“£175 offer for varifocal lenses? No. £40 to send frames: £60 for thinner lenses for coating.£60 etc etc. NEVER anywhere near the quoted price. It veers dangerously close to mis-selling. Will go elsewhere”
“Absolute shambles. I had an eye-test in York five weeks ago (I don't live in York but was there for the weekend). I confirmed the prescription, chose the frames, and paid for it all - £165. I was assured that the glasses would be sent to my local Specsavers (Manchester) within two weeks. Six weeks later I am still trying to track down my glasses. The York branch took my payment within 24 hours but, six weeks later, my local branch say they know nothing about my glasses. This is apparently because my local Specsavers use a completely different online system to the York Specsavers. 'Should have gone to Specsavers'? Don't go to Specsavers. Just don't.”
“Specsavers Hampton audiology department. Great service until they have your money. £1256 for one hearing aid, they said 2 weeks, so I had the moulding of my ear done, then after a few days I get a call to say that your ear is too small for the rechargeable version, so I agree to the battery style. The night before my Thursday appointment for fitting, I get a call to say your aid has been delayed with the courier, it won't arrive until after your scheduled 9.15 am appointment. So I ask when can I collect it then? On Monday sir from our branch in Staines, we are too busy at Hampton to fit you in!
Needless to say I cancelled my order and have had my refund, They will no longer be getting my business for hearing or my glasses.”
“Terrible experience with this optician. Over £400 paid for new glasses with varifocals.
Having used varifocals for 20 years I know how they work but the new glasses lenses were clearly (or unclearly) faulty. Returned 4 times for rectification, measurements retaken every time as if my eyeballs or lenses had grown since the previous measurement, all with no effect. 5th time of returning I spoke to the manager who could not understand why I wanted to speak to her but admitted that they had misunderstood my issue at every visit. Got my money back and visited another optician.”
“Absolutely terrible experience, even now after 4 visits and remakes the glasses are bad and I cant see what is so difficult as I seem to be able to read my laptop screen with a 3.99 pair of ready readers and yet Specsavers cannot seem to get my prescription correct or the bifocal. The staff are very polite, but there seems to be a lack of technical understanding and seeing 4 different opticians doesnt seem to help with continuity!”
“fantastic experience the optician, Klaydia, was brilliant explaining everything and helping me understand the photographs and the machines, explaining what they look at and why it was important. Then Alison the sales assistant helped me pick two frames, she was my age and very thoughtful, She really helped me sellect frames.”
“I was very pleased with the service I received today at the north end branch, I was assisted to choose my glasses by a lovely, patient and efficient lady Meire Cornwell. Thank you it was very much appreciated.”
“After neglecting my eyesight for many years I bit the bullet and with a present of vouchers from my son I took the eye tests and went to spec savers at carpet trades way kidderminster. The staff made me feel so relaxed as I was so nervous (as there's a lot of eye issues in my family.) The staff were brilliant all friendly especially a blonde lady with such a stunning bubbly personality.
Anyway to cut a long story short. I can now see brilliantly, every leaf, face and even number plates. The choice of glasses there was amazing as I struggle to find something that suits me.
From start to finish an A1 5 star service. Thank you.”
“Had an eye test done in Carmarthen branch by a worker this Monday afternoon.
She, the optician, must have worked on a factory production line in a past life because the 'end game' was all to her. I struggled seeing the lines/ letters on the screen and told her I was guessing and couldn't see them well. She second guessed me and said, "well you can see them can't you because you are reading them." At the end I received a buyers remorse pep talk about the wonders of their technology showing me that I haven't got such & such disease etc. As she supposedly showed me this wonder on her screen, she was speaking so fast that I'd missed my cue to turn from the screen in front of me and look with her at her computer screen.
I have so little confidence in her professionalism that I felt the need to book another eye-test somewhere else. My friend suggested I go to Specsavers. His positive experience was with an older optician who happened have spoken Welsh.
As I waited to pay, a worker said to the person taking my money "you've a lot on today" She said looking a couple of forms in front of her " Yes I have to clear the bask here" He said, "Yes you've got got to clear the basket".
Won't be going back there ever. It was like a first year university common room or a 6 form.”
“We’ve been served by a very friendly man called Luke Summers. He was very nice and welcoming and explained everything we need to know about my daughter short sighted. We had a great experience.”
“If I could give 0 stars, I would.
They cancelled my appointment at the close of business the evening before my appointment first thing next morning, no explanation, not even an apology.
I left a review on another site and was asked to contact them on X, or Facebook ,which I did, I gave the relevant information that they might need on the X platform and I’ve heard nothing since.
Avoid at all costs!!”
“Booked an appointment for Home visit month in advance. On the day of the appointment, I called them, as the time had passed for the appointment. 1 hour later having called them they told me the car had broke down on the way to my home. I asked could I have not been informed, they told me the optitian had not got his phone on him😖, needless to say they offered me another appt in a months time, I declined. Home Visit not efficient service and found to be inadequate. The advert they put out 'should of gone to specsavers' recommended boots or local opticians.”
“I had a terrible experience at specsavers sydenham....I arrived at my appointment at 10.30...and had repeated tests done over and over...the same tests..which quite frankly frightened the life out of me...I was there till 1.20pm...3hrs.....I was so stressed by the time I left the shop and had to lay down when I went home as I had a horrendous headache....I don't know why they kept repeating the same tests.....I will never go back there again after I pick my glasses up”
