“There are so many limitations that I cant do. I want to be in control of which apps to install and which not to, there are tons of apps that I know dont have backdoor internet access and I cant install them because pinwheel doesnt let me, thats wonky. I've submitted the apps and they havent been approved yet or even given a timeline of when they will get looked at. I dont want to sit around and wait hoping something my kid needs for school gets approved. My kid even grabbed my screen shattered broken 10 year old phone and started using that instead. Not a good look for Pinwheel.”

“I’ve currently been with tech support for over a week with kids messenger not loading on the phone. This app is very important to us. Tech support has been nice and tried to fix it but can’t. I really like everything else about the phone and service, but that app is pretty darn important.”

“I have had the pinwheel phone for one week and am still unable to use it because it does not allow me to move past the activation of the Mint Mobile sim card which was advertised as being compatible with the model of phone that I purchased. Super disappointing, as the ease of activation and implementation of this phone plan was what sold me on the device in the first place. I love the idea of Pinwheel in theory, but so far have not benefitted from it. It's just been kind of a headache to set up.”

“The system is good overall. However, it is a major miss that there is no option for monitoring or limiting phone time (total and by app). If I had realized this ahead of time, we would not have gone this route.”

“I think Pinwheel is just fantastic. I love the fact that my kids can have a smartphone, but without unfettered access to the internet and all the pitfalls that come with it. I like being able to see what my boys are texting with their friends and being able to adjust who can send the pictures. I only give four stars because not all of the apps that I would like them to have aren't always reviewed by Pinwheel or don't tend to function well. All-in-all, Pinwheel is a great phone for parents who want their child to have a phone, but not have all the functionality that comes with a smartphone.”

“I can't say enough positives about this company. From their products, support, 24/7 help files and the ease of use of the parent Dashboard, all amazing! Without this company, I still would not feel comfortable letting my middle-schooler have a cell phone. He can now feel empowered to call our text us in an emergency and connect with approved friends and we as parents have peace of mind that we can know what is going on. Their needs to be more good like this in the world. Only dislike is the that I cannot remove the Google Photos application or at least hide the icon, but this is not Pinwheel, its Google due to the Android cell phone platform, even on the rugged phone. Again, this is not within their control and have shared my comment/concern with applicable parties.”

“I love pinwheel. I do wish there was an option to shut off calling while allowing texting. I find my child gets around the features by making calls. I also don’t like that I can see pictures, but can’t watch videos that are received. All in all it’s a great system!”

“I love it mostly! My one complaint is you can’t “ping” the phone to find it. Also the GPS tracking is slow and not always accurate. Other than that we’ve loved it so far! I love how I can give more freedom and apps to my older and less to my younger child and can customize the phone”

“I ordered the phone on August 1. I still haven't received it. Live chat customer service tells me it's on backorder with no ETA. To say it's frustrating is an understatement.”

“So unhappy with this phone. All I want to do is return the damn thing and get a refund and that's been a nightmare. I think I got a broken phone to begin with and have never got it up and running to where it will make calls. Very disappointed!”

“I had to cancel the service and phone before we received it. I ordered on August 1st, and when August 15th arrived I still didn't have confirmation of shipping, I reached out to customer service who did confirm the phone hadn't been shipped and she couldn't quickly give me a date about when it would. What good is a free trial when I don't have my phone by the stated 10 business days? I'm very disappointed with the whole experience and can't recommend Pinwheel. The website needs to be changed and state the correct dates about when phones will be shipped, if it's longer than 10 days, the trial period should be extended.”

“Love everything about it except the app selection. There need to be more popular apps for parents decide if their kids should have access to them. YouTube kids, Netflix, Disney+, etc”

“This phone is exactly what every teenager should, my daughter is 12 years old and even though it does not have social media web browser which is the reason why we bought it in the first. She wouldn't know of course. She really likes it, there are many apps that she really enjoys , the camera is amazing. We as parents are forever grateful to pinwheel for idea of having this type of phones for kids”
