“The shoes seem well-made. The shipping was quick. In order to wear these, however, you must have VERY narrow feet. It is painful to even try to get my feet into them with the laces out. I don't normally wear wide shoes, so these feel extraordinarily narrow to me.”

“Extremely long and wide for a size 13. I've worn size 13 (47) shoes for years but the Enkets were the largest I've ever encountered. I used the sizing sheet kindly provided by Wildling, and it indicated I was a 13 as well. But I had at least an inch of space all around my foot. Kind of like clown shoes. I had to, sadly, return them. But they were good looking and well made and I wish they worked for me. Alas.....”

“I like the look and color of their kids shoes. Unfortunately even using the correct printable Wildling size chart the shoes still ended up being much big on my child. I had contacted customer service several times to go about size exchange as warranted on their website for first time purchase, but no one has responded. Maybe go with a different Barefoot shoe brand with dependable customer service in case the shoe does not work out, at least you will receive help. In the meantime I’ll file a claim with my bank and hopefully get back the money to use towards another Barefoot brand option.”

“Great ethos and shoe materials. Very innovative. Too bad the shoes are very narrow and cramped...they shouldn't be marketed as barefoot shoes. Quite misleading.”

Thank you for your review. It's great that you like the values and purpose of Wildling. Wildlings are made from very soft and flexible materials. This means they adapt to many different, individual foot shapes - but not all of them. Wildlings are minimalist shoes: They have a wider cut, no heel and are made of particularly soft materials. “I love your shoes. But getting the right fit is a cumbersome experience. I bought a pair of nebulas last spring, size 8 and they fit perfectly. I bought a pair of boots in the fall, size 8, and they fit like clown shoes. The 7.5 size of the boots is still a bit too big but I wore them with socks and they were kinda ok (I should've returned them and got a size 7 but it was kinda over it). Knowing that the nebulas fit well as a size 8 i ordered a pair of kune naturals in size 8 but they too fit like clown shoes. I'm going to return them and order both a size 7 and a 7.5. I'll return the pair that doesnt fit. I wish that your shoes ran true to size. Regularly returning them sucks up too much time and increases the carbon footprint of the transaction. Are you ever going to open up a store in NYC? I know you have one in San Fran. I'd buy several pairs at once if i could try them on. Quite honesly, unless the kunes are spectactular, this might be my last shoe order from Wildings. And this makes me sad because I like what you do, how you do it, and i love your products (when they fit).”

Thank you for your feedback, Gina! Sorry to hear not all models fit as well as your Nebula. As shoe sizes are not standardized, you may need a different size in Wildlings than in other shoes. “As a first time buyer, I ordered three shoes from the winter sale. For all 3, this is my general sentiment: Would work best on feet with high volume, medium toe splay, medium to narrow foot width.”

If you find yourself with too much volume in the Wildling modell you've chosen, you can try optimizing the fit by switching the laces for elastic ones. “I like the shoes, unfortunately they don’t fit. Normally wear a 9 1/2 US. The fit guide recommended size 10M, Way too long.”

“These shoes are gorgeous, with ethically sourced and beautiful materials and a laudable mission statement. However, even with the goal of being a "barefoot" shoe, they are still too narrow and low-volume for some feet. I've been wearing exclusively barefoot-syle shoes and sandals for going on 2 years, and my already wide feet have become even wider as they strengthen and recover from a lifetime of restrictive footwear. I really hope Wildling can adapt and begin to offer wider, more high-volume-freindly options in the future, because I will be ordering some as soon as that happens!”

While it's anatomical shape and soft, flexible materials do work for a variety of feet, it's not the right match for everyone. “Many attempts to shop here result in exchanging or returning shoes no matter if you select the right size. One out of 4 pair has legitimately been comfortable and I love them. But the effort to get that result is laboring. Awesome and considerate customer service.”
