Having ordered my 30x garden ready Cosmos plug plants on the 24th May. I had to wait 35 working days (7 weeks) for them to arrive, only to find that half were good enough to plant out. The others were either less than 3 inches with very little root or broken off at the same high. Emailed customer service but didn’t get any reply. Although the 15 plants grew well only 5 flowered. Very disappointed with the service. Would not recommend.

Bought several packets of flower seeds. Started them off inside to plant out later, as per instructions. Watered, plenty of sunshine. Not a thing appeared. Then last week, much excitement when several seedlings came up. Turned out they were wild poppies from seeds I had collected on a walk. Nothing to do with T & M.

Bought 12 strawberry runners, 6 looked very poor, planted and cared for them but 3 didn't recover. Have emailed their customer care team numerous times over months but still no reply. They are not worth the hassle.

Ordered 10 bulb baskets last week, in stock but need 72 hours to get to delivery position - fine. One week later, no product received. Have just checked the tracker and it says delivery end November - two month time! Have asked what's happening but no response, so want my money back as I am sure I can buy the baskets elsewhere.

Ordered 13 August for delivery within a fortnight. Posted 8th September, arrived 12 September. Cunning packing but contents unacceptable. 48 plug plants of which 10 might be considered acceptable. One plug with nothing in it, others might just as well have not been there as they were wilted beyond any hope. The majority might just be viable but it will be a struggle. Instructions are bordering on a joke as they cover all situations, summer bedding, winter bedding etc all on one small sheet and in the most general terms. I shall not place any future orders with Thomson and Morgan and I advise against others doing so.

I was bought a patio pond plant basket earlier in the year. The delivery was held up and kept hanging on for 3 days (ie given lots of ETAs which kept changing), one plant had dried out. We did plant it up but there's insufficient gravel so had to add more stones. Surprisingly all the plants seemed to revive and started to grow. It was fine at first but soon became unslightly as full of algae and green slime as of course stagnant water. Instructions how to improve the water quality would be a great advantage. The pontederia cordata doesn't seem to like these conditions and any new growth soon dies off. One plus, it's a 'excellent' nursery for mosquitoes, if thats really your burning desire!

Ordered quantity of plants and plugs in April. Started receiving first plant in May which was diseased, 2nd plant arrived 3 weeks later also diseased. 3rd plant was no more than a twig at £9.99 this also died. Always sent photographic evidence Every collection of plug plants arrived were dead except for the petunia plants of which only 7 out of the 27 plant survived and when 3 of them eventually blossomed they were not the double petunias that I originally ordered. On each occasion I contacted T&M via email, I received email back saying they were very busy but would get in touch. when and if they contacted me via email they promised a refund but this was false as it took nearly 5 months to get only 60% of the money I paid. Disgusting service and broken promises. So disappointed !

After I had placed my order for 72 pansies, I had not received confirmation from them that they had received it. After an expensive phone call to them, they finally found it. Order has just turned up and I have never seen anything like it 72 of the tiniest plug plants I have ever seen squeezed into packaging that resembled a large envelope. On removing the plants found they were all joined together in tiny containers of six each. Impossible to get them out without damaging them. No proper instructions either. I will not be buying from them ever again

Ordered plants online.. They came a little worse for wear.. Contacted the company and they were having issues with Royal Mail leaving in sorting office. They refunded and resent the order. Excellent Customer Service in these unprecidented times.. Unlike Gardening Express who received 61,000 tickets and 940+ 1* review.

Ordered £200 in plants. Brassica selection arrived with half the plants dead. The fuschias ordered all but 4 died for no obvious reason as T and Ms instruction followed to the letter. Acer supplied, dreadful plant, struggling to survive. Can't log in to website as won't accept my password despite several attempts to change etc.

Well, I've belatedly found I didn't really need to bother with this one as I hadn't realised there were so many scathing reviews already out there. Approx. forty quid for 6 geraniums that arrived looking like a pitiful helping of wilted spinach, nearly four weeks after ordering. When I called them to check on proceedings after the first fortnight, the phone was answered by a fearsome, belligerent harridan with all the charm and grace of Pat Butcher on a bad day. My partner (whose somewhat embarrassing birthday gift the aforementioned flora represented) in her own sanguine, determined fashion decided nonetheless to attempt resuscitation and plant them out. Should they come through, I'll let you know.... maybe they're worth another star, let's wait and see?

I will never use Thompson and Morgan again. I have been growing plants from seed for over 40 years. This year I have spent over £150 with T&M. Very few of the plants have arrived in good condition. Most of them had very poor root systems and would not establish - indoors in perfect growing conditions. T&M also cancelled one of my orders, they did not tell me and I had to telephone them to get a refund. Over the same period I also bought from Dobies - the plants arrived in good condition and without exception established well.

I came to Thompson & Morgan through the moneysavingexpert website whose recommendations are usually trustworthy - but I've never had such a poor experience with a company. Over the last few months I have tried to be extremely patient with T&M because I know it has not been easy for any company during the coronavirus lockdown. However, T&M have been truly appalling. Instead of being up-front and admitting they either could not honour my order or that there would be a significant delay, they greedily took my money anyway and then brought the shutters down. More than four months after placing my order I am still waiting for the company to contact me and still waiting for my refund. Here's my journey: 28th March - Tomato plants ordered. T&M tell me to expect them by the end of April. 22nd May - Tracking link isn't working so I email to enquire where they are. 26th May - MD Chris Wright emails all customers to expect "up to a two week delay" 29th May - I get an email to say my delivery has been delayed UNTIL MARCH 1ST NEXT YEAR! 31st May - I email to cancel my order. 20th June - With no response, I email again to cancel and get an automated email saying someone will be in touch within 14 days. 21st June - Despite me cancelling THREE WEEKS earlier, six dead tomato plants are dispatched to me. 24th June - I email for a third time requesting my refund. 7th August - Still no contact from the company and still no refund. I cannot advise you strongly enough to avoid Thompson & Morgan. I can forgive them for being overwhelmed by an unprecedented situation but I can not forgive them for their deceit and absolute refusal to apologise and return my money.
