I was involved in a car crash where I unfortunately crashed into the back of somebody. 1st central handled everything really well until it came to repairing my car. My windscreen was badly damaged in the crash and their engineer refused that the damage was made in the crash. There was quite clearly glass and debris at the foot of my windscreen but their engineer refused the damage from their computer screen. I have had to pay a £350 excess for some of the damage but will also have to pay for the cost of the repair of my windscreen which is outrageous as it was done in the accident. If 1st central won’t pay for damages created by accidents why do we bother being insured in the first place. Also the person I spoke to on the phone today was extremely rude and arrogant! Avoid at all costs.

I was almost scammed $200k dollars by this establishment and I was very sceptic from the on set but all thanks to AIXALTD.COM for coming to my aid and I was really surprised at how quick they swung into action, I’m glad I have my investment back

Loyal customer for 5 years. Never any problems until I renewed my insurance for a fifth year. Got a strange text/email from them. The text/email said that they need to do some checks and that I need to call them to ensure my policy is 'validated'. So gave them a call. Oh my word, the stress. They asked how many miles I do a year. Based on what I said, they calculated I do 6k miles and not 5k. (Not sure where they justify their calculations from). They decided my policy had to be changed - £71 for them to add incorrect info that shouldn't even change as I do 5k miles. Account is frozen online until I pay that sum of money. Can't cancel my policy online until I pay the money. So made a complaint by email. On the day I made a 2nd call back after the 1st one asap to dispute it. No call back yet - I don't think they'll ever return the call. Now I have the option to either cancel my policy, which I don't know how much it'll cost but imagining it'll cost a bomb. Or stay with them for another year and risk that they will look for other errors in my policy and charge other unnecessary admin fees. Awful. And not how you treat a loyal customer. DO NOT USE THIS CAR INSURER EVER.

Very rude customer service agents, bait and switch pricing after you’ve already signed onto their insurance, and just a generally scammy company.

Do not trust this company. Please actually read the other review sites. They actively look for mistakes so that they can charge you an admin fee. They asked for me to uploads my v5 for no reason, then said I put the purchase of my car at a different day. It was 1 day out of the v5 but that was the day I purchased it. They then thrived to charge me £125 to change it. I argued about it and they cancelled my policy sending me a cancelation fee. They ate criminal.

I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience with 1st Central Car Insurance that I feel compelled to share. From start to finish, the service was appalling, with a series of lies, unprofessional behaviour, and unnecessary charges. First and foremost, I was left speechless when they ended the phone call on me not once, but twice. Despite being promised a call back, no one ever reached out to follow up. It’s clear they have no regard for their customers’ time or concerns. The lies told by the representatives were downright infuriating. Every time I spoke with someone, the information I received seemed to contradict what was said previously. I was given conflicting details about policy changes and cancellation fees, which left me completely confused and frustrated. Speaking of the cancellation fees, I was charged an outrageous £50 to cancel the policy. However, when I checked their website, it clearly stated the cancellation fee should be £35. This inconsistency only added to my frustration, especially since I was given no explanation for the higher charge. The situation became even more ridiculous when my son switched jobs from an Admin Assistant to a Sales Executive. For this small change, 1st Central increased his policy by a shocking £848. It’s hard to understand how a job title change could result in such a massive price hike, especially when no substantial risk factor was added. The lack of professionalism continued when I spoke with a manager who was not helpful in resolving the issue. Not only did they insist on seeing my son’s contract as proof of his job, but they also requested a payslip. Who asks for a payslip to make a policy adjustment? It’s not something any reasonable insurer would demand. This level of scrutiny was completely unnecessary. To top it all off, 1st Central made numerous mistakes on their end throughout this process. From incorrect information to errors in how they handled the policy details, it became clear that this company is disorganised and untrustworthy. I would never recommend 1st Central to anyone looking for reliable and professional car insurance. Their customer service is abysmal, their pricing is unreasonable, and they don’t care about resolving issues or treating customers fairly. Avoid them at all costs.

Never use.Extremely unhelpful insurance company. You must avoid at all cost. Over a month since the claim and not fully settled yet. Despite I paid for excess protect this has not been returned. The policy has not been settled despite multiple emails. Despite I paid for a courtesy car, the car has been collected after 48 hrs without consideration for my needs or my situation.

Really high £30 admin charge when calling them. You can't always update everything online. They don't let you know at beginning of call. Like a tax on doing the right thing.

I send them email to not renew my policy 4 weeks before end. I bought other insurance, much cheaper. They renewed by themselves, took money from my account, didn't respond for emails. And at the end , after cancellation gave me back £36 less what they took it...

stay clear, they canceled my car insurance out of the blue. and instead of calling me about it, they sent me an email that landed in my spam. I marked when signing up to contact me via phone call and SMS , but they did not really care for that, the reason they cancelled me , was due to me not supplying enough NCD info, even though past NCD emails where sent to them, for 3 different sources, and they never called to say there was in issue till I called them after being warned I was driving without insurance. joke of a company.

Review of 1st Central Car Insurance: Avoid at All Costs I had an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with 1st Central Car Insurance, and I would strongly advise anyone considering this company to look elsewhere. Despite initially being drawn in by their competitive pricing, the subsequent complications and poor customer service have convinced me that the cheaper rates are not worth the hassle or hidden costs. My Experience: I’ve had three cars insured with 1st Central under a multi-car policy. When I sold one of my cars and wanted to transfer the insurance to my new car, I encountered several issues that made the entire process difficult and costly. Here’s what happened: • Unfair Cancellation Fees: When I informed them that I was selling my car and transferring the insurance to my new car, they treated this as a policy cancellation rather than a transfer. This distinction resulted in unexpected cancellation fees, despite my intention to stay with the company under a multi-car policy. I ended up being charged £111 in fees for the last three months of coverage, even though my monthly premiums were only £90. This makes no sense and seems like a deliberate way to penalize customers who make changes mid-policy. • Loss of No-Claims Bonus: Because they considered it a cancellation, I also lost the no-claims bonus I had accumulated over the previous nine months. This was completely unfair, as I was still continuing my insurance with them on the new car. Despite my numerous attempts to explain that I hadn’t really “cancelled” but merely transferred the policy to a different vehicle, they refused to reconsider. • Confusing and Unclear Policy Terms: When I asked if this meant I could not buy a new car mid-policy without incurring cancellation fees, the customer service representative confirmed that was the case. This essentially locks you into the 12-month policy period, making it prohibitively expensive to make any changes, even when you’re not leaving the company. If you buy a new car, expect to be hit with cancellation fees as if you’ve decided to terminate your policy altogether. Terrible Customer Service: • Long Wait Times: Trying to get help or even a straightforward answer from customer service was a nightmare. I called four separate times about the same issue, each time getting a different response that did not solve the problem. It took an excruciating four hours to get through their chat service, and in the end, I had to abandon the conversation due to sheer frustration. • Inadequate Support: The customer service representatives I spoke to were unable to grasp the nature of my problem and offered no practical solutions. It seemed as though their systems and policies are designed to confuse customers and discourage them from seeking help. • Multi-Car Policy Issues: If you have multiple cars insured with 1st Central, be aware that you will need a different email address for each policy. This is extremely inconvenient and prevents you from seeing all your cars under a single “dashboard” view. It’s a logistical nightmare that makes managing your policies unnecessarily complicated. Hidden Costs and Potential Risk: While 1st Central may offer lower premiums than many competitors, the hidden fees and penalties for making any changes to your policy can end up costing much more in the long run. My experience with their customer service has also made me very skeptical about how they would handle an actual claim. If it’s this difficult to get basic questions answered, I shudder to think what it would be like to pursue a claim in the event of an accident or damage. Overall Rating: 1/10 The only positive aspect I can mention is the initially lower price, but even that doesn’t make up for the significant drawbacks. I’ve decided to stay with them for my other two cars only until the end of their 12-month policies to avoid further cancellation fees. After that, I will never deal with this company again. Conclusion: If you’re considering 1st Central Car Insurance because of their attractive rates, I urge you to think twice. The money saved upfront will likely be lost in hidden fees, lost bonuses, and hours of frustration. They make it extremely difficult to get anything done, making you feel trapped and ultimately powerless. I would never recommend 1st Central to anyone and would advise anyone in the market for car insurance to steer clear. Save yourself the trouble and look for a more transparent, customer-friendly insurance provider.

Like the person below, they have requested an extra £900 30 days into the policy and refuse to provide evidence/terms/policy. They've quoted almost £300 to cancel and refuse to put their fees in writing to me. Avoid this company. Its like a scam

Terrible company. They took extra charges of about £900 and when I asked for refund , said that they have a policy that refunds will happen in 10 days. When I asked them to show the policy, they did not. AVOID, STAY AWAY, DONT EVEN LOOK AT THEM
