“I have been using Asda for many years for a main shop. Includes shops around the UK. Now settled in one place I used to look forward to a weekly one stop shop.
Over the last year I've noticed a decline in the shop. Products routinely out of stock. Prices hard to fathom and staff appear disenchanted.
The result is that I now use the German stores increasingly. Their products which I used to think as inferior are generally of the same standard but cheaper.
The bonuses scheme was good for me but I rarely get credit.
I'm no manager but I suggest that the company goes back to what it was good at. Quality at a good price in a good atmosphere.”
“I normally have a very pleasant shop with staff i meet being very nice, unfortunately today was not the case ,I was in the Huyton store on cooked meats ,there was a member of staff ,female sitting on the floor checking dates i assume, you couldn't get to products,I said excuse me she didn't speak or look at me ,I reached over to get want I wanted, and she physically just her body against me,I just looked down and said ,really,no response, obviously not happy with dealing with the public and I also know the public can be horrible as I have worked in that sector, think more staff training is needed, very unpleasant person.”
“Asda must have the worst website in retail business. Paid for groceries for years then suddenly would not accept. Tried again after much anguish , it took it . Its gone too pot borh technology and groceries prices.”
“Asda Llangefni, items on the shelf marked 2 for £5, when I get to the till not e for £ 5 yet clearly marked assistant tells me they are 2 for £8 yet individually priced at £2.80 ?????
4 th time in this store 3 times things not priced right, I will now be taking photos of prices advertised on shelf and if wrong passing them on yo trading standards, how many people are you catching out each week I wonder, dort it out ASDA”
“Train branch seems to have stopped till service until 0900 in the morning. I am a night shift worker with a large family stopped to do quite a large shop. Trolley full and was expected to do self service on stupidly small belt. Only one person manning the self service. The lady kindly put shopping though it for me . Rather embarrassing as I am perfectly capable of using the dam self service till but what I object to is how long a big shop takes and how piddling the belt even on the larger self service machine is. Took me 3 x longer. I pointed out that I would be shopping elsewhere. When she kindly pointed out Tesco was doing. The same
I pointed out that I drove past Morrisons but in future would be stopping there as the service people tell you to just ask and someone will open a till for you. Sorry ASDA as someone who can spend more than 200 pounds a week you have probably just lost my custom.”
“I have asked many times for a welcome rewards they promise after your second purchase.
Even if I have ordered some food from the online website tree times in tree weeks and send them my order confirmation details, all times they have declined my requests.
In addition to this I also would say that the last driver, who delivered last Thursday on 22th of February, was really unkind, no help has been given, just rude manners.
Hope to receive a better treatment
next time.
If don't, I will change my grocery.

“Ever since it was purchased by a petrol retail company Asda has been sliding steadily downhill.
It is no longer leading the way with lower fuel prices. This trend has continued to food prices. The prices of fresh produce has risen faster than even Waitrose whilst the quality has steadily worsened to the point where they are charging a higher price for cauliflower than Waitrose but with a far inferior product.
The in store experience is grim with customer service non existent, no small bags to put loose fresh produce in prior to weighing, small trollers now have to be paid for. All meat and fish is stuck in cooled cupboards making it hard to inspect before selection whilst it is hard to get around the store without being barged aside by an army of pickers.
That’s my last visit to Asda. Aldi, Lidl and Waitrose here I come. My advise to the new owners is to stick to petrol stations.”
“It’s disappointing when you are gluten intolerant to find that the shopping you make online does not have the suggested items in stock at time of delivery. ( in stock at ordering time ) It hardly makes it worth ordering in this way possible if this is going to happen on future occasions as these are key to my needs.”
“1. Cauliflower bought on Friday 22nd December 2023 for use on 25th, kept in cool place when ready to prepare had gone mouldy and was unedible,
2. Pigs in blankets, tastless and full of fat.
3. Stuffing balls, tasteless and unapetising.
Well what a dissapointment and waste of money.”
“Home delivery..had meat on order ..used by date the same as delivery date . Was refused a refund no explanation given ..emailed head office .waiting on reply ..2nd time this had happen..won't be a 3rd time ..no more asda home deliveries again”
“Today I shopped as ASDA unfortunately I went to a checkout operative who thought customer service was talking to the shopper - but stopping putting items through the checkout whilst she chatted!!!!!I have no problem with them chatting whilst they continue to ‘zap’ but don’t stop. Rawtenstall used to be good, but the customer service on checkout has deteriorated and needs to be massively improved for some of the staff. Not only that, they then ‘blame’ the customer for ‘abusive’ behaviour - (it wasn’t) when the customer gets fed up of waiting to,the chatting and moves elsewhere. I think security need to understand the word abusive, and then ensure they find out the reasons from the customer instead of the operative who obviously didn’t want to be seen as being paid for chatting. The security person obviously wanted to,be seen as an authoritative employee. He was a joke. If he wanted to do right - he finds out from both parties what happened. This visit has only shown me what poor quality training these staff have. Bring back the old employees.”
“The website is as much about giving users the hard sell as it is about letting customers buy.
'We think you may like these'.
A machine thinks it knows what I like. LOL
Just let me buy and go to checkout.
Click on go to checkout - it doesn't go there!
It goes to 'you bought these in the past . . '.
Well that was the past, I have a full trolley, why wasn't I taken to checkout when I clicked on 'checkout'?
I finally reached check out!
Now it doesn't accept the card payment that is stored on the website, and hasn't expired. I used it on another site and in a shop today. My card provider says the card is OK.
Oh well.
It's a taxi to a local supermarket tomorrow. They will take my card and won't harass me to buy this and that,... or the other.”
“Visited Springfield (Chelmsford) Asda on a busy Friday, only two people on tills, result long queues, whilst more staff standing around in the self-service area. I must have been in the queue for at least 20 minutes. The expectation is always for people to use self-service. On some days only one till open, it is getting ridiculous. I am now using Sainsburys more simply because they man their tills much better. Also have now noticed that Sainsburys are reducing more items, which have become overpriced in Asda such as Lloyd Grossman, Sharwoods and Heinz. Asda seem only interested in selling their app and as a consequence the prices on other goods are going through the roof. I am very close to no longer using Asda”
