“I sent three parcels and around 20 cards from our local post office here in Cornwall to various destinations throughout the UK and every one was correctly delivered within a couple of days. However. on the flip side, I am still waiting on at least two parcels that were ordered on the 12th December and although the retailer has assured me they were promptly despatched via Royal mail, they have not yet arrived.
I think the Royal Mail has become a form of postcode lottery depending on the sorting offices used. It needs a massive shakeup but in the interim, I would follow the advice of other reviewees and check which courier the retailer is using. DPD do appear to be the best at present.”
“I have been waiting for 2 parcels from eBay since the 10th Dec, they are both tracked, you DON’T update your website so it’s a complete waste of time. Very disappointed. Hermes have come up trumps this year.”
“Absolute amateur, incompetent, ignorant company. Sent a parcel to Denmark 10 days ago, got to Heathrow and has not moved since.. No explanation,no contact number. Surely they are in breach of contract???”
“I have placed several orders for Christmas presents on eBay all placed on the 6th of December and I'm still waiting on them. I have even been given the tracking numbers but there absolutely useless as they state we will update when delivery has been attempted. Just a complete and utter shambles.”
“When will Royal Mail be declared Not Fit For Purpose. It obviously cannot cope in its present form and is desperate for reorganisation. Do not blame current circumstances for its demise, my area has known for some years that it has not received a 5 day service. Why is Royal Mail permitted its monopoly, whereby it yields an inferior service but demands an outlandish fee. I feel fleeced with no-one to offer protection. Current circumstances only highlight deficiencies, when will it change?”
“The Royal mail has always been bad but this year it has reached a whole new level terrible. I haven’t had post in nearly two weeks but I see the mailman EVERYDAY!!!! First my car key was stolen out of the mail in August. All I received was a £20 cheque for the inconvenience. Then my actual car was stolen at the end of August. (coincidence? I think not). I am now waiting for my late mothers death certificate to be sent back to me and train tickets that were ordered at the beginning of December. I’ve spoken to both companies and they have assured me that both the certificate and the tickets were sent out, they haven’t arrived!!! I also had a friend sending me a parcel for Christmas we both live in East London I have the tracking number, yet still nothing has been updated on the website. The Royal mail is a disgrace and a joke of a company. It Had a chance to be respectable respectable company. The sooner it’s broken up the better.”
“Delivery man sent text this morning to say delivering box of M&S wine (Xmas present) between 15:22 and 16:22. Paid extra for delivery today. Was loaded onto van 10:36, but after waiting all afternoon I checked tracking and it said that delivery man had returned to depot in Edinburgh at 18:51. Was supposed to deliver my Xmas presents to sister on Sunday, but the online tracking claims they will try to deliver next working day - ridiculous! Have had this before - they don't like delivering on a Friday evening. If stores would use DPD and Hermes then Royal Mail would have to improve.”
“A parcel sent on the 10th Dec has not been delivered yet and the tracking details for a next day delivery parcel I was due to receive on the 15th hasn’t changed since Monday. Parcels I have sent with other companies have shown accurate tracking information and been delivered in the specified time. If Royal Mail is having problems with their deliveries, then why do they continue to accept more parcels? I for one will never use them again and will check when purchasing to see which carrier they use!”
“A large letter was posted to me on the 23rd of November, it never arrived. The Item was re-posted to me on the 9th December (both 1st class tracked and signed for), second attempt has still not arrived. Absolute joke of a company.”
“My son ordered flowers to be delivered on my wife’s birthday. He ordered them well in advance.unfortunately the company use Royal Mail.
Despite the flowers being collected by the courier 2days before delivery they were actually delivered 6 days late.
So they had the flowers 8 days.
Who wants week old flowers 6 days after their birthday.
I told the delivery guy to return them”
“The sooner Royal Mail and Parcel force are privatised the better as they are not fit for purpose. For the fourth time this year there have been delays with deliveries. I have paid for next day service for an item that should have arrived on the 16th of the 12th, it is now 6pm 18th of the 12th. By comparison I have received three other packages via other carriers on time, why ?”
“So annoyed the postman has said he was unable to deliver my parcel - Didn't leave a card so I had to call the company I bought the gifts from and they told me - I am trying to call Royal Mail to book a collection instead and there service is so unhelpful.
@RoyalMail this year has been hard enough for everyone & now I have no idea where my parcel is or how to get through to you? I just feel like crying.”
“What a joke. I know its Christmas so times are busy but come on. I sent a parcel on the 12th which is only going somewhere an hour away. Its now the 18th and the tracking says it hasn't even left my local depot yet. Are you having laugh? Its been sat there for 6 days? I could've walked the damn thing there myself and back in 6 days. What an absolute joke. At Christmas they should just charge everyone a flat rate and make no promises to deliver by a date because that's clearly what happens. They just love grabbing your money. Royal mail? More like royal fail.”
“Royal Mail has only helped to make things much worse during the pandemic by delaying deliveries by several weeks. Thank you (for messing things up)!
P.S. Your employees look exhausted, drained and, obviously, underpaid.”
“Bought an item that was posted on the 11th with a tracking number but it's still in transit and it is now the 18th. I have had other items delivered that were posted after the 11th untracked. What's the deal with the not so Royal Mail service. I wont be using them ever again. If anyone is buying on Amazon, Ebay and the seller is offering are post through RM avoid them, or ask them to change courier.
Disgusting service”
“I sent an important item by Tracked 48. Sent on Monday. Now it's Friday. Since posting, there have been no tracking updates and the item has not arrived. Why did I bother to pay extra?”
“Useless service at present sent item on 2/12 never arrived resent signed for 9/12 only message I still get when I track is we will update when delivery is attempted 10 days later.
SW london to N london impossible to get any contact unless by phone currently minimum 1 hour wait and they probably wont solve when I get through so looks like a tube journey across London as this item is vital for customer. Price increases all the time with no improvement of services we also have not had any post delivered for two days at present.”
“I have posted eight parcels all 1st class signed for on the 12th of December and not one has been delivered to date 17th Dec. The online tracking says that they have been accepted at the Post Office on the 12th and that's it, no more information! Absolutely useless service! I don't want to hear the Coronavirus excuse any more I'm sick of it, this is just lousy service and ripping the public off for a service the Royal Mail are not providing.
From now on I will avoid using Royal Mail wherever possible because they are an absolute disgrace!”
