We booked a weekend at Agfa Lake and Captain Max messaged to tell us they’d had some flash floods and the area was flooded. He was working hard to get it back in shape but it was still saturated. He asked if we’d be okay with his other site up the hill, Occanum Creek. We were fine with it, and appreciated him accommodating us at his other site on short notice.
When we got there—Captain greeted us and showed us to our site, and we were glad to have the other spot. It was secluded and in the middle of a great patch of woods with plenty of places to hike and explore. Our dog loved it too, and ran so much he wore himself out for the weekend in less than two hours of being there. We live in a small town with a small yard, so he absolutely LOVED running around in the woods and exploring the new area.
Max stayed a few minutes to show us around and tell us about himself. He also gave us some info about what there is to do at the site and in the area. He was an amazing host for many reasons, but also because he lives super close to both sites and told us to get in touch with him or just walk over if we needed anything at all. He checked in on us over the weekend to make sure we were happy, had enough supplies, and to let us know if he’d be around. We’re seasoned campers and used to roughing it in small tents or our car, but it made the weekend even better knowing we had Max around if we needed anything.
We really enjoyed the Occanum Creek site. It’s private and quiet, close enough to a small town if we needed to go to the market, and super close to a cute ice cream shop called Schoolhouse Creamery… delicious Hershey’s ice cream, and they offer a pupcone if you want to spoil your doggo. At the campsite, there’s plenty of land to roam and explore, plenty of deadfall for fires, a creek about a half mile away, the lake across the street, and quite a bit of both shaded and sunny areas for warmth or shelter. The tent is in great shape and the bed is comfy, plus we had some pretty significant rain overnight and didn’t feel a single drop of water. There’s also room to park and plenty of space for tents if you have additional guests.
We really loved our camp weekend and Captain Max made it even better. We hope to stay in touch with him and can’t wait to go back again soon! This was our first Tentrr experience and we’re already looking forward to our next.
Thanks, Captain, for a truly wonderful birthday weekend for both of us! We hope to see you again soon!
