What an adventure. From passing through the Drake Passage with ease due to very calm waters to seeing 4 varieties of penguins over the next 10 days. We were lucky enough to be able to be the first ship of the season to sail through the Weddel Seas thick sea ice to get to Snow Hill. The weather was exceptional and we were able to get the helicopters to take us to the Emporer Penguin colony. What a sight was in front of us on. On the path a lone Emporer was blocking my way to the colony so I went around him and before my eyes was the sight of the Snow Hill penguin colony. Too many emporers to count with many chicks still trying to get their feet.
The expedition ship was comfortable and relaxing with 3 daily talks by the knowledgeable experts who spoke of many various topics relating to Antarctica. The food was always tastey with many choices at every meal as well as a coffee and tea station that was accessable anytime day or night.
I haven't stopped talking of the Expedition I was lucky to go on and it exceeded my expectations of what my time in Antarctica would be like.
