“The 1kg collars are high quality and very please with the result of the product. It works wonderful. The leather straps I order are also very high quality product. It just has to be broken in a little bit”

“The product that i bought was shipped to me in a timely matter. The price of the product is very good even though it was a b side bar. There were no scratches or mark on the bar. I used the bar the first time last week on bench press and felt comfortable.”

“Just opened my 260lb bumper plate set and they seem to be made with really great quality. The only thing is the center rings have some dings on the edges where they meet the rubber and fit and finish where the rubber meets the center rings have some chips.”

Hi. Thanks for the review. Our inserts are molded into the plate versus typical bumper plates where the inserts are pressed in. As a result the insert will not depart from the plate. What you are describing is a natural property of the processed used and has no impact on performance and durability. We use hard rubber compounds and our plates are made for heavy duty commercial and institutional use. Softer rubber compounds used in many other bumper plates have much better aesthetics (they appear very shiny) as they are easier to form, but they lack durability and flop or bounce too high. We make bumper plates to last and to perform.

“Quality of bar was excellent, can't be beat for the price. Knurling is on the less aggressive side which is what I wanted. Wish the bar shipped out more quickly, placed the order Monday but didn't ship out till Thursday. Found a ding on the barbell collar, purely cosmetic, probably due to shipping.”

“The Vulcan Trencher Sled is awesome, way better than a prowler. It works great on my bumpy lawn as a push and pull sled. Exactly what I needed. Also the V-lock plates are great.”

“This review pertains to my second order of Alpha bumper plates. The product is first rate, manufacturing tolerances are tight and the aroma is not off putting or long lasting. I gave 4 stars due to the bungled transaction process which I experienced. I placed my order for a product that was listed as in stock and available but took 8 days and a few phone calls to get shipped. Hopefully this is a aberration and not the norm.”

“Alpha Bumper plates are a nice set. The speckled look is different and stands out, too. The delivery could be improved upon as it's largest competitor ships within a couple days...not 30+. If delivery was faster it would be 5 stars.”

“Overall I'm satisfied with my multiple orders. I first ordered a set of black bumper plates. They were packaged nicely and once I took them out of the boxes, I weighed each plate. Each of them were either spot on displayed weight or within heavier by a few tenths. I then purchased more plates and a power bar. Overall good fit for what I need and everything should outlast me. Customer service from this company is awesome. Their shipping for most items is free, which is a HUGE plus. A few notes: The weights come with some slight oil on them. I'm not to picky, so I just put them on my storage bars and got to work with them, however, I can say some would rather wipe or clean them off prior to use. I haven't had any difficulty picking them up, and using them. The plates fit nicely on the power bar from Vulcan as well as a bar from a different company.”

“Very good setup. 305 lb with econo bar, very pleased with the low bounce when dropped from overhead. The bar is a little stiff and not much spin but it is a very good bar for the price for your garage gym. Only drawback are the stickers inside the plates where it slides on the bar. It would've been better if they were on the plate and not inside the metal collar, for lack of a better word. Definitely recommend to someone else.”

Hi Mindy, Thanks for your review. A new bar should be tight and bushing bars do not spin as much as bearing bars. After the bar is used some it will spin better. If a bushing bar spins really well out of the box it is a result of loose tolerances. That can have a negative impact over time. The inspection stickers do not adhere to rubber that well. You should be able to peel the small stickers off by hand. Please let us know how the bar spins after it has been used a bit.

“I like the Swiss specialty bar I got, but I do have a couple complaints. After just a couple times of use the area where you slide the weights on is already showing signs of wear and I'm not some guy that lifts TONS of weight. This isn't a big deal as I didn't buy it to be pretty, but it is a little disheartening. Also, one of the plastic pieces on the end of the bar was destroyed apparently during shipping. Again, it isn't a big deal as the bar doesn't need the plastic piece, but maybe the bar should be packed a little better. These are the reasons I am giving 4 stars and not 5. The bar is rack-able and I am enjoying benching with it as I am able to use a neutral grip and the price was decent. So overall I am pleased and would recommend buying it. The rack-able component was the reason I bought the Swiss bar from you guys, so thank you for making it rack-able.”

Hi, Thanks for your review. Powder coat is plastic based coating that is baked onto the steel. It will come off with metal to metal contact. This is normal for this product.

“Purchase was very easy and because I lived near the store I was able to take advantage of getting a little extra discount. Recieving: I did not receive the entire rack. I was not aware of this until I returned back to my house. I would say a quick layout prior to giving the product out would work. It was simple to get the missing pieces. I called and spoke with vulcan and was provided a email with shipping details of the missing pieces the same day. Assembly was straight forward. No directions were provided but none are needed. I put it together myself so it took a little longer getting my 2x8 lined out correctly. So far it has done good. The rig is very solid I lag screwed it into 3 3/4 pieces of plywood. I believe the 3x3 is a little over kill seeing it isn't very thick. A 2x3 would have done the job with a smaller insert hole thus providing more strength. For looks the 3x3 does look good though.”

Thanks for your review Bryan! Your pick up was a bit outside of our local pickup procedure to accommodate your schedule as an active duty service member . Our local pick up procedure is to place the order and then we notify the customer once the order is ready and a pick up time is scheduled. That allows us the time to double check everything which we did not have in your case. The missing piece was sent fed ex overnight as soon as we were informed by you that it was missing. The steel thickness is 11 gauge which is the industry standard. We would have to disagree that 2x3 steel with smaller holes is sturdier. We manufactured 2x3 rigs from 2011 - 2015 and we switched to 3x3 because it is that much sturdier and substantially more heavy.

“Extremely happy so far in the product. The alpha bumpers are definitely quieter and less bouncy than plates I've used in the past. My only complaint was on the logistical/customer service side of things. When I placed my order, I was not aware of any delay in shipping. I only became aware after going on the website to check on my order, no email notification from Vulcan. All said and done it was a 6.5 week process where some proactive communication and updates during the process would have been nice considering my credit card was charged immediately.”

Hi Ryan. Thanks for your review. The Alpha bumper plates were listed as available for pre -order only. All pre-orders are charged at the time of purchase as stated in the terms and policy on our website. The ETA (estimated time of arrival) is not a guaranteed date of course. There were email notifications sent out detailing that once bumper plates arrived it would take anywhere from 7-10 business days to ship out all pre -orders. “it may be because of the are are i live in (houston, TX) but my bar within the first week my bar started to rust. Not sure if this is a normal thing but its definitely something to consider. Aside from the rust, i love this bar. one of my favorite features is the 28mm diameter of this bar. the knurling is more aggresive than ive been used to and i really like that. i havent tested the whip on this thing because i havent really loaded it with maximal weights. overall i think i made the right choice. maybe vulcan can address my rust issues and why on the first week it was already rusting. i use this for strictly oly lifts and there is little to no sweat involved.”

Hi Jose, Thank you for your review. No coating is 100% rust proof unfortunately. In order for a bar to rust there must be moisture or humidity to facilitate the rust. Coatings are sacrificial in nature, meaning they rust to protect the steel underneath from rust. If there is rust, the environment is supporting it. If you are training in a garage which is not climate controlled there may be a great deal of moisture present. In the Houston area most recently there has been severe flooding, which definitely could increase the overall level of humidity. “I have slowly been buying equipment for a lifting platform in my garage. I was finally at the stage where I was ready to buy a bar. In the last 5 years or so I have lifted regularly on DHS, Elieko, and Rogue Burgener bars. I was looking to buy a bearing bar that performed well, but was a manageable cost. I took a gamble on this Vulcan bar after never using one, but I had heard good things. I have been pleasantly surprised with this bar. I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing a review so I could really get a feel for this bar. The bar spins great, no issues, no sticking, nothing. It has very nice whip to it as well. I really like the knurling. It isn't crazy aggressive like an American Barbell, but it isn't made for people with dish washer's hands like the Rogue Bars. Just the right amount. I would say this is one of the best "bang for your buck" bars out there. Well done.”
