“In April this year I tried to contact "Volumio" with regard to their erratic commercial processes and the low performance quality of Volumio 3. I finally received a response on 4 July. My response sent 30 September is below: Monica Many thanks for your delayed response. I must admit that I rarely find organisations as unresponsive as those of Volumio, its partners and owners. I did not receive any response whatsoever. I eventually renewed my subscription for another year at the lowest price I could find on the web, emails etc. At that time, I could not find a suitable alternative. Today I am using Volumio to stream Spotify and every playlist jumps from track to track for at lease half a dozen times before playing a track...... Here it goes again........ I have no problems streaming directly from Spotify. The loading of Qobuz seems to be a random process, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I see you are launching a new product which has at its heart Volumio 3, are you sure it is ready? I will definitely look very, very hard to find an alternative when I am asked next year, by the most unfriendly organisation in the world, to renew my subscription. If you are considering Volumio I suggest, like me, you try to find an alternative. Oops, my tracks are jumping again,,,,,,,”

“Volumio is great. It's easy to install and use on any device (though it's made to work on small fanless pc's like Intel Nuc or Raspberry Pi). It allowes to manage all your music library flawlessly. The playback quality is better than with Windows. I think it lacks two perks. The first one is real-time kernel. Everybody who compiled debian with it, tells that it's essential for playback quality. The second is using Volumio device as a USB flash drive. I want to connect it to my PC as a smartphone and drag&drop my CD rips inside.”

“I have a custom made dac, controlled by RPI. The RPI's software had crashed. Initially I installed Volumio 3. With this the dac did play again, only at a pitch of about an octave lower. With headphones in the RPI, the good sound was reproduced. Tried to solve that together with Davide from Volumio. Davide told me that Volumio 3 is based on a different operating system than previous versions. I have a latest version of Volumio 2 installed. This solves the problem.”

“Hi, This is just to let you know that your MyVolumio lifetime subscription has been terminated... ...received this email recently.. why? i do not know. lifetime is lifetime, isn't it? is my life ending? who actually sent this to me? volumio primo.. i never in my life spent so much time with my hifi hardware... i never in my life had to call support for my hifi... until volumio... david was nice, fixed the thing in ten minutes or so with my help, teamviewer, ssh and something else i can't remember,...i'm volumio primo HIFI user.. so 650 euro.. might work for some, not for me...”

“Hi, I have had an issue with Tidal Connect and I've sent an e-mail to the Support regarding it. Davide promptly answered, pointing me to the support site, but the solution was easy: I've used a wrong name for my Volumio device, so it was unresponsive because of that. Anyway, I am satisfied with the level of support for Volumi, although I have to say that I am using the version 2.917. I did not upgrade to version 3 since I've read that there's a lot of issues with it and the version I'm using is stable and does what it is supposed to do. Vlada”

“I wish I could give Volumio and Primo a higher rating but in all honesty I cannot. I signed up for a free 60 minute help session with Davide and indeed he was very helpful and got me back working after almost a year of on and off results. Unfortunately, the next day I was back to first base except that now I had the latest software and that was a huge difference. Now, when I say I am back to base one it’s because every evening I have to follow a really annoying process and I have to initiate the Primo each time I am going to use it. Perhaps other people do this and don’t think of it twice but I am used to just picking up my iPad on my main system and immediately accessing Roon through my Innous streamer and on my second system the same through my Bluesound Node2i. So having to unplug the Primo and then reboot my iPad and sign back into either Tidal or Qobuz each night so that I can listen to headphones through my Burson headphone amp and DAC is in my honest opinion a pain in the … I could have just hardwired my iPad to my Burson DAC via usb and had avoided the expense and the outgoing headaches. Finally, I have found that I have to run the Volumio with a wired connection to my network. My other two streamers run via Wi-Fi. Sound is good when it’s working.”

“No native bluetooth support. I need a system that broadcasts to my speaker. When I tried to update I had to remove the plugin that supported it. After the upgrade it was too difficult to get bluetooth support again. It was easier to just go to the Radio stations website with my Pi attached to the bluetooth speaker.”

“I own a Volumio Primo Hifi with a lifetime license for quite a time now. Soundwise it is all you can wish for! At first I used it with an analog preamp and therefor with its build-in DAC: excellent sound quality, nothing missed. I then swapped the pre for an RME ADI-2 pro fs and subjectively I could not notice a difference: the DAC of the Primo is outstanding... After I had update problems, which I could not handle by myself, Davide solved my problem online by means of a TeamViewer-Session. I am really speechless about the customer service: this is A-grade!!! And my apologies to Davide for me being such a looser in Linux things ;o). After the latest updates the implementation of Camilla Dsp works great so far: a must in my eyes to correct room anomalies! All in all there really is nothing to complain: outstanding sound quality and outstanding customer service. Highly recommended!!!!”
