“Absolutely awful. I advise everyone to ask the property management company they are dealing with if they partner with the LettingsHub and if they do, do NOT go ahead with it. Took so long with checks despite stating it only takes 24/48 hours, I had no personal contact from anyone at the company but they expect me to consent to Online Banking checks despite me sending every bit of proof to them about my income. Just ridiculous for a company to be so out of reach with their customers, definitely don’t recommend.”
“pure harassment - avoid at all costs
continually asking for the same information numerous times, even though already provided. obscene amounts of texts / emails, very difficult to actually speak with anyone. They do not take GDPR seriously.
Financial checks as the guarantor are too in-depth (they asked for 3 mths payslips - provided - they then asked for an employer reference - provided, now they want to see my contract of employment!!! as a guarantor - this is beyond acceptable ) . I have never, in all the years of acting as my sons guarantor , have I experienced such harassment”
“Awful awful
Don’t know what they are doing
Something so simple takes weeks !!
Seriously if I had known that the estate agents used this people, would have never signed
Another estate agent was so so easy.”
“Worst referencing company ever. The landlord said it won't take more than 3 days to do the referencing. It took them 2 weeks to do the referencing.
If your bank is not on their list of open banking then be prepared to wait a long while before the referencing is done.
Instead of them chasing you, you will have to chase them. To call them you will have to hold for 20 mins each time before you get to one of the 'customer service advisor'.
LITERALLY THE WORST Referencing company. If your profile has been sent to them be mentally prepared to be harrassed.”
“Terrible service. It took over three weeks to complete referencing checks, only for my son's rental application to be declined. As guarantors, we were at no point informed. This agency expects the clients to do all the work for them, requesting that proposed referees call them, only from a landline, not a mobile. I received many requests to contact the office but did not receive a single reply to any of the emails sent or any response to the voicemails left. In all the calls I made, I could only get through once. Nearly a month has been wasted. We were subjected to the most intrusive financial checks as guarantors. I have never, in all the years of acting as my children's guarantors, experienced a service as bad as this. Avoid.”
“Let me start by saying that if I could give this so-called "service" negative stars, I would do so without hesitation. Dealing with this organization has been nothing short of a descent into the depths of incompetence and despair. I wouldn't wish my experience upon my worst enemy, because they don't deserve this level of torment.
Their referencing checks? A tragic comedy of errors. It's as if they've taken the concept of efficiency and flushed it down the drain. Do they even understand the word "priority"? My application, supposedly marked as such, has languished in their abyss for an eternity. Do basic principles of decency and communication evade their minds? Or do they take pleasure in leaving applicants in the dark, desperately seeking any sliver of information?
Their affinity for dishonesty is astonishing. They casually claim reports have been sent, when in reality, their claims are as hollow as their commitment to work. Their work ethic is so laughable that it's borderline insulting. I've been reduced to relentlessly hounding these inept individuals day in and day out, hoping for a glimpse of progress. The fact that I have to stoop to this level should be an eternal source of shame for them.
Listen up, you absolute nincompoops. Either put some real effort into my application – which, by the way, bears the tenancy reference number 0559875 – or do everyone a favor and shut down your farcical "service" for good. The mere thought of subjecting myself to their excuse for referencing checks in the future makes my stomach churn. The collective incompetence within this organization is staggering; I'm genuinely amazed they haven't collapsed under the weight of their own idiocy.”
“The reviews sum it up very clearly to the point that I don't need to really add much more.
They clearly fake their google reviews (illegal) just to top it off.
This company is the worst company I have ever dealt with and I hope for everyone else's benefit that they go bankrupt.
Shame on you lettinghub.
I would actively avoid any rental that associates with these guys.”
“I am sick and tired of this company, we’ve sent all the financial info several times over, given access to our bank account numerous times (against my better judgment) and still they send messages asking for more information, but helpfully don’t tell you what the want! You try ringing them, or emailing or live chat …. No response! It’s supposed to be a stress free service, what a joke, I still don’t know what they want from me and guess what, I kinda don’t care now, I’ve gone back to the estate agent and they are sorting it”
“The most awful service. Totally unprofessional and it takes them ages to verify documents. Provide you with incorrect information and requests. Highly unrecommended.”
“Avoid!!!!!!!!! If it's letting hub, don't deal with them. They close your case and lie to you when you are calling them for details. I don't know how they are qualified to run a business in the market.”
“This is the worst letting reference company. Any agency using this, and you somehow ended up with them in the process of renting your new home, it’s best to just cancel your application to avoid wasting your time and incessantly repeating the same information over and over again. Just a word of advice”
“Read the previous one star reviews, they are quite accurate and our experience reflected the incompetence exhibited by the Lettings Hub. Although renting as a couple, my wife and I had to apply and submit documents and references separately. We have a joint bank account. Apparently they cannot cross-reference any of this and the same bank statement(s) are required to be uploaded by both of us.
I have been asked fewer questions and provided less documentation for mortgages in the past.
Our previous landlord reference checks was a masterclass in incompetence by the Lettings Hub. Although we both provided an email and a reference letter provided by our landlord, the Lettings Hub insisted on phoning the landlord. They had all the info on our landlord including where he lived (West coast of North America). So what time do they phone to speak with him? 9am and 11am UK time. That makes it 1am and 3am in the morning. They wondered why he would not answer…
Overall it took 17 days for the referencing checks to be completed. I understand that depending on what letting agency you are using you may not have a choice of who conducts your reference checks. If given a choice I would certainly avoid the Lettings Hub.”
“My husband and are offered to be guarantors so my daughter could get a flat,we filled in all paper work with bank statements, however that was so complicated with endless emails asking us for more information which was not relevant at all, plus a advisor gave us wrong advice which was so stressful i nearly gave up,in fact we were so wired up we made a mistake which now have to correct with Chloe on monday as she was the most helpful. We get good pensions,so why are we on trial.”
“Such an extremely prescriptive view, narrow minded use of people. All people have to fit into a full time job and provide a plethora of paperwork to prove this. If you do not have one piece of paperwork you may be denied. I went straight through these checks as I am considered ‘normal’ with a permanent contact. However if you do not fit into this very prescriptive narrative you will NOT pass reference checks. My partner works in film which is contract work, he earns over 75,000 per year. The lettings hub would not accept this type of work or references for this at all. That means if you are temping, contract work, self employed mark my words your will have serious trouble with these idiots. What a horrendous way to try and make people conform into one little way of living a life. By the way if you do work in one of these industries which many of us do they will ask you to show you have savings to pay the full rent - in our case this was 46,000. If you cannot show this, you cannot proceed.
Lettings hub you really need to change your way of working it is horrible, narrow minded and prescriptive. It’s almost laughable that you are stopping hardworking people who do not fit into this ridiculous narrative from having a home despite them earning a high salary. People do not and will not fit into little boxes which you subscribe, allow for human difference.
God forbid you are student in this process.
Letting agents- unsure why you use this hideous service. Such a cause of anxiety and upset just because you have a job which is not ‘permanent’.
It actually makes me sad about the way of the world and that companies like this are trying to make us quite literally into one type of human. Quite frankly it’s frightening this is allowed.
No wonder we have such a homeless problem.”
“Unbearably bad experience.
After speaking to a kind llass who helped me fill the form, Chloe Young, it’s all been down hill.
My referee has been waiting to hear from them, she has written them a letter to write to her directly to ask the details, the agent has been told she hasn’t been in touch with them. It’s all been hell. I’m loving in boxes at tenterhooks!
A very clumsy and twisted procedure it’s all been.”
