Ovi (Tottenham Court Road) is a thief Ovi, the Tottenham Court Road store manager I am told, is a lying, thieving, gaslighting charletan. He first messed up my order, ordering me lenses 100% made from the chemical I expressly and repeatedly discussed with him I am severely allergic to. This was a fact I had discussed at length with an older white man serving there, and two younger women, who had also assisted me in the weeks immediately prior in choosing allergy safe for me frames. Ovi having ordered me unsuitable lenses, evwntually conceded they were wrong. We then discussed at length the lens types available, I did research on these, and I identified one which might potentiallysuit. Seconds later, we had a 10-15 min conversation about lens coating materials, during which I insisted multiple times I would mot be able toproceed with confirming an order without explicit information as to what the lens coatings comprised chemically, so as not to include my chemical allergen. He made notes of the same on the computer terminal in front of him at the time (which I didn't see) and he then said he was away on Monday, but would call the lab on Tuesdaytomakr further enquiries as agreed as towhatthe lens coating was made of, and would call to let me know then. Having not heard for yet another week, and the phone set to always just automatically hang up on all calls,I stopped by the store yetagain to see whatthw lab had said. He then informed me that he had placed an order, not at all to even my original specifications, without consulting me about the same. Reminding him ad nauseum about this, he proceeded to lie tomy face repeatedly, gaslight me repeatedly anout myallergies, and refused to refund my order. I advised that as they did not correctly fulfil my order, then could not fulfil it, then would not attempt to fulfil it, I would need toinstead go elsewhwre topurchase glasses instead, which he repeatedly agreed I should do. As agreed, I did so and have had no problems elsewhere - it's even much much easier. Ovi now keeps insisting that as store manager he "cannot" refund my order anytime I speak to him, but insists I " call back" then "visit again" then " call back" on multiple occasions on a broken record loop. He is now insisting that he won't refund my order and is insisting on deducting a fee for the second set of lenses he ordered without my request/permission/consent and in express contradiction of my order as paid for. He is now "unavailable", " uncontactable" and says none of his staff / colleagues have authorityto refund my order either. I am now being held hostage by having to attend their store in person as many days as humanly possible to try to get my refund put through. Absolutely insane nightmare. Avoid like the plagueand go literally ANYWHERE else. Such a shame, as the older white guy serving customers up front in the glasses section is a dream to get assistance fromin choosing frames. Impossible to get the store to follow through or respect their legal obligations though. Ovi is a criminal here. Ref: 377527 Date of experience: August 02, 2024

I went in today into Spec Savers store in Coquitlam Center,Thursday 8th August 2024 @ 11:20am for my appointment to pick up my two pairs of prescription glasses. I had spent over $1000 dollars on them. The girl said do you want a bag for those glasses? I said yes please. She said you have to pay .30cents for the Bag. She looked at my Bill and said you didn't pay for the paper bag it doesn't say on the Bill. I'am disabled with a cane and have one set of hands left. I had to carry them both by one hand because I had no change on me to pay. I don't think I should pay .30cents after spending over $1000 Dollars. I've never been treated this way before in any other Spec store. It's Disgusting to be treated this way. Luckily I don't have to go back for another two years. I would not recommend that store.

At first eye test I was told that I needed new glasses. When I collected them they were no use so a second test was booked. At this test-done by the same optician- i was told that i didn't really need new glasses and she gave me a new prescription which was the same as the glasses that I had been wearing for the past two and a half years. So I have been conned out of over two hundred pounds by Specsavers in Elgin. Avoid this store at all costs or you may be conned like me.

Specsavers Ipswich I feel mislead me and didn’t point out important information when buying Glasses, have been customer do many many years as well as all may family that a lot of glasses. Very disappointed with manager. Will not be going back and I’m sure I’ll convince my family and possibly friends not to as well. Some times it not about the money it’s the principle.

Secunda Specsavers are and totally unprofessional. Not giving their patients the correct prescription and make them come back time and again. I personally know about 4 patients who had numerous issues. They are rude especially the ladies at the counter. Not even talking about how they lie to their patients just to make extra money and shunt them around. They don't even deserve 1 star. I am posting on behalf of the patients I know. I will never go to them.

Requested a home visit. Then had to call as nobody turned up only to be told someone was ill and they booked another appointment. Day of new appointment came and yet again nobody turned up! Called again and they said the appointment was never booked. Useless service and staff. Save your time and go elsewhere.

I made an appointment at Specsavers as according to their website if I had diagnosed glaucoma my testing would be free I am also a pensioner of 72 yrs old. I was called this morning asking me why I thought I was covered by NHS appointment I told them I needed new glasses but the receptionist said I wasn't eligible because my recall appointment wasn't due til February next year which means I have to either 'soldier on' with ineffective specs or pay privately to see an optician. Why bother saying on website that those diagnosed with glaucoma are covered by NHS when clearly they are not according to the person who called me this morning from the Corby northants store. When I do get my 'recall' appointment I certainly won't be giving Specsavers my business I'm appalled.

I spoke on the phone with a worker from spec savers in barkingside Ilford about my daughter who has been getting severe headaches only when she wears her glasses and I got shouted at and the woman was so rude and told me to call my gp instead even though I told her that the headaches are from the glasses.

Horrible horrible delivery service. Ordered glasses online and was told it would arrive in 10 days. Ended up waiting two weeks only to be told it would take yet another week. Had to cancel my order in the end. These people need to understand that glasses are not luxury items that we can wait forever for. People’s lives and safety depend on it. Been practically blind for weeks thanks to this company. If I had known, I’d have saved myself the time and bought it somewhere else from the beginning. Extremely disappointing!

I used to work for this company. I worked for 8-10 different stores over the course of 10 years. Heres whats actually going on- retail directors are not optical people they are retail people. They are paid large sums of money/bonuses based on how much volume they can put through the store. Specsavers will not hire area managers from optical background because it is cheaper, they also will no longer pay the higher wages to older members of staff with experience. The last store I worked at had 8 apprentices and 8 pre-reg (student) optometrists, again cheap labour. Trouble is guys, we are not selling coffee are we? Optometrists are paid bonuses based on how high their conversion rate is. Conversion rate means how many tests they can turn into purchases. Their greed and pressure on staff to achieve this has led to prescription changes that were not necessary, patients returning with headaches from being over plussed on their reading adds and varifocals being recommended to patients with no distance prescription. The poor patient spends £300-£400 on glasses they could have got for £29 and just made them into reading glasses. I cannot express to you the general public, how corrupt this company had become, and the risk to patient safety which is why I personally no longer, and will never work got this company again.

After eye test, I was told I needed to update both my long distance and reading glasses, so paid £130.00 total to get new glasses, but there was absolutely no difference from existing glasses, so I took them back and got a refund. Shocking that they see fit to take money from people they know they are not helping to improve their vision, as they knew I have some macular degeneration, and cataracts, but they took my money regardless! Don't be fooled.

Unless you have a whole afternoon or morning to spare do not bother getting a eye test with them, their time keeping is appalling.

Response to tracey watkins. The consumer rights act depicts that your item must be fit for purpose for two years, Ie if the glasses do not fit correctly, or you cannot see clearly through the lenses, because they are a bespoke item made specifically to your requirements, the company has the right, to make an attempt to fix the issue by way of retest/exchange, if they are unable to solve the issue you are entitled to a full refund. The best way to complain is either social media, or the general optical council, who would maybe be able to assist you in directing your complaint to the right body of council.
