Thanks to a great tour leader (Bec Nicholls) we got to see all sorts of sights we'd never have seen as independent travellers in the time we had available. The itinerary was relaxed enough to allow free time, but structured enough that there was always something fun on offer. Loved that we used public transport most of the time & local restaurants rather than chains. Bec also went way above the call of duty by sorting out everyone's onward travel plans, which must have taken her hours. It was a great trip & I'd do it again in a flash.

We had an awesome trip with Tucantravel and our guide Bishal - he made us see the most beautiful things even when there was nothing beautiful at all ... India is very different and special! Thanks - we would always book again with Tucan!

I have travelled with Tucan several times now in both Central and South America and their trips have been excellent. There has been a varied cross section of ages on the tours and the guides have been very knowledgeable.

Essentially provides accomodation and transportation but no excursions.

My experience in South America was not good. The tour leader was not interested in us at all and didn't "lead". I got very ill at one point (no due to too much partying, but a really nasty virus) and she didn't do anything for me. Not even check up on me after a really bad night in which I told her I was really scared that I was so ill. Furthermore, Tucan charged a lot more money for excursions than the original price, basically made a lot of money in just being a middle man. Also, the truck got lost several times which made for 20 hour driving days. Food was always the same and I have the feeling she didn't spend all the money for food by far and kept the rest herself. And these are just my experiences. I met up with other tours in Rio and they all had bad stories, even much worse than mine. I will NEVER travel with Tucan again.

if you want to be treated as cargo on your overland trip, sleep in hotel rooms not fit for a dog and as a single traveller be told to respect the couples, then feel free to use Tucan Travel. If you value your hard earned cash, try using GAdventures or Intrepid - you actually get value for money and guides that have been to the places you are travelling too.

The Mayan circle trip offered a great range of experiences, from the majestic ruins at Tikal, the architectural unity of Antigua, the lakeside pleasures of Atitlan to zip lining with monkeys and swimming with sharks off the Caribbean island of Caye Caulker. Jess was an inspirational and professional tour leader, which was the cherry on the cake!

Tucan Travel was a total dissappointment from start to finish. The "booking" agents were very poor quality. I had to ask them to send my travel documents. The tour guide was just ok. He did the best that he could with what Tucan had booked. The tour itself was very poor. I spent half of the tour without a guide. I've been on many tours and this was by far the worst.

Both Bec (Mexico city to Costa Rica) and Jess (Costa Rica) were knowledgeable tour leaders with excellent people skills. Organization of public transport including taxis went off without a hitch and suggested restaurants/cafes always had good quality food at a reasonable price. This was the first time I have tried a budget adventure tour and I was very pleasantly surprised by the accomodation quality and professionalism throughout.

The trip I took with Tucan Travel was great. It was at the right pace, allowed us to cover a lot of interesting geographical ground and was well organized. The one thing that prevents it from being great, in my opinion, is that some important activities and sites were offered as optional whereas they should really have been part of the trip. I don't believe this was clear from the website. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this company for any one interested in small group tours.

Enjoyed every minute of our 5 week trip ftom Nairobi to Cape Town. It was great not to have to worry about border crossings, finding place to overnight or arranging meals. It was all expertly organised for us. The transport was very comfortable. Great value for money.

The truck/bus schould have been whith a toilet. Some of the driving days was too loong, over 12 hours, and some driving was on the same ruote that we already had done. I guess there can be time to win going by air than bus.

Bad timing for review writing. Just received 28 days notice my sumac south America trip leaving 15 June 2013 may be cancelled. I say may as the two emails I received from. Louisa gentles are utterly confusing. Hope that when I next here there will be clarity... Ideally there will be a trip too.

This is not the first time I've traveled with Tucan and I LOVE the company. I am looking at possibly booking another long trip early next year. The Morocco Imperial City trip wasn't my most favorite, however. The guide was fabulous and the sites were great, but there was too much time in the van and almost no free time. I would prefer trips with more physical activity (sometimes walking around a site was the most time we spent out of the van in a day), and more time to explore a place on my own or with others on the trip. For that itinerary I would suggest even cutting out on or two of the lesser sites and spending more time in some of the major places like Fez and the Sahara. Overall I think it was a great trip and I really enjoyed myself, but I got a little stir crazy sitting down all the time. :)

Overall the Tour was very good and I can't fault the local guides who were excellent and very helpful, also the local transport was very good. The mainly 3 star and homestay accomodation was good, with the exception of the Kamana Hotel in Lima which was substandard. There are numerous negative reports about this hotel on Trip Advisor. Why do Tucan continue on using it ?? This was the main negative of our experience with Tucan.
