“They have a 10 day return “policy.” So after 10 days they will not give you a refund but instead will give you a gift card. I tried to return an item after 14 days and learned that this is their policy, so I received a gift card. It was a relatively small value item, so it’s certainly not about the money, but this is, to me, a ridiculous policy, and I am not aware of any other store that will not provide a refund after 10 days. I mean, if it was a gift that someone was trying to return, it would be basically impossible to meet their policy. In any event, I told them I would simply be giving away the gift card and would never shop there again. The gift card was given away and I will not be back there.”
“Bought some bath towels, 1st wash excessive dye run off, fraying, and lint that covered the whole load taking hours to remove from the rest of the laundry. These towels are so bad I threw them out.”
“Winners/Homesense Beacon Hill - it's becoming like a dog park. It was disgusting shopping for food at winners. It's very unhygienic lots of dogs walking around brushing your clothing while shopping. Dogs do not belong in the store, it belongs in the dog park. You go to winners to shop and have fun and spent lots of money not being bothered by barking dogs, and dogs brushing your clothes while shopping. Some people are allergic to dogs.”
“The Lindsay winners never has enough cashiers. I was here on Wednesday Jan 8 2025 at about 2.30 and there was about 20 people in line with 2 cashiers. I never have this problem at the Peterborough winners.”
“The store located in Richmond Hill 10520 Yonge Street introduced a new policy.
“No washroom for customers”. The staff is giving you the instructions “ Dollarama has the washroom you can go there”.
This policy discriminates against sick people, pregnant women and kids.
Definitely I am avoiding this store from now on.”
“Anonymous
These are very general comments
I will mention stores that have very poor staff. Yonge and HighTech. The staff are scrutinizing looking over items that require a refund. Tags are attached bill available. Still your employees scrutinize and waste customers time this is ignorant especially if you are a frequent shopper at Winners. The only decent and friendly employees are in jewelry and some of the managers are nice. The employees are gossiping about customers. This is a fact. It’s rude and uncalled for esp the older woman. Not all employees as per se ! This excludes the lovely woman In jewelry at that location. Change of staff that enjoy working w the public is strongly advised. This is also at Gerry Fitzgerald location and Centre street you seem to have the same type of staff. Your items are used and still sold. You sometimes don’t find out until you use them esp hair products and some clothing. This is a fact.
Also the new stores appearance; change isn’t always better. Before stores were quaint now they are similar to a value village appearance wise and selection of items. Quality over quantity!! This goes w everything including your staff. Friendly and pleasant. Hiring more males would be nice. At least they don’t talk about customers when they are bringing back an item. It’s ignorant and inappropriate period.”
“I was about to try some lovely sweaters on today. And as I was waiting for the attendee, the rollbar was full of other customers clothes. So I had to hold my 5 items I wanted to try on, wasn't a big deal for me. The older lady working in the fitting rooms, then very rudely said "you're supposed to put them on the bar!" I then told her I would if there were room. She then said "Well I am clearing it now" I told her when I arrived at the dressing room it was still too full to put my items on . She replied very rudely and sharp "Well you could have moved them over!".. I, the customer, told her she was being very rude. Grabbed my stuff and tried them on..I did end up buying one of the sweaters. I am just disappointed with the service and rude behavior of the employee. I have worked in retail. And have never argued with a customer. I really hope she isn't always like that. It really ruined my shopping experience, I a busy mother who doesn't get out much. Disappointed.”
“My sister gifted me an item and it was leaking. I went to exchange it but did not find the same item then picked something else. The customer service at Great Lakes was extremely poor. They refused to take a faulty product back. The manager was too rude. We left all the items that we intended to buy and just bought in exchange of that product. Very disappointed”
“I have shopped at Winners for over 30 years and was once the biggest cheerleader for other people to shop at this chain to find good quality merchandise at fair to excellent prices.
Unfortunately the corporate greed machine and money grab for increased profits has caused Winners stores in general to have steadily gone downhill in the last ten to fifteen years. A lot of their clothing and household goods are really of very poor quality and are not worth the money being asked for them. Similarly, the selection of goods is really limited. Often I find broken or damaged goods that should not even be on the floor "discounted" and put on the shelves to be sold "as is". Examples of these items are chipped or dented crockery items, stained clothing with missing buttons, broken zippers, and even tears or holes in the fabric.
Many stores are understaffed, disorganized, and dirty. Shopping carts at several stores that I have been to in Mississauga, Oakville, and Burlington habitually litter the parking lots and pose parking hazards to potential customers. Bathrooms are frequently dirty.
Jewellery items are increasingly very poorly made and are way over-priced. Items touted as "designer" items are frequently over-priced costume jewellery made of cheap materials.
I love animals, but unless they are truly registered and properly trained "service animals" dogs should NOT be allowed in Winners (or other) stores. Their presence poses potential health and safety hazards to people with small children, along allergies, and sanitation issues.
Until Winners improves the quality, selection, and pricing of its merchandise to offer customers good products at fair prices, I recommend that customers keep their money in their wallets and don't buy crappy merchandise. As long as customers settle for poor merchandise, poor service, and high prices, Winners CEOs will keep the greed machine in full swing and offer increasingly poor quality at increasingly higher profits.
People could very well find better quality and much better prices in consignment shops, thrift stores, and the Salvation Army. Save your money, time, and energy and shop elsewhere at better stores.”
“Cashier older lady at dougall store is rude her tone voice and her look will drive customers away store does not supply bags I had to carry my cloth I bought with my hands”
“winners 50 king st- scary the amount of errors in their tags and receipts - and unprofessional attitude when returning and we spend so much there. When we buy alot it’s ok- when we return an item there is also a mistake in the receipt, wrong tag and says some items return and they did not and they speak loudly and accusingly as if we are not spending money but getting items free”
“Fuckin dirt hole place sick n tired
Spends 50 00 on baby clothes
Your stupid staff can't remove the tag
So now I left with nothing for my son
N no I don't have a receipt I was there on Friday n evey 2nd Friday from there
GO STRAIGHT TO HELL ASS HOLES
HOPE THE STORE GOES UNDER SOON”
“Winners in port coquitlam unfortunately in the past year has really fallen , most of shelves are empty and not much selection plus the fact lots of shop lifters who look high and dangerous in the store filling up their baskets and no one cares and winners doesn't seem to care about their paying customers to create a better safe shopping environment worst store I will never go back”
“Winners in Richmond hill, Red Maple Road. Even though owner close by, dog was off lease on the ground and there were two other dogs on lease while in line up. Didn’t feel comfortable as the crowd may set off dog and he attacks. Customer service did not do anything. Also dog smell lingers in the air. Some people have allergies to dogs. Is the dog buying or the human?”
“When I called to ask if they have a piticular line of carry on luggage that we bought at one location UT too small the store said they were not allowed to look.”
“I had a bad experience with this manager at Winners store. Her and her other staff members are so Racist. Stop the mockery, and don’t be like the wicked devil that was cast out from heaven with his wicked angels. Don’t let the devil over power you. Stop Racism. Winners store on Pembina Hwy. I did not order anything, but i did bought something there that day. Ye without sin cast the first stone. I will never shop there again.”
“I didn't have any recipes, so I wanted to return one thing. Still, it is fresh and comes with a retail ticket. The cashier told me I had to take $7 off the original price if I wanted to return it. Venessa answered the phone when I contacted Winners on Bayfield Street in Barrie, Ontario. I tried to explain the situation to her, but she kept saying, "Rudy, I can't continue the conversation with you. sorry to call them. I was simply curious whether the rules had changed. Please don't be impolite or angry with consumers!”
