Booked 3 nt break 2022. In hospital cancelled. Money put in holding acc for 12 months. During that time diagnosed with incurable lung disease. Not advised to mix for fear of infection which could prove deadly for me. In fact our lives are now the same as shielding permanently. Have to wear masks when with people indoors etc. and cough a lot. Unpleasant for other people. Supplied Drs letter as they requested which gave name of disease and reasons I shouldn’t go. Dr wrote she supported my request for refund. Still refused. Write to MD at head office with full info - still refused. Didn’t even send written reply and explanation. Got his sidekick to ring. Read T and Cs in detail - nowhere does it state about refunds for incurable diseases or a terminal diagnosis. In fact they never give a refund. It’s all rebook or gift your holiday to a friend. If you are able to rebook they then charge rebooking/ cancellation fee plus the updated price of the break you booked initially so you end up losing most of the money they put in a holding account anyway and it costs you a lot more. What they put about their protection plan on the back of the confirmation of booking is just a few lines but it’s written in a way that leads you to think you are fully covered. You have to really dig into it online to find the exact facts which are ‘you’ve been a sucker mate!’ So here I am with an incurable disease I didn’t ask for losing out on the test of my life and some so and so is keeping my money! £472.01! What a way to treat people! Disgraceful!

Nice hotel great room very poor dining choices for someone on a gluten free diet. Why are you vegetarian and vegan diet catered for which is a choice gluten free is a medical condition. I don't think I will return to a Warners hotel unless they up their dietary requirements. Not impressed.

We have been many times to Warner hotels but this was our first visit to Alveston Hall. 8 in our group all disgusted by the dirty stains on the chairs in the dining room. FILTHY. 2 of our group had upset stomachs and we heard of other people taken Ill. The sound system was awful from our table position, just heavy bass. Nobody was able to do anything about it not did they seem particularly sympathetic. The man in the room beneath ours was smoking on his patio which meant we had to close our window and with no air conditioning it was stifling. Come on Warner, your standards are slipping.

Everthing except the Dining room set up. What has happened..? No menus, few staff, mucky servery, waiting times for water etc, the list is endless. The lovely people serving us did their best but meal times should be a good experience but at Gunton Hall it certainly was not. Before guests start to vote with their feet, can we please get back to how it was as my husband won't go back? and after listening to other comments neither will a lot of others. Along with that, the general maintainance of the pathways around the site neet attention, cracks and pot holes and unlit areas are becoming dangerous. On a positive note, the entertainment was good and we especially loved George.

We stayed at Cricket St Thomas. The room was beautiful and we loved our location. We would like to comment on one particular member of staff who was outstanding in her performance and customer care and that was Jay the singer. Unfortunately there was a couple of other things that quite spoilt our holiday. One was the dance theatre was far too cold in the evening. We complained a couple of times to the bar staff but they said they need it cold because they are busy. I must point out that they were not busy at all. Most people did not stay long because of the temperature. Most were elderly and did not drink much. It would have been helpful to have a toilet on that level. We had to climb two flights of stairs. We were disappointed with the service in the restaurant. There did not seem to be enough waiters. We had to wait a long time for our food and drink. The buffet plates had pools of water in them and had to be emptied out and wiped before use. My husband and myself had to help several people with their food. We had to reach food for them carry it back to their table and get additional condiments for them. This should be the waiters job. I am meant to be on holiday. We also had a lot of dirty crockery left on our table. We had to move it to other tables in-between courses. We usually have such a nice time and feel quite spoilt. We have got another break booked in December. We are hoping with all your cutbacks we will enjoy it and book more in the future. One last thing is we were not sent a feedback form as you normally do. I had to search the Internet to find this form. I am sure many people will not be able to do that.

Stayed for a 4 night break at Corton this August bank holiday. Lovely setting overlooking the sea. Chalet ok, a bit basic, but no fridge, which is unusual at Warner hotels. Plus could hear next door. The food was not as good as previous Warner hotels, some items missing from the Asain night menu which was disappointing, as normally love this menu. Chef said they have been without the dish for weeks. Not good when pre-printed menus. Entertainment was superb, especially the resident band. Best in all Warner hotels we have been to. Breakfast was good until the last morning, changed the bacon from back to very under cooked streaky. Horrible. Staff very friendly in all departments. Have done many Warner breaks at different locations and always found to be great. Just hope the food standard is just a blip on this occasion, as love the entertainment and the fact it's adult only. Will try one more break as had more good than bad.

I haven’t been yet but booking for a group was a nightmare. I called the help line a couple of times and got different answers. Also only the lead guest can make amendments and then it isn’t straightforward. Warners need to streamline their online booking and train their customer are advisers better. I had paid an extra £10 to have a room allocated but when I tried to change I was told that the cost is £15. I’ve been to Warners before but this will probably be the last time if they don’t get their act together. I think they are slipping in customer care and I would only give a two star, my friend also was very frustrated and such a waste of our time!!!! Kate Neale

Just returned from 4 nights at Gunton Hall. The grounds are very nice, staff very friendly and entertainment good. However, the standard of the restaurant has taken a low since last visit. It is now a complete buffet service. Very little choice of starters and desserts, only two hot staters offered each evening and these are repeated during the week. Only one hot dessert each day, poor cold desserts same every day, raspberry trifle did not contain any raspberries. There used to be at least four choices of high quality staters and desserts, not any more. Personally do not mine buffet service for mains but found again a restricted menu, for example only one fish option now instead of three. You need to be early in for meals before too many people have served themselves and spoil the food because many elderly people have difficulty with the large serving spoons. One elderly gentleman used his hand to pick cut strawberries from a bowl. The powers that be need to take a further look at this as it is not working for the type of clientele Warners caters for , but doubt anything will change. Have given four star review as over all we enjoyed our stay but the lowering of standards really deserves lower rating in future.

You used to have well presented deserts with tiny jug of cream or custard made the meal special the experience was just like school dinners

Took my mum for her holiday to Thorsbey Hall hotel in Ollerton, 31/7 /23 for4 nights, stunning building, beautiful garden. Good size rooms and comfortable beds. Unfortunately the service in the bars and restaurants were sub standard, the staff were under trained, served coffee before dessert , we finished our meal and the drinks were brought to the table, the tables were not cleared of plates. We ordered afternoon drinks on the terrace to have whilst watching the entertainment , the order was taken but we did not get the drinks. You were asked to leave a credit card number at the start of your stay however out of courtesy the guest should be asked if they wanted to settle with the card given, however they just took the money and put the itemised bill receipt under your door. I made a complaint and the receptionist took notes and made the right noises but I am yet to receive a reply. This is a prime example of a hotel advertising and not being able to deliver.will not be recommending this hotel or revisiting.

Just back from Alvaston Hall. Entertainment staff all brilliant especially Dan Smith, Damian & Becky (sorry don't know surnames). All other staff - housekeeping, reception etc extremely helpful especially our serving person Jo. Couldn't fault it at all & would recommend Alvaston to our friends.

We have recently come back from Alvaston Hall for the weekend, the Fleetwood Mac band was brilliant. The staff the same, But the food for us has gone down, why have the hotel decided not to fry eggs for breakfast but put them in the oven, seriously they look like joke eggs. Many people complained about them. The food especially at breakfast was warm at best. Why when asked for a pot of tea also was refused, l could have one if it was decaff or earl grey, the reason being because they were short of teapots. We have been coming to your hotels for many years and have seen lots of cutbacks although your prices paid by guests has gone higher. We know your turnover for staff may effect the service but if you want returning customers then think again your main management.

We stayed at Alvaston Hall, and I can’t praise it enough. The staff were very attentive, and helped whenever they could. The rooms are lovely, and contain all you could want for a short holiday. The food outstanding with so much choice, the gardens beautiful. Now for the stars of the show.the entertainment staff,we have had great shows every night,to a very high standard. Plus loads to do if you want during the day. This is not our first trip here, and we will definitely be back. It is also good value for money

Rubbish booking service. I booked in January and paid a supplement to choose a specific lodge/chalet. Two weeks before departure I am told I can’t have my chosen accommodation and I will be moved - no choice, take it or leave it. I have taken a full refund and will never use Warner again

Just returned from Cricket St Thomas early as totally fed up with the service, having to queue for both breakfast and dinner, item missing of both menus. We asked about the problem and were informed the restaurant has not got the capacity to with all the guests although dining times were booked. We felt we paid four star prices and received two star treatment

We arrived and were shocked at the conditions. Much like a 1950’s Butlins. We refused to stay and we’re offered a refund. It is now 6 weeks on and I am still waiting for my refund. You cannot speak with anyone and no one answers emails. Then they have the audacity to send me a questionnaire on how they have done. Stay well away from Lakeside and Warners if you want anything other than a hut to stay in, school dinners and terrible service.

The advert is very misleading - yes no children but….. average age group is 70+ - food, entertainment geared up for OAP’s. Half the activities were not available, the so called disco never moved out of 1950’s era
