I purchased a refurbished iPhone XS from this company late December 2021. It has been returned for repair 3 times in 9 months due to battery failure as they use non Apple parts. On the second failure the battery expanded and pushed the screen away from the unit, this can't be safe? I have asked for a refund but they just keep replacing the cheap battery and returning it. I will never use this company again! **UPDATE** Handtec have read my review and are now trying to get me to remove it by offering me an a partial refund. A partial refund for a phone that was never fit for purpose! I am now taking legal action against them as this is a total rip off!

I sent my phone off to these people and 5 days later I’ve got an email saying that they have not received my phone. I immediately said to myself, this is a scam. I replied back with a copy of my receipt, but I don’t have much hope in receiving money or my phone. Please stay away from this SCAM company.

Totally a scam company. AVOID THIS COMPANY! I sent my Samsung phone to them as they said if it was in good condition and working they would pay £107 (my phone was in A1 condition with No marks or scratches.) Once Handtec received my phone they revised their offer to £61 saying it had dents and scratches. (Total RUBBISH) Once I replied and said please return it. They then said “Oh, we have now sent it to another engineer and would like to offer you £81”! REALLY?? At this point I just wanted my phone returned as it was clear they are scamming people. Eventually I got my phone returned and sure enough it is spotless and in A1 condition! AVOID THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY!!!!

I had a pretty awful experience with Handtec. I ordered a phone, they sent me the wrong phone! I was told if I sent it back I would receive the correct phone. They offered me £25 discount for all the hassle. Once they received the wrong phone, they told me that the original was no longer in stock. I received a refund, but was told that I would no longer receive the £25. Complete amateurs in my opinion!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They will NEVER pay you the price they offer. My phone was in pristine condition…not even a scratch. So, I selected it was in good condition and got the offer £233. I sent it off then I receive an email saying the engineers had looked at it and there was a dent on the frame and scratches on the screen and they were reducing my offer to £160. I could not believe this and began to wish I’d just used a reputable company that I’d used in the past like Mazuma. Handtec were offering a slightly higher price and now I know why…because they scam you. I am an honest person just trying to recycle my phone and I have never felt more upset at being duped by these utter scammers. Please, please, please DO NOT use them. I don’t want anyone else to have this experience because it makes you feel, quite honestly, like you’ve been robbed. It’s not so much about the money, it’s the dishonesty and immoral integrity that has really got me. Never again will I use an unknown company. I’ll stick to what I know.

Awful. Avoid at all cost. So called phone will be "destroyed", more like used for parts to make more. Sell to the Magpie instead. Customer support is poor, they cannot even spell basic words.

WARNING - DO NOT SELL TO THEM Sent in my old tablet after obtaining a price from them online of £190. Two weeks after they received it they emailed to say there was an ‘error on the website’ and that it was only worth £90! Clearly this is a scam that they routinely pull looking at the other reviews here.

Sent them my perfectly working iphone 6 with big memory slot, the quote was £120. There was not a scratch on it. Few days later I received an email from them saying "unfortunately the sound dynamic is faulty and screen has a deep scratch". I told them I personally checked it before sending and asked to provide a proof. They send me a photo of a screen with a scratch!!!!!!! F*CKING BASTARDS!!! Told them to immediately sent it back to me, their first offer was £86, the second was £94. After I told them I need my phone back asap, I got email saying it was sent back to me and I'll receive it in 2-3 days. After 4 days of waiting nothing came !!! I emailed them again. Turned out they didn't send it back, probably to see if I forgot about the phone. SCAMMERS! AVOID AT ALL COST !!! Ps. If I get it back extremely damaged I'm going to police idc

Sad to hear I have had a similar story to most. Perfectly working Iphone X not even a scratch, they offered a market matching quote and then halved it after receiving the item. Making up various things such as 'screen lifting from frame' and that parts needed replacing. When I asked for proof of these issues, they simply actioned a return of the phone to me instead and said they are sorry they couldn't help. Absolute joke and waste of time. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Absolutely raging that I didn't read these reviews before sending my perfect condition phone to these absolute scammers! Offered £153 and have dropped it to £100 for imaginary scratches on the frame! I have video evidence which I posted on social media of me packaging up the phone (I have a significant following) am awaiting their response to me asking for my phone back but they will defo be reported to trading standards, how they get away with this is a joke!

Got a phone from handtec a while ago, the screen was pretty glitchy when it arrived, but stopped after a while. After having the phone for a while, out of nowhere, the modem firmware went (face ID broke, signal wouldn't connect, screen went glitchy again, phone kept rebooting, wouldn't recognise a charger), which is a phone issue, not a user issue. I emailed handtec as it was still within it's warranty and sent it off to them, however they refused to replace the phone and tried to claim that everything that went wrong with it was my fault - even though i spoke to a phone specialist outside of the company and they informed me that i had not done anything wrong and it was completely a phone issue. They also took so long to reply to any of my emails, and didn't even update me about what was going to happen, I had to follow up to even find out if I was going to get my phone back. Awful, would never use them again

Similar to other reviews. Perfectly good iPhone 11 Pro that worked like new, been in a case from day 1 with no obvious chips, scratched etc offered over £300 then their ‘engineers report’ came back with scratches on side, chip on glass etc etc … describing things I hadn’t ever noticed - their reduced offer was £175. Immediately asked for phone back where they then offered £200, declined that and told them to get it back to me immediately. Had a dozen iPhones and never had issues with any recycle company - but these cowboys are the worst, avoid avoid avoid!

Quoted £330 for my iPhone 11, they then offered £140 after their checks - the phone was in very good condition. I emailed to say that I was disappointed with the service and wanted my phone back. They sent my phone back - which now doesn’t work at all despite never having problems before. Stay away from these scammers!!

Avoid Avoid - initial quote was reasonable, but engineer's report upon receipt did not reflect the condition of the phone when shipped and the resulting reduced offer was laughable; have requested return of device so it can be sold via a company who are willing to make an honest assessment of condition. Checking other recent reviews it seems this is a fairly common occurrence when selling devices, which is odd when they have so many positive reviews relating to the condition of the products that they sell.

Same here ridiculous offer on a perfect phone, totally made up issues. Asked for my phone back not replying to my emails. I will be taking them to trading standards if I don’t get it back. Avoid. I shall also be posting bad reviews on every site I can find every day if I have too. They need shutting down.

This company doesn't even deserve 1 star, absolute cowboys. Offer the highest price to draw you in and then drop the price once they have received the phone claiming there are scratches on the phone even though the phone looks like new. Don't waste your time with them.

Absolute scammers. They offered a high price, I sent the phone in it's box without a single scratch. They came back saying it was significantly scratched so slashed their price from £200 to £110. Luckily I had photos to prove them wrong and proves they just made that up. Criminal. And then they returned my phone without it's box. These people are sharks, avoid at all costs.

Absolute con/scammers. Sold my phone to them give me a price then once they received phone said it was damaged which was a lie. Finally got money after a week. Communication is rubbish can only do it through email and takes a day to get a reply. Worst people to sell phone to ever.
