (5 minutes walk) is one of the local gems and definitely a must. Directions: Directions were very detailed.Used a GPS in the rental so it was very easy. Check In Out: Absolutely great--Neville was there to greet us, helped us orient ourselves and settle in and check-out was a breeze.

Overall: We had a very nice experience at the property. Enjoyed Most: We absolutely loved the private balcony. It was very spacious and had a magnificent view. Enjoyed Least: Climbing the steps to get to the property (83 steps). It would be very difficult for someone who isn't fit. Also, the light at the front door did not stay on, so it was dark at night when we climbed back up the steps on our return home. Surrounding Area: The town of Positano is very charming and all of the little towns around Positano are easy to get to by bus or boat and are worth visiting, especially Amalfi and Ravello. Nearby Events or Locales: The apartment is located in the town of Positano, walking distance to the charming central area near the beach. There is also a bus stop at the bottom of the stairs and the bus can take you to the central area. Tips or Restaurants: If you have a smartphone, get a flashlight app in order to see as you climb the stairs at night. If not, bring a small flash light. Most of the restaurants are in the central area. My favorite ones were in the hotels "Villa Franca", near the property, and "Le Sirenuse". Also the Hotel Positano near the property has a nice breakfast buffet. Directions: We had a driver but would have had a problem without GPS. Check In Out: Definitely ask for a porter to help carry the luggage up the stairs. It cost us 25 Euros but was well worth the price.

Overall: We enjoyed our stay. It was very peaceful. Enjoyed Most: The location--near the highway but you couldn't hear it. Enjoyed Least: Kitchen is very small and the kitchen knives very dull. Surrounding Area: Close to Coop for groceries and winery areas within a couple of hours. Nearby Events or Locales: Castel del Bosco-yes, it's within walking distance. Tips or Restaurants: Try the butcher shop in Cappone--great meat and sausage Directions: Needed GPS; it was accurate.
