About Virgin Experience Days:

Virgin Experience Days was launched in March 2001 under the name of Virgin Experience. Originally offering experiences to corporate clients as a way of incentivising staff and customers, the company rapidly expanded to bring the Virgin values of quality, innovation, value for money and fun to the consumer experience gift market.
The summer of 2003 was a real milestone for Virgin Experience. In our continual quest to bring the best experiences and unrivalled service, we joined forces with Acorne Sports. Founded in 1988, Acorne Sports is the original experience company and it’s their stamp of approval that confirms our pedigree and ability to deliver unforgettable experiences. Acorne ’s unrivalled reputation, knowledge and relationship with all of the featured centres made them the perfect partners for Virgin Experience, a company dedicated to making sure customers have the very best time. By teaming up, we are able to challenge the way every experience is provided and offer once-in-a-lifetime gifts backed up by friendly service staff with first-hand knowledge.

This star rating is for the customer service that I received after my son had a serious knee injury preventing him from using his driving experience voucher before the expiry date. I nearly didn't bother asking because of the negative reviews I'd read about voucher expiry (after all - the voucher did clearly state the expiry date), but I'm glad I did! A lady by the name of Lauren could not have been more helpful and the voucher was extended free of charge. I don't know why (or if) the service I received was any better than other people, but I can only report on my own experience. I have to admit that my son is yet to use the voucher, so I hope that he doesn't encounter any problems at that point. Either way, I will be back with a further review.

Possibly the worst company I've ever dealt with from beginning to end (though I wish it was actually the end). I was given 160.00 voucher for a special birthday from my family. I bought 3 experiences. 1 towards a hotel, 1 full days sea fishing and 1 haircut, blow dry & head massage. Hotel went fine. I had booked sea fishing but then had to have an urgent operation and 2 weeks before the fishing realised I wouldn't be fit enough so cancelled and was told by the fisherman that he'd contact Virgin to let them know so they could reissue my voucher for another experience. After 3 weeks I heard nothing so I contact them to find out the fisherman has claimed I was there. So, I now have to pay for a doctor to fill in an insurance form to 'maybe' claim my money back if they agree to it. The hair voucher has been a complete joke! The process of booking anything is really hard work! After choosing my hair experience I was told there were no salons anywhere near me and they would contact me if any new salons joined. In April I was told they had a new salon 30 miles away but they couldn't tell me the name as it was company policy? I would hear from the salon. After 4 months I'd heard nothing. I called back and was given the number for the salon but they still couldn't tell me the name and that they forwarded my details to the salon 4 months ago. I called the salon who had never heard of Virgin Experience Day??? I gave my details and was told I'd be contacted within a week with more info. 3 weeks later still nothing. I called Virgin who now tell me they never spoke to me in May, 4 months ago and there might be 1 lady who I spoke to in May who has more details but she's in 'bookings' and she's the only person who works in that department. What a JOKE!!! I'm at my wits end! and considering contacting Watchdog or similar. I'll give it one more shot, try and speak to a manager, on their premium number then if no luck I'll take it further. In all my years I never thought Virgin would own a sideline that is so diabolical.

My husband received a 15 mile helicopter flight as a Christmas gift. He registered the voucher on Boxing day. Shortly after registering it he had to undergo major surgery and was not able to take the flight for several months. In September he tried to book the flight, but could not remember his password, and the website did not recognise his email address to change the password. He has emailed the company 3 times and to date has not received a reply. When he telephoned them, they said 'We are Acorn, this is nothing to do with us, you have to do this through Virgin.' What a terrible waste of money.

Without doubt The most complicated and lengthy booking process of anything I've ever booked. So many pitfalls and Ts and Cs! It's almost as it they don't want you to actually bother booking the experience at all. I suppose then Virgin/Acorne keep 100% of the money you've paid and don't have to compensate the experience provider - that's probably why it's so ridiculously complicated and prone to fail. I certainly wouldn't recommend it and am astonished the company gets any business at all.

We bought a voucher for an Afternoon Tea for two at The Shard and were offer 10:30AM on one of two dates. Avoid this company, they will take your money and then say that there is no availability.

We swapped a glamping weekend for 1 night in a hotel so we thought it would have been the same price as voucher. The room was nothing special we were one of 3 couples no one else so to the restraint very little choice so we ordered 2 burgers with chips that was £28 then 2 glasses of red wine and 2 halves of bud came in a total of just under £52 breakfast your cerals toast we had 2 English breakfast and that was in with price of the room at £63 what I want to know is where is the other £37 of my 1 night in a Mercure Park Newton it seems they mainly catered for weddings never again I feel thoroughly Ripped off and it ruined our break

I called Virgin this afternoon as I had a voucher that I had unfortunately let expire. The lady I spoke to was extremely helpful and processed a new voucher for me straight away! Paid £20 but my voucher is worth £220 so well worth it. Would definitely use again.

Absolute scam. Avoid. The whole process is littered with pitfalls. We purchased a river cruise for £36 for our son for Christmas. Unfortunately he didn't realise the expiry was in March. We telephoned, waited for 20 mins on a premium rate and was told that to extend would be a further £10 and that we needed to send the voucher and cheque back. A pain but acceptable. We waited 3 weeks and was told that I didn't need to wait and could extended by card online. I declined because cheque sent previously. On further enquiry (another 25 mins) they said that they still hadn't processed but as the cost had increased they wanted a further £29 on top of the £10 making the whole cost totally unacceptable. Truly awful customer relations.

Avoid !!! Such a complicated, lengthy process with too many steps. When you eventually reach the point of making a booking, you need to dial 01494 956 788 at which point get put on hold for a lengthy time. Their business is all about an expectation that you will give up or lose the will to live along the way. Very clever.

This is as close as it gets to a scam. The availability of time slots to redeem experiences is very poor, you need to book 6-8 weeks in advance, at inconvenient locations. The small print isn't shown in the advert, only after you buy. I tried to book a spa experience with 6 weeks left until the expiry of the voucher, but no London or South East locations had any availability. Getting through to the locations to book your experience is a problem too - very often you get only voicemail and you never get called back.

Having recently been involved in ordering goods via Virgin Exp. I found their ordering systems misleading and completely user un-friendly with their customer services and complaints departments being of no assistance whatsoever re the ongoing problem.I would never ever knowingly deal with this company again.
