“The service was okay. The oak handrail quality is poor, small split in the end of the handrail and the finish required lots of rubbing/sanding to get a finish to apply seal. Disappointing.”

“I placed my order for three handrails which were all delivered promptly. When I tried to connect the brackets to the handrails, the spacing between the holes in the handrail was wider than the spacing between the holes in the bracket. I contacted Simple Handrails and have been advised that the wrong brackets had been sent by mistake. I've been told that replacement brackets have been dispatched. The error is unfortunate but the response and solution was very good.”

“I am unable to write a review as I have not yet received my order despite paying extra for assured delivery before 24 Dec so would appreciate a refund of the express delivery charge. My husband was released from hospital on Christmas Day and the handrails are essential for him to manage our stairs. Please look into your delivery service and check where my order is. All I can tell is that it was despatched on 23 Dec. Thank you.”

“I was looking for a handrail after my wife had fallen down the stairs, I had difficulty acquiring one from the timber merchants so went on line to check out where I came across simple rails, I liked the look of the products and ordered the oak handrail and I wasn't disappointed when it arrived as the quality was excellent and it was easy to fix to the wall,make sure you pre drill holes on the rail with a thin drill before fixing brackets as it is a hardwood and if you don't the screws will break,no hesitation in recommending this company”

“The handrails and fixings are of good quality and my initial queries were dealt with politely and efficiently. Two areas for improvement are: 1. It would be helpful to your customers if a small centre hole was drilled at the ends of each rail to show where to screw the end cap plastic fittings. 2. Installation guidance was not supplied with the delivery. On request you efficiently supplied email guidance. Unfortunately this guidance was (in my view) incorrect and inadequate. If you need further input I will be pleased to give my views”

“Great handrail, good brackets, terrible fixings. What should have been an easy job became far more involved. The fixings supplied are really cheap, the screws are large but made of soft metal, the plugs are relatively small leading at almost every screw camming out. One totally rounded meaning drilling the head off and leaving the rest in the wall. In the end I went to toolstation for 200 no5 x 50mm stainless screws, they were perfect and fit the bracket recesses well, although ultimately I ended up with 195 screws too many for a cost of almost £14.”

Hi Gary, Thank you for your reviews. All our screws are stainless steel high-quality screws. They are certified and are tested for the job. From previous experience, it looks like you have used the wrong type of tool to install the rails. In our instructions, we say do not use an impact driver, and always ensure the right size driver is used. The screws you have purchased from Toolstation are chipboard screws and are not up to the job. This unfortunately is an installation error. It is also a common mistake that plugs have to be bigger than the screws used. They do not. A plug should always be smaller than the screw in length. We have sold over 35k handrails to many happy customers and very rarely have any issues and this is certainly the first we have had with our screws. I have tried to reach out to you via email twice and we haven't had a reply. We have also had no correspondence from you apart from these reviews.
