“i have been a long term customer and always trusted them, my troubles started in October 2019 i had a very good limit of 16,800 and they dropped it to 15,050, not too bad but they did this without consulting or telling me. I concluded some business and had 10,000 spare so i paid off 10,000 from my card. Come the 21st of August 2020 i received a letter telling me that on the 20th they were going to reduce my limit to 6800 which is quite a drop and meant my card was now unusable, they have refused to re instate my limit despite 2 complaints as you can't get through on the phone. I find this very insulting and the card is worthless to me now so i will be advising everyone i know including clients to avoid them. I have just set up a new company and was advised that Barclays in Solihull was good but i shall now be going to a different Bank and looking for a new card as well. If an employee is no good to me i don't keep them.”
“Called up to speak to customer service, 1hr 40mns later still on hold. Automated service telling me, someone will be with me shortly. No one did, WHAT A JOKE.
This happens all the time with barclaycard.
Do not bother joining this bank or giving them your business.
I am closing both my accounts down and going back to HSBC.
This does not happen with them.

“Barclay had fraudulent charges on my account even though my credit card was never out of my possession. I spoke to a member of their fraud team, but the charges are still on my account 3 months later.”
“Fraud on my card. It was the only transaction, and their systems called me on the phone while it was in process. I said to deny it. They connected me to an agent who thanked me and said it would be denied and I have no liability.
Now they don't seem to be able to take it off. Continually tell me it's still being investigated, even though I told them not to allow the charge! It is now on my statement and will show as an unpaid debt since I have no intention of paying it.
Customer Service is polite, but ineffective. They tell me (three weeks after the event) that it takes 7-10 business days to resolve the issue. The next time I call, they tell me it takes 1-2 billing cycles to remove the charge. At that point, I have an unpaid bill on my credit report and late charges.
I've asked for documentation that it is in dispute and thus far, no communication.
Lastly - I closed the account. Now their website won't take my putting in a fraud charge since I have no active account!!!”
“Barclay card does not have ANY customer service. It is impossible to resolve any issues you might get being their customer. When you contact them online- they reply to you right away that you need to call them. You call them, you are on hold for 1 hour or you go through 15 automatic options to get to a voice message that they can not take your call and you need to contact them online or MAIL a letter to them. If you are lucky to get to somebody over the phone, they would tell you that they never got a letter you mailed them and you need to mail another letter. I filed a merchant dispute with them in February, 2020. I called them, I emailed them, I wrote letters to them. In July, 2020 they sent me a letter that they can not take any action on my dispute because too much time has passed since February. They had all information related to that dispute, I faxed them all support that the merchant issued the credit but that credit never hit my credit card account- what was preventing them from taking an action? Absolutely, useless card with no customer support.”
“Used to be quite good. Now even giving them a 1 star review is too much. Wait for ages on the phone to report a lost card because their app isn't working before being transferred and waiting again and them being told they can't help and will phone me back. That was 4 days ago and still no return call......zero customer service and their IT sucks now.”
“I had to give them one star in order to write a review, but they rate zero stars. I used the card for the first time to pay an $870 ophthamology bill. I paid off the whole thing in regular payments, but NONE of the payments were applied. Customer service was zero help. So my credit score took a huge hit.”

“Barclay Card US: Due to COVID 5/5/2020 bill paid 1 day late. Customer service guaranteed removal of Interest charge of $334.44 on 6/5/2020 Bill and No interest moving forward if paid on time. It was never removed and another Interest charge of $253.01 was on 7/5/2020 Bill. I always pay my bills in full for years. Barclay customer service is a disgrace! Promise one thing and do another!

“I complained because they didn't refund me a lot of fraudulent transactions which were very obvious but not picked up. I was given a reference number for the complaint but never received a response. I then got a credit on my card - no idea if it was from them so I have used that and asked to cancel the card - told them I was not going to ring them up. I won't be using them ever again. By comparison I also had fraud my Sainsburys card. They rang me and instantly credited back the fraudulent transactions - no quibble at all.”

downloaded the commercial card app having totally given up trying to speak to anyone on the phone, hours wasted every month.the app shows totally incorrect information and will not allow me to make payments and so directs me to call! so many complaints i have lost count. a £75 payment offered by barclays last month as an apology was never paid but card limit was reduced by £600 instead!!! its that time of the month again so will set aside 2 or 3 hours to attempt to make payment, truly shocking service”

Absolutely appalled by Barclaycard's customer service or lack thereof over the last three months. Not only is it impossible to actually get through to them (as you'll read in many reviews below), you send a secure message online where it clearly states they will respond in 24 hours and you either get a generic "we've forwarded this on" message or nothing for 4 days. Then when you do get a reply they haven't even done what you asked them to do. I phoned the number I was given by Barclays for their complaints line and guess what?! The complaints department is closed due to Covid 19!! What a surprise.
They currently owe me £2,000 which is sat on my credit card (having received a refund through my travel provider eventually) and yet they seem incompetent or unwilling to refund that credit to my bank account - which you guessed it, is a Barclays account.
If I was sat on £2,000 on their money you can bet your bottom dollar I'd be in all sorts of trouble.
Absolute joke and will be leaving Barclaycard as soon as I get my money back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
