I am a repeat customer on eCampus, and I have rented things before and it's been fine. However, this time, I got the book in an okay state (a little bit of writing in it, etc.) and I returned the book with a very very small amount of discoloration on the outsides of the pages. I did not add any writing or highlighting to the book. eCampus proceeded to charge me the full cost of the book, not minus the rental price, but in addition to it. This is flatly ridiculous and gives me a reason to never rent from eCampus again. Unless they respond to my emails (they literally do not have a customer service phone number, which should tell you something), they basically took $480 from me for a book that costs $300 brand new. Will update and bump stars if they resolve the issue.

If I didn't have to use this online bookstore for most of my college books, I would leave and never look back. I rented four books, three of which were for the same class thinking all was well. Two of those rentals were used rentals (said on the campus bookstore website) and had seen very minimal wear and tear like the pages being yellow. One of the rentals had a small dried coffee stain on one of the pages, but you could still read everything perfectly fine and I wasn't made aware that it was going to be a problem. Boy was I wrong. I sent the book back exactly how I received it and then got an email saying it was "damaged beyond use". The stain was the size of my thumb, you could read all of the words underneath it no problem, and it was completely obvious it had been there a long time (Ironically, I don't even drink coffee). I called them multiple times and either they didn't answer or they would tell me I'll receive an email back from them only to be ghosted. My account was then charged and they refuse to do anything more than tell me "We'll email you back soon". Now I'll have to take pictures of every little thing and call them immediately or they'll charge me for "ruining" a book and then send it out to charge someone else. I wish they had a customer service review section on the actual website so I could warn my fellow college students, but they obviously don't want people knowing how to protect themselves against these wrongful charges or they would explicitly mention what to do if you receive a damaged rental. Save yourself from being charged for things you didn't do and document even the slightest damage in your rentals.

I wish I could give zero stars. I inquired about an extension for my son's school mandatory text book and instead of responding to my inquiries they charged my credit card $275 which is the full replacement cost of the book. Outrageous.

Hmmm... I wish that ZERO stars was an option. I ordered a psychology text for a course I'm taking, and paid for expedited shipping as well. Although I did get a tracking #, and UPS was the shipping entity, my book was sent to the wrong address. The address I specified on my order was for a long established PO Box provider. Assistance via their "24/7" chat-bot is a TOTAL non-starter, as ZERO HELP was forthcoming, and the chat-bot (AI driven) also is programed to NEVER PROVIDE a customer service telephone #. In Marine Corps Infantry doctrine what ecampus has constructed would be called "layers of defense," which are designed to keep the enemy from having access to whatever their objective(s) might be. After all, if you can't EVER get them on the phone (or facetime, etc...), then your compliant, and any meaningful resolution cannot be made manifest. Intentional CLUSTER-F**K on the part of ecampus...Bad Form..!!

Will never rent a book from them again. Returned two books and they said they were both damaged and are forcing me to pay full price for one of them. Take pictures before you ship the book back to prove there was no damage.

Their return processes are a dumpster fire. Two separate books returned were both separately incorrectly processed. They assured me my case would be escalated to a supervisor to resolve, and I have heard nothing. Now they are charging me for things that were returned. The only way you're safe with these people is to walk your returns to the warehouse and video yourself handing them to a manager.

Do not rent a textbook from this website. The books delivered to me were slightly damaged (i.e. folds in pages, slight water damage, markings, etc.). At the end of my rental, I submitted my books in the same quality I received them. I am now being charged for the full price of the book ON TOP of the rental price because the damage the book had before I ever received it. Save the hassle and money and pay for a new book or for a used one you can keep.

Do NOT rent any books from them or if you do you better take a picture/video of them when you get them and report any slight fold/tear to pages and then take a pic/video of them before you return them. When you rent a book you assume it will have general wear and tear and I didn’t think anything of it when it came with the back cover corner torn. They charged me for a “damaged unusable book” that was far from unusable. Then to top it off, they didn’t send me my book back that they just charged me for they were “recycling it” in other words probably putting a little tape on the torn edge and renting it back out. Like how is that ethical. If you charge me for it it’s mine! They said i could pay $12 to have it shipped back to me. I have never been so disappointed in a customer service department. To think they would do this to poor college kids is disgusting.

RUN AWAY DONT send your but backs. They will claim that certain book needs to be send to the publisher for verification. And your payment is delayed. You never hear back from that book and forget about payment. It will be so costly to actually send the book to the publisher, then the publisher having employees to verify it and send in back again that is more possible that ecampus just do this to keep the high value books without paying from them. Scam.

I wish I could give this company zero stars. The rental books are a scam. I rented 2 books and returned them at the end of the rental period in perfect condition. Two weeks after the books were returned to their warehouse I received an email stating that the books are damaged and they charged my credit card. I've gone back and forth with this company and when I ask for pictures of the damage, they sent pictures of text books of a different subject. When I pointed out that those are not my books they sent me more pictures of damaged books that are not the books that I returned. They charged me full rental price plus the full cost of each book totaling almost double the book value. If I want my books back they want an additional $12 shipping and I want get the books that I returned because the books I mailed them were in perfect condition. This company is a scam, predator that steals from parents and students.

Scammers. They sent me an email saying they received the books and they had to go through them. Now they’re sending me emails telling me that they don’t have the books so they can’t give any money. Scammers!

Terrible experience selling back books. No communication, and it takes weeks to process. Plenty of other sites out there that do this better. RUN or RUSH to others to SELLBACKYOUR books.

As soon as I was aware of the text needed for my class, I scoured the internet looking for someone that could get me the text I needed in time for my class or at least as close as possible. I found eCampus and according to the site, my book would be sent in time. I even paid for express delivery. I ordered my book NEW and waited. To my dismay, the book arrived 2 weeks after my class had started and it was NOT new. There were pen markings/notes in one of the chapters. I had to argue to get my express delivery payment refunded since the book was not delivered via over night. I will NEVER order from this site again nor will I ever recommend this site to anyone. OH! And all customer service is done via chat. You cannot speak to a person. No one picks up the phone. Just HORRIBLE service.

Do not rent from this place. Rented a text book that was in fair condition (highlighted, warped pages, etc). When I returned the book, they told me I needed to buy a new one to replace the poor one they originally sent. When I disputed this, I didn’t receive a response. I just checked my account and they tried to charge me an additional $170!!! I will be filing a formal complaint.

eSCAMpus is horrible. They charge WAY too much money for textbooks and also do not allow returns on ONLINE textbooks...what a joke they are. They are making so much money taking advantage of the fact that college students need new textbooks now because of access codes and how even if you rent a textbook and get it cheap you still need to buy an access code.

Run away!!! Do not order books from eCampus.com. They sent me a book torn up. Every page is only half of the page. The haft pages are full written. When I tried to return the book, I had to pay shipping again. They do not care about the customer. They want your money. These people are scammers.
