Got scammed with their $129 membership. Reported to ACCC this is not right.

Crooks do what they do, order something on their website and they opt you in with a pre ticked box on their website to deduct $129au that people have no knowledge about. This has being going on for so long in Australia and NZ why doesn’t ACCC outlaw this practice.

LIKE MANY OTHERS SCAMMED $129 CHARGE THROUGH PAY PAL INFORMED ME OF THIS CHARGE & IN THE PROCCESS CANCELLING , TURNING ME OFF BUYING DICK SMITH ITEMS , DO NOT KNOW WHICH IS RESPONSABLE , HAPPEND 2 YEARS AGO WITH AMAZON TWICE AND RECEIVED A REFUND BOTH THROUGH PAY PAL HAD TO CLOSE BANK ACCOUNTS ITS JUST A HASSEL .

My issue is the same as every other complaint! I was deceived into paying $129 for an unsolicited First Membership! They created an account on my behalf after saving my details and charged to PayPal after 2 weeks! This is an appalling business practice, any such offer should be entirely separate from the purchase transaction and not luring unsuspecting consumers who are just looking to make a single purchase! In addition to demanding a refund, I’ve lodged a complaint with ACCC which I will NOT be withdrawing regardless. This is predatory and clearly a money spinner for them given the sheer number of complaints on multiple websites (please see review.com.au for more!).

Like many of the previous posts, I've been duped with an annual membership of $99 that I didn't want. Thinking this was a fraudulent transaction I called the bank and cancelled my card. It's insidious and deceptive business practice.

I ordered an item from Dick Smith then later on that day found out that they had signed me up on a First membership without my knowledge or authorisation to do so. Lucky I went back into my account and saw that I was signed up on a 14 day trial that I didn't know about which after the 14 days they would automatically bill me $129 for an annual membership that I didn't want in the first place. I have cancelled the trial membership that they signed me up for without my knowledge or consent with a sneaky pre ticked box that I didn't know about. What a dodgy company to do this to unsuspecting people.

Do not buy from this company. They have an automatic membership payment that if you fail to untick the box they will take $99 for no reason other than fake membership deals that you never asked for.

I ordered a pair of joggers online (Monday). When I received the order confirmation I noticed that the order had a different size to what I asked for. I immediately sent an email to Dick Smith's customer support to get the order rectified. 3 days later still no response, but I get a message on my phone advising me that the joggers were to be dispatched on the following Monday so I sent another email to customer support to try to get the order rectified before it is dispatched. A little while later (same day) I get another message saying that the order has been dispatched. Then a short time later I get an email advising me that the item had been dispatched and once I received the delivery to contact customer support to organise the return and replacement with the correct size. I waited till I got the delivery (Tuesday 2/4) and I emailed customer support to organise return. I got a return email advising another customer support member would contact me.( ticket # 17331833). I've followed up with a couple of emails since but haven't even had the courtesy of a response.In the mean time I've noticed that the size I was originally supposed to get are now longer available. Now I am stuck with a pair of joggers that I cant ware and can't return and get a refund because it appears that Dick Smith's return policy is not worth anything. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM DICK SMITH. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU ONCE THEY HAVE MADE THE SALE.

Mutha fuggas charged me $99 two weeks after purchasing something. I cancelled but will never, ever use them again. Spread the word high and low!

DO NOT BUY - THIS IS A SCAM WEBSITE They will scam you of $99+. I purchased first time from Dick Smith because I was told they are a reputable AU company. I did not read the many reviews I now see of others warning not to buy from this website. They will auto opt you in a “First” annual membership when you make a purchase. You will not know you have this until 2 weeks after your purchase where they will help themselves to $99 from the payment details you used. If you are unfortunately scammed - Report them to https://www.accc.gov.au/ and news / media outlets.

They have stolen money out of my account I have just noticed just now two $10 transactions that were not authorised!! Reading through the comments they have done this to a heap of people. This is fraud and theft. Will be taking this matter further with consumer affairs

Received a damaged product. I submitted the required information for a replacement or refund, and although Dick Smith replied to me saying they are investigating and waiting for the supplier, I have not heard from them since, regardless of my persistent emailing. It is totally illegal and should be investigated by the Consumer Commission. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM DICK SMITH!

I ordered a bistro table & 2 chairs. The tracking service told me they'd been delivered. Two weeks later Dick Smith online enquired about my level of satisfaction. I responded online that the product had not been received. Five days later I have heard nothing & the phone number to use to logically follow up on the matter, merely links to another online messaging service WHICH WILL PROBABLY BE IGNORED. Disgraceful
