About The Thompson Method:

The Thompson Method is a gentle, evidence based method towards a gentle birth and pain-free breastfeeding experience. It was created by Dr Robyn Thompson, a midwife with over 45 years experience who was awarded a PhD for her research into why so many women were being discharged from hospital with painful nipple trauma and other breastfeeding complications such as engorgement & mastitis.

The Thompson Method challenges the forceful breastfeeding techniques, linked with painful nipple trauma, that are commonly taught in most hospitals. It’s for ALL women who want to breastfeed, but particularly those giving birth in the hospital system because it offers a gentle alternative to help women AVOID the most common and painful breastfeeding complications.

But it’s more than just the technique on how to get a good latch. It is that, but it’s so much more...

Because of this program, my son latched right away and I have very minimal pain when breastfeeding. It has been a major success and the community is really supportive and helpful! Grateful that I had gotten this program and had an idea of what to expect for delivery, first few days, and the journey after.

As a life long member I tapped into the program again with my second child. 6 months and still going strong exclusively breastfeeding. Freezer full of milk from when I was pumping in the early days being used to mix into solids and I couldn’t be happier. My experience with bub number two has been completely different and I owe it to you Robin. Thank you

Hands down, The Thompson Method has been the best investment! I started the program when I was 28 weeks pregnant. It filled me with all the confidence I needed for my birth and breastfeeding journey. My baby is just over 5 weeks old, has been gaining weight beautifully, and my supply has been amazing. The best part? I have had ZERO pain. I can’t believe it. I'm loving every moment of my breastfeeding journey, thanks to Dr Robyn and her team. I can’t recommend The Thompson Method enough.

We are 3 weeks into our breastfeeding journey and it has been going so well thanks to Dr Robyn! We had a planned c section on Nov 9 and baby latched right away and has been happily feeding ever since ❤️ I have learned so much from the videos, reading other peoples' questions and seeing the admins responses. This is such a great community of people and Im so grateful to be apart of it 💐 Thank you!!

Let me start by saying this time around I have LOVED breastfeeding! I would never have thought those words would ever have come out of my mouth. No nipple damage. Not even any pain! My milk came in on day 3. No top ups. It was like a dream come true. My first breastfeeding experience was traumatic to say the least. Nipple damage from day one. I had no idea what I was doing and no one to lean on when I needed help. The midwives were lovely at the hospital but they just didn’t seem to be worried about the fact that I was in so much pain. They just kept reassuring me that it would get better. It didn’t. It got a lot worse, til at 3 weeks I had to switch to formula with every intention of trying again once my nipples healed but sadly it didn’t happen. I knew something had to change this time around. And oh my goodness, it was like night and day. I got the program as soon as I found out I was pregnant, and I never looked back. The price seemed very reasonable given that it was lifetime access. There was so much that just made sense and I understood where I went wrong first time around. I reached out in the Club as soon as I gave birth, because I had a moment of doubt but I was met with a mountain of support and reassuring guidance, encouraging me to trust my instincts, which I did. It was all I needed to bring everything back to just me and my baby. I just feel so fortunate that I found Dr Robyn and her program. I am blessed to still be breastfeeding my little man at 6 months and I plan to keep going til he’s ready. Thank you Thompson Method. Thank you to the Thompson Method team. You are all wonderful ♥️

The information seems decent but it really didn't offer anything new that I didn't already know. Not only that but the refund policy is only 14 days from purchase so if you purchase it in time to get through it before baby, if nothing works then it wad a waste of money. I'm saddened that it didn't work for me and the money I could be putting towards formula was thrown at this and wasted.

Hi Sam, I'm really sorry to hear that our program did not meet your expectations. We take all feedback very seriously, and do our best to continually improve the education and support we provide. I notice you didn't reach out for help in the Breastfeeding Club, which is a shame, as we have an expert team of Admins ready to provide guidance and support 24/7. I would like to reassure you that if the time comes when you fall pregnant again, I invite you to reach out for guidance as you do have lifetime access to both the program and the Breastfeeding Club. I would be most happy to guide you through the program to ensure that you are getting full benefit from Dr Robyn's 50 years of midwifery experience. Thank you for sharing. Your feedback is invaluable and I wish you well in your unique journey. Warm regards, Marie - Team Member 💗

Thank goodness I had gone through the program prior to having my daughter. We got no support in the hospital and had I not participated we wouldn’t have had a successful journey. I fed my daughter for 22 months with no bottles, pumping or formula. The club was an amazing resource for troubleshooting any issues. Looking forward to my next breastfeeding journey to start!

Gratitude post Before I started the Thompson method I never thought in a million years I would be posting this. Today marks 3 months of successful pain free and problem free breastfeeding my third son. with my first son I had severe nipple trauma, repeated bouts of incredibly bad mastitis and ended up in hospital with an abscess. I felt like the people who should have been supporting me really let me down with many different midwives and health visitors failing to spot that I had thrust in my nipples. I felt completely lost and didn’t know where to turn or help. The excruciating pain stress and anxiety lead me to give up when he was about 10 weeks old. My second son was born 18 months later and when I came down with a severe case of mastitis when he was 5 weeks old I decided to give up straight away as I couldn’t face going through the trauma of what I went through with my first again. I had all my babies at home and desperately wanted to breastfeed them both and it really impacted me that I couldn’t. 5 years later and I had my Third son on 30th Aug this year. I had come across the Thompson method early in my pregnancy and purchased the course. I genuinely believed that someone was wrong with my breasts so didn’t hold much hope that it would work but I am so delighted to be posted this to say that it did! It’s be plain sailing since day one. I never thought I could make it to 3 months let alone without a single issue! This is the longest I have ever managed to breastfeed and I hope this journey continues the way it has started. I will be forever grateful to Dr Robyn and her team for being courageous enough to challenge the status quo when it comes to breastfeeding. I only wish this was rolled out in the NHS and maybe I could have had successful outcomes with my older boys.

We just had our weight check at 5 days old and baby boy is officially 1 oz above birth weight (he had dropped 4 oz in the hospital). I just wanted to say that this method really works and it was a life savor for us. His pediatrician was astonished that he was already above birth weight since this is my first baby - first time breastfeeding. We didn’t have the most ideal start with some issues during delivery that interfered with the golden hours, but this program gave me a plan and we recovered. I’m sure we’ll have some bumps down the road, but so far, he’s thriving.

I used the Thompson Method to prepare for and exclusively breastfeed my oldest daughter for 18 months with very little, if any, nipple trauma. Now, 3 years later, I’m able to take what I’ve learned about breastfeeding a single baby and apply it to breastfeeding my twins, in tandem or separately.

Just want to show my gratitude for how much The Thompson Method has helped me so far. It was a struggle at first and I was close to giving up within the first week. But with this program and group filled with amazing admins and mamas, we pushed through and got past the most challenging part. My baby boy is only 6 weeks old and thriving and plan on going for as long as he needs 🩵

If you are on the fence about joining The Thompson Method community, jump. I had two daughters years and years ago, and Itried breastfeeding both. With both it ended very early. I had no clue what I was doing and I had no help. When my son came along 17 years after my first I knew I wanted to breastfeed. Formula shortage, Formula recalls, I wanted no part of it. So I started researching. In my searches I came across the Thompson method. I debated and was on the fence for a couple of months. But could I really do it all by myself? No...I made the jump. The difference was night and day. It was literally the difference between success and failure. When my boy was born I knew what to do, he latched right on and a year later he is still nursing like a champ. Anytime you have any trouble or questions you have help and it is wonderful. I can't thank Dr. Thompson enough for setting me up for success. Best thing I invested in for this baby.

As a first time mom, it was helpful to be able to prepare for breastfeeding by watching the videos before baby arrived to know what to expect. Those first few days in the hospital are stressful enough and knowing what was happening with my milk supply was one less stress. There’s so much information provided as well for once baby arrives and reaches new milestones like teething or if they are experiencing issues like reflux, which my baby did. Support from the Facebook group Administrators is really wonderful too when questions arise.

Just wanted to express my gratitude for Dr. Robyn's teaching and philosophy around motherhood. While her classes focus on the early days and actual breastfeeding, I've taken the "your instincts as a mother will never be wrong" to heart, especially as I battle PPD. It's led me to feeling comfortable feeding my daughter basically anywhere. I also use my handsfree pumps at work and sit in meetings when my presence really is necessary. When asked "what's that noise?!" by a client's boss, I proudly announced "I'm pumping!" while everyone else looked awkward that he had asked. 😂 TBM made me a confident, bada**, first time mom. Thank you to the whole admin team for being with us all every step of our journeys!!! ❤️

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for this program! My daughter and I have begun the weaning process but as of Monday 9/18 we will have made it to a year! Since I wasn't able to get beyond 6 months with my son- making it to a year was a goal and we're nearly there! I wouldn't have been able to make it without this program. From the pregnancy videos to the delivery recommendations, and the importance of the 3 golden hours, my experience this go around with breastfeeding was like night and day! I wish I had this resource when I had my son. It was just a wonderful experience! I highly recommend!

I called to action a rescue course with this program. It was a last chance effort to salvage my breastfeeding journey, and it worked! It not only changed my perspective on breastfeeding but my whole outlook on my journey. I have now been exclusively breastfeeding for 10 months thanks to this course and the support and continuing education I received from it. I am forever grateful and a true believer in Dr. Robyn’s methods. Delivery is very accessible to new moms who are very overwhelmed and busy. Education and knowledge are just a question away it’s amazing. As a nurse, and a new mom the way I was explained about breast anatomy and function while breastfeeding was phenomenal and helped me gain more understanding of my body which was exactly what I needed ❤️ truly thank you.

Unbelievable support. Invaluable information. Amazing community. This is something that should be offered as a standard to all via a more official way … I feel strange to have just “come upon it on Facebook” and almost la but guilty that I have access to this resource and others don’t know of the secret treasure I found. I speak about it often to do my part to help others. I can’t imagine where I would be without this group. Now, going through my second pregnancy and first few weeks breastfeeding an entirely different baby, I’m forever indebted to Dr Thompson & her team.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to The Thompson Method! I failed miserably to breastfeed my firstborn son but with this invaluable information, I am successfully breastfeeding and PAIN FREE as well. I was separated from my baby due to severe jaundice but I didn't panic because I knew exactly what to do while he was in NICU. I purchased your program early in my pregnancy and after watching all of the videos and reading all of the success stories in the support group I felt confident and prepared. I truly believe this made all of the difference this time around! I am one truly grateful Mumma!
