“After shopping around in person and online, and after significant delays and problems ordering from stores like Home Depot & Lowes I found tankless water heater depot and Richard Romano. Richard was prompt at replying to emails and answering questions that I had. I live at 7600 feet elevation so finding a tankless water heater that would even work here was a challenge, home depot told me they didn't carry anything that would work here they also told me they wouldn't ship to me because I live in a rural area (closest store was 180 miles round trip) The prices were better than most places i had found so i decided to give it a shot, after all we had been boiling water for baths and showers for a couple months after our old heater went south on us (family of 5). The Rheem showed up in a timely manner as described, it was even delivered on time which is rare for my neighborhood. Got the unit installed with only a few hiccups. I ordered the "concentric vertical/horizontal termination kit" which needed a few extra parts in order to use, one was a 30° "elbow" that was not included with the kit and the hardware store didn't carry anything like that . They had 45°s but that wouldn't work also the unit is equipped with a 2 inch inlet outlet/vent and the termination kit was 3 inch so it needed two adapters from 3 to 2 inch . These were minor setbacks all in all. After installing the unit, the gas system venting, condensate drain, and pressure relief drain, pressure testing,leak checking and following all the steps that were required we fired up the unit and have been enjoying hot water endlessly since. It's only been about 5 days and I'm very pleased so far. I will definitely do business with Richard again in the future. As a side note I ordered a few accessories along with the unit namely a WiFi system that I didn't need also a water softener unit that is very cumbersome and inconvenient to have installed so I'd advise anyone to get only the accessories that are necessary and save a few bucks. This was not Richards fault as I ordered the items willfully. I'd recommend this product and company to provide it. Hope this helps someone . Cheers”
“Myself and my wife are both wondering why we didn't get a tankless water heater when the kids were all still home. We don't use hot water like we did then however our old water heater was far away from the point of use because of the flue used for its exhaust, this tankless one was installed were the water is used, big difference. “The only issue I've encountered is that with todays low flow fixtures the heater will not always activate. It trys and then eventually gives up. I have to open another fixture on the first floor to get hot water on the second. I have plenty of pressure just not enough flow.”
Hello Cathie and Michael. Thank you for your review and feedback. The unit does need 0.4 gallons per minute to turn on, which is just short of a normal hand sink on full. Once activated the flow rate can be reduced down to 0.1 gallons per minute which is a hand sink barely on, but it does take about a hand sink's full water pressure to first turn on. If that is not the case you may want to contact Rheem tech support to see if there is a setting or something that needs to be adjusted. That number is 1-800-432-8373.
