I was in your Colchester store today and the place has gone down hill since my last visit last year . The shelves are empty in many places and the shop is so dirty and dusty . Pens were empty , there was only one member of staff on the shop floor . Someone from higher up in the company should take a look at this store unannounced and see what the customers see . I will be very reluctant to return to this store any time soon . The store must be losing money and trying to sell empty space , over the years I have shopped in Colchester WH Smith and it was of a good standard , last eighteen months it is a disgusting place to visit and WHSmith should be ashamed of the state of this high street store regards Doreen Green

Absolutely ridiculous the prices! I got my 4 year old son a small bottle of water and myself a small bottle of Rubican orange juice from Braehead in Glasgow. It came to over £5? I questioned this to the cashier, who agreed with me it's far too expensive! Needless to say ill never be back to any branch. Cost of living is bad enough without retailers clearly taking advantage of consumers. I mean how much did WH Smiths pay for a bottle of water? 10/15 pence as they buy it in the tons! No wonder every time I walk passed it in my local town it's empty with the poor staff bored out their brains with nothing to do! A matter of time before that chain goes under trust me!

What a shambolic business this is. The sheer lack of response from this company over a serious issue with one of their Store Managers at the M&S Franchise Store at the Bristol Royal Infirmary is staggering and to be frank, worrying. They have no interest in responding to issues even one’s of a concerning nature. I now have to contact the Trading Standards and the Retail Ombudsman to make an official complaint. M&S, how can you give Franchises to such an incompetent mob like WH Smith. I would recommend that you never spend money in this M&S store at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and certainly don’t work for this Manager who should not be allowed anywhere near the management of young people. WH Smith, you are a disgrace!

They overcharge the recommended price…They are the biggest rip off….They charge £20.00 for a pkt of 20 JP cigarettes when the retail price anywhere else is £12.50. They should not beallowed to do this as it is exploiting people who smoke..thats nt all…they overcharge on anything they can possibly get away with. I would never enter their premises again…they are tge bggest on….targeting people who are struggling to line their own pockets.

Disappointing book recycling scheme The website indicates an acceptance of the majority of books providing they have a bar code and meet the quality criteria. The existence of this scheme has prompted me to buy more books from WH Smith knowing I could responsibly recycle them. However of 18 paperbacks in excellent condition only 2 were considered for return. By my calculations that is an 11% return rate which would never be considered “the majority”, great idea in principle, a fail in practise. I guess it’s ebooks for me going forward and an alternative means of responsible recycling!

I had a terrible racist experience at the Royal Preston Hospital branch. The lady at customer service counter named Jackie, served all white customers who came after me and when they left, I started putting my things on the counter.she shouted with extreme arrogance and anger loudly these people came here. I am a doctor working in this Hospital

Just purchased 400 quids worth of gift cards by mistake from WH Smith only to find out when I got home that they're egift cards and non returnable. I thought I was buying normal debit card but plastic free version. I'd never heard of egift cards before. If I had known you have to set up an online account then I wouldn't have chosen and purchased these cards. It wouldn't have taken much to tell me I was buying an electronic gift card and need to open an online account. I'm not young and dont fully understand computers and modern tech. How can I give these out to the older folk who dont know how set up accounts to use them ? Maybe the staff think everyone knew about these things and feel there is no need to tell or remind the older people exactly what they're buying. I feel a little ripped off to be honest. E gift cards have ruined Christmas. My fault for not being up-to-date with these things. The staff were polite and happy so no issues there.

I've attempted to set up an " on - line " account and I'm not sure that l succeeded it's very frustrating when you can't verify it ! Unfortunately I'm not into all the advanced technology , a " voice " on the phone is preferable , but that service is not evident

Went into WHSmiths in local hospital, asked to buy some heyfever tablets. The new staff member said we have non in in a rude way. I looked on the shelf behind her and said there on the shelf to the new shop assistant. New shop assistant said owe there in a rude way.. Ran out of the brand I buy. Different brand that I could not use on the shelf. I said to the shop assistant sorry but they are a different brand. She rolled her eyes at me and stared at me in a rude way and she stuck her nose up at me. Was going to buy a drink from the shop. I put the drink down and walked out the shop. Normaly buy my lunch and news paper from there because it is convenient. This experience has put me off going there again or shopping at any WHSmiths store. I have a learning difficulty and sometimes need help off the Shop Assistant if don’t know where an item is. Staff need training in equal opportunities, discrimination and learning difficulties and disabilities.x

Post office counter in Plymouth is appalling. When I got there there was a queue. The one person had vanished 5 minutes before and o wIted for another 5 minutes. By then 20 people queueing. Still no sign. No explanation as to where the person had gone. Just stood there like dummies. Even when there is someone there, you wait for half an hour. So slow. Uselessness and not good enough. I will never use this place again.
