“While I really enjoy studying at my own pace, I do find some of the assessment hard to read as they aren't laid out/explaied very well.
Also the role plays with 3 people involved makes it difficult if you don't have a friend willing to help. You state to use other people studying however it's hard to find someone at the same moduel as I at.
Overall though i'm very happy and looking forward to completeing my course”
“My learning with Swinburne has been great. Educators and Advisor staff are very prompt to answer questions. Would study with them again. Only downfall I have is the time it takes to have assessments graded 3-4weeks”
“Swinburne Open Education doesn't care if your struggling financially. I put in forms of being on centrelink benefits only. They don't take it into consideration. So now I have to pay for remaining of the course. How?”
“I’m almost at the end of my course and have enjoyed learning online. The assessors from the beginning- Anuradha Badri, Jessica Bray and Kerrie Street have been a great resource and support during my Certificate 3 course!!”

“some assessments are slow to be marked.
too much time is spent on excel spreadsheets, we are supposed to be learning about bookkeeping, not mastering excel.
a couple of the assessments have the same questions in them.
too much time is spent on writing emails for the assesments, once we have completed one, that should be enough to show our ability.
training sessions should be run at different times of the day and different days to allow those that work to join in.”
“Online learning is great. Easy to use.
Unfortunately teachers are very hard to get hold of, and can take numerous days to get back to you. This massively slows down progress.
Online classes are during the day which is counter productive when you work (whole reason for studying online).
The recorded q&a sessions have been the biggest help.
While not perfect, l am finding online is working for me. And l do eventually get help on what l need.”
“i like the way the moodle files give information and it is easy to find any information for learning and making assessment. The other Universities have 170 hours of unpaid placement while swinburne expect 200 hours of placement and the procedure for placement is complicated also the assessments are too lenghthy. student services sometimes do not reply email at all. Unlocking the modules takes forever.”
“From the moment I was interested in the certificate, to half way through the course, all the swinburne staff have been very helpful, friendly and engaging, making my experience fantastic! I have no complaints :) Hence the 5 stars! Noting that I communicated with the company via telephone and email and I never had a problem with their communication.”
“From the first interaction when I enquired about studying with Swinburne online, the support and advice I received was very informative, thorough and things were explained to me in great detail. My course guide was sent to me and they made the enrolment process nice and simple.
I have completed one unit and I’m onto my second, the course information and resources are very informative and the learning materials are nice and interactive.
My trainer is very helpful and responds promptly within the timeframes outlined in the introduction.
So far my experience with Swinburne has been excellent and I’m looking forward to continuing my studies until completion.”
“My experience has been great so far.
The application process was easy over the phone and the person I dealt with was very friendly.
The learning platform is easy to navigate. The 'mark as read' function makes it easy to pick up where you left off last study session.
My course has been going well so far. Being able to work at your own pace makes it easy to study around work and family commitments. The additional videos and lives have been a great help.”
“I have been extremely pleased with the guidance and support provided by my assessors, Vicki Roberts and Irshad Cadar, as well as the assistance from the student support team. In particular, I have worked closely with Allen and Raz, who have been very helpful. The only issue I’ve encountered is related to the policy that requires completing and submitting assessments before moving on to the next module.
This policy has posed a challenge for me because I have limited options for who I can ask to assist with the role-plays, and coordinating schedules with these individuals, who are both very busy, is difficult. As a result, I have completed all of my assessments except for the role-plays. If not for this, I believe I would have finished the course by now.
That said, when I have requested the opening of the next module, Allen and Raz have been very accommodating in allowing me to continue my studies by opening the module. This is the only issue I have experienced. Otherwise, I have been delighted with the service provided by Swinburne. Kath Clark”
“Overall it's great for self-paced learning. Great that's there's no fixed time structure and students can complete their modules as quickly or slowly as they desire/are able to with their schedules.
Negatives are that you cannot progress to the next module without submitting all the previous assessments first. That would normally be okay however majority of the assessments involve other people's input (e.g. roleplay with other people, roleplay with assessor, assessor's review). This significantly slows down the pace of completing the modules due to needing to wait on other people. It does provide a break for students but for those who want to continue through as quickly as possible, it holds us back.”
“I've been enrolled in the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) through Swinburne Open Education, and my experience so far has been quite positive. The online learning platform is user-friendly and intuitive, making it easy to navigate through the modules and access resources. The course content is well-structured, with a good balance of theory and practical examples that are directly applicable to real-world scenarios.”
“I've been studying with Swinburne Open Education for two months now, and I'm very pleased with my experience so far. The course is well-structured, making it easy to follow along and stay on track with my studies. The staff are incredibly kind and supportive, always ready to help whenever I have questions. I truly feel that I'm gaining valuable knowledge and skills through this program. I highly recommend Swinburne Open Education to anyone considering furthering their education.”
