The AA call handler refused to send a breakdown vehicle because I didn't have proof that I owned the vehicle immediately to hand. I offered to send a screenshot of the monthly payment that I have unfailingly sent to AA Insurance on the first banking day for the last fourteen months. This was refused. I explained that I have Type 2 diabetes and was starting to feel very light headed. The call handler said that I should go to the nearest shop and buy something to eat. I explained that it would be dangerous for me to do so as the area is unsafe after usual shopping hours. Consequently, I had to hire a taxi to get me home at a cost of £14 which I can ill afford. I consider the level of service to have been entirely unsatisfactory given the circumstances noted above. Yours faithfully, Gillian Bryant.

So the AA thinks it’s ok to leave a 72 year old man with medical conditions and his wife in a hot car without water or food for over 5 hours only for the recovery vehicle to show up and take them half way home and then have to wait another few hours waiting for another recovery vehicle.

I am extremely disappointed with the AA’s recovery service. My car broke down on August 5th, and I was assured that it would be delivered to my address within 48 hours. However, a week has passed, and my vehicle is still not delivered. Despite numerous calls to customer service, I keep receiving new, unfulfilled delivery dates. This situation has caused significant disruptions to my work because I need important company items stored in the car. I expected much better service from the AA, and this experience has been incredibly frustrating.

Been a member for 23 years and couldn't say enough good things about AA BUT...Got a call out. Came promptly but never stopped talking about himself, how creatures came out of the sea to him, how he piloted a nuclear submarine, on and on. When it came to lifting the hood he couldn't find the rod that props it up!!! It was where they always are! This man did not have his mind on the job. Diagnosed alternator not battery. Having no faith in this man I asked for another call out two days later. Got the same man, adamant it was alternator. Tow truck came, a flat bed, the operator and I watching my bumper being dragged along the ground until I said said something. Garage phoned to tell me fault was battery. Had to pay for new one, $136 dearer than if AA man had done his job, correct diagnosis and fitted an AA battery. Spent many many hours trying to make the complaint about this peculiar man and sort out the bill. I, as usual, waiting for a call. This is the shortened version of what happened. Don't know if I would cancel my membership but this mechanic needs a talking to and their communication format should be improved.

Let down again by the AA, called them out today to my privately registered van which i use for work, the guy looked at my company name on the van and walked off saying we don’t do commercial!! Beware if you use your vehicle for work, apparently there is a much more expensive policy you can take out, maybe they should ask the question when you first sign up for cover

Patrolman Dave was excellent and diagnosed a faulty fuel pump therefore our campervan needed recovery. Because of the time, it was collected the next day by a 'contractor' who left diesel spill all over our driveway and road and apparently took our beloved campervan to a 'service area' to be collected by another 'contractor' We were told that delivery to our garage would be the next day, so we asked the AA to contact the second contractor to ensure our campervan would be stored in a secure compound overnight. They refused. We then learn our beloved campervan was sitting on an industrial estate close to a 'traveller' camp. We repeatedly asked the AA to contact the 'contractor' to ensure our campervan was stored in a secure compound overnight, but they refused and said they had more important people needing their help Terrible service

Our luggage was left behind in London. After many, many calls one person helped in locating and transporting bag to US. US based customer service is very unhelpful and hard to get to. Second day at home and bag is still not with us. Responses from customer service are different and not making any sense at all!

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the AA breakdown service. Our experience was nothing short of a nightmare, and it has left us deeply disappointed with the service provided. Our car broke down at 6:30 pm, and it took the first recovery vehicle two hours to arrive. This initial wait was frustrating, but it was only the beginning of a long and exhausting ordeal. Instead of taking us directly home, the first vehicle merely transported us to a service station where we had to wait for another recovery vehicle. This second wait lasted three more hours. When the second recovery vehicle finally arrived, it again did not take us home but instead transported us to yet another service station. We were then left waiting for a third recovery vehicle, which took an additional two hours to arrive. By the time we finally reached home, it was 4:30 am the next day. Our journey, which began at 6:30 pm, lasted a staggering 10 hours. This was especially distressing as we had a 6-year-old child with us and a friend who has significant health issues. The entire experience was absolutely horrible and ridiculous. Throughout this ordeal, there was no consideration for our comfort or well-being. Given the extensive delays, we should have been offered an overnight lodge to rest and recuperate, but no such option was provided. The lack of empathy and efficient service was appalling. In summary, the AA breakdown service failed us in every possible way. The prolonged waits, the unnecessary transfers between service stations, and the complete disregard for our comfort and safety made this a harrowing experience. I urge the AA to review and improve their service to prevent others from enduring such an ordeal.

53 year AA Gold membership Counts for nothing. You get an Atlas Pay for replacement car extra Never had one in 3 requests They now elect NOT TO ATTEND flood stopped or misfueled and other unintended breakdowns Rather they add £100 for themselves and phone other providers £265 for petrol in diesel. I got it easily for £160 If they don't attend ( their choice ) you can't qualify for the replacement car YOU PAY THEM FOR Private equity profiteering? Go elsewhere

I have 3 cars, 2 are over 20 years old, the youngest is 12. With vehicle's like this, there will be niggly issues that arise. No matter what the fault or where I've been travelling in the UK when they occur, the AA has always swiftly and effectively solved my issues - even unusual ones such as my soft top not re-attching to the main body correctly. The road side help, towing and at home assistance has been perfect each time, and each AA technician has been friendly and kind.

This company steals your money shamelessly!!! I paid for an emergency service as my battery went dead, 3 kids inside the car, a person came, told me they didn’t have the battery and left. I paid £160 to be told that and left in the same situation. Had to hire another company to finally be able to move my car. Made a complaint but even thought they recognise they couldn’t help me, they refuse any refund. Avoid this company at all costs or you’ll be robbed too!

I ordered an AA inspection for a potential new car, and the experience was dreadful from start to finish. I used their inspection service for an Audi, paying £235. Despite this high fee, the inspection was outsourced to third-party inspectors. They checked the car and assured me that there were no issues with the bodywork or any other problems, providing a report that everything was in perfect condition. The inspection took place in a car park, and they failed to notice oil in the shock absorber, essentially just taking some useless pictures. When I traveled 2.5 hours each way to see and purchase the car, I immediately discovered that it had been poorly sprayed and painted all over. This was obvious to the naked eye, both in sunlight and shade. Opening the car door revealed rough edges of paint. The windscreen had been replaced with a cheap one, poorly attached, and none of this was mentioned in the report. Upon noticing these issues, I used a Thickness Gauge to further inspect the car and recorded a video, from which I will attach screenshots. Additionally, the non-Audi windscreen replacement was easy to spot. The inspector did not send any pictures of the car’s oily suspension, and the inspection was conducted outdoors, not in a garage. I suspect there were more issues with the car, but I stopped my inspection and drove back due to these significant problems. Otherwise, I cannot understand how such obvious flaws were missed. I am convinced this was intentional. After writing to their customer service, I received this response: “We can only inspect the vehicle as presented on the day of inspection, regardless of weather conditions. It is also a possibility, whilst we are not suggesting this, the windscreen may have been replaced after our inspection. Whilst we accept you may remain dissatisfied, the decision has been made not to uphold your complaint and no further action will be taken on this occasion.” However, I could easily see the paint issues and verified them with a thickness gauge. The windscreen was the same as in the report pictures, and I don’t think the seller could have changed it overnight. And they didn’t want to be responsible and just do a refund. Overall, it’s absolutely unacceptable for a company that charges a premium price for their inspections. AVOID this company. It’s a scam. Don’t buy anything from them. They just want to take your money and not provide a proper service. I have already started the Mastercard Chargeback and am now preparing to sue them with my lawyer.
