I spent over an hour trying to get through for a car to be put on the road for collection by a dealership. I was told they could not do this because it was not or insured explaining it was not to be driven but collected by a dealership, was told they could do a recovery at cost and have it delivered to the dealership,who would not pick it up because its not on the road, checked with the dealership who said that was fine. Phoned rac for a 3rd time to pay for the recovery 2nd time I was cut off paid for the recovery timed at 4pm, 4.30pm the driver calls has this been stored of the road, I answered yes, he said he could not do it because they don't have a license for collection only recovery. Stating its been paid for he was going to call the office to arrange for another company to undertake the work. With other things going on this has madea bad day worse and added to my stress levels. What happened to the good old fashioned service

One star is far too much for this once national treasure type company that is now sadly useless rude unreliable and without any care The company cancelled my membership when I have been a member since 1971 with defamatory falsehoods about the membership use.

Reece (the mechanic) was fantastic. Can’t fault him in the slightest. Friendly to chat too, found the fault in my car and explained all to myself. Towed my car back to designed destination. First time using RAC and I certainly can’t fault it. Thank you again Reece for your help!

Their customer services don’t know what they are doing and put you through to the wrong people. Wasted my morning trying to deal with them. Joke.

Cancelled after 45 years membership. In recent years they’ve over complicated the direct debit by manipulating the renewal every year. It was fine for 40 years. Now every year they hike the price, then you phone and complain and they reduce it. After a few years this game I’ve given up. Found it very insulting after 40+ years of membership. I kept it going out of some stupid idea of loyalty….. Even cancellations are difficult with sales trained call center wanting to sales talk you round. Even when cancelled they called me repeatedly. I wouldn’t use RAC even if they offered it me free.

Trustpilot reviews Thanks for your review! RAC Breakdown Cover Worst rip off ever Worst rip off ever. I paid 200 pounds for them to send a patrol what they got wrong for 3 times, when the patrol arrived I told whats the problem because my mechanic I already told me, they don't fix the problem and said if I know a garage to call back and they go take the car, what I don't need because my mechanic comes to mine. And I still need pay for the repair on the top of the £200. So I asked the £200 refund and say they don't see a reason for that. Basically they just keep the money for nothing. A complete rip off. Worst company ever. They should be ashamed to rober the customers like that. It's like you going to a restaurant paying good money for the food and you never get the food or the money back Date of experience: 20 August 2024

Horrendous horrendous horrendous treatment by RAC with issues still ongoing. I will be writing a full review when I have recovered from the experience. I am happy for the RAC to take me to court with evidence if anything I say in my future review is inaccurate. Maybe in terms of open practice they could upload all of the calls I made as audio files, so people viewing these reviews can make their own minds up with respect to the level of service received.

I call them for breakdown help at 17:25 on Friday at 16:08:2024 I have been members since last January this Year. The staff have no training how to help customer I been waiting seven hours on busy street no one come and help then I call local recovery. Very bad service they have.

They left me stranded in the middle of Europe because they refused to listen properly and don’t understand their own T&Cs. Their ‘complaints department’ are nothing short of a joke and didn’t even bother to contact me before closing the case!

After constant and numerous calls to the RAC the mechanic turned up 23 hours later. Like other reviews we were told a time and then when they didn't turn up we rang again and was told another time and that went on from 2.20 pm on Friday till 1.15pm on Saturday. When it got to about 11pm they said they would put us in a hotel till the morning that never happened only to be told around 1am there were no hotels available. Luckily we managed to get to a BP service station at Brackley where the staff there were all very helpful and charged our phones up for us but we had to stay in the car till the next morning. Car'nt falt Mark the mechanic he was shocked of how long we had been waiting, He managed to sort are car so we could drive home another 100 miles but we have to take it to a garage to get it fixed. It is not the mechanics who are at fault its the call centre they just don't care, how can anyone have to wait 23 hours when they have breakdown cover.

Terrible experience, they never showed up, after calling them 3-4 times they are going to pick my car up after 3 days. The taxi they booked also never showed up. I was stuck with my old mum in a dangerous road for 6 hours.

Inquired twice., key fob or immobiliser problem, and clutch issue, different vehicles in the last 12 months. They didn't want to no. Since filling the form internet, location rural area its always sorry we don't do that. You might aswell lock up and order a taxi.

Cowboys in orange turned up to fix my van that had broken down the RAC mechanic done a quick fix according to him and told me to carry on I said will I be able to get home more right he said yes on route I broke down my engine blew up I try to claim against the cowboys in orange but they said it wasn't their fault and yet they advised me to carry on driving cowboys in orange don't touch them customer service is absolutely useless when you want to complain they are judge and jury no independent person looking into it cowboys in orange put the word about Carol boys in orange their new logo

Got stuck in Blackpool with a seized front break they acted swiftly after struggling a bit with the app. Stan the Mechanic got us back home very efficiently and courteously .

Extremely Disappointing Service - Avoid RAC Breakdown Cover I recently had a dreadful experience with RAC Breakdown Cover, and I feel compelled to share my frustration with others. The service I received was shockingly unprofessional, leaving me in a state of bewilderment and disappointment. After my vehicle broke down and an RAC mechanic was called out, I was left in the dark about the true nature of the issue plaguing my car. The mechanic failed to inform me clearly about an essential electrical fault that required immediate attention at a garage. Instead, he casually dismissed the problem as a mere engine management light issue that could trigger a limp mode. To make matters worse, I was misled into signing what I thought was a routine call-out form, only to discover later that it was a detailed report outlining the critical electrical fault in my vehicle. The mechanic's lack of transparency and professionalism is simply inexcusable and reflects poorly on RAC's service standards. Upon realizing the gravity of the situation, I reached out to RAC for clarification, only to be informed about the seriousness of the issue that had been downplayed by their own representative. The fact that I have yet to receive a copy of the report, despite my earnest efforts to obtain it, further underscores the utter disregard for customer satisfaction displayed by RAC. In conclusion, my experience with RAC Breakdown Cover was nothing short of a nightmare. The lack of communication, professionalism, and transparency exhibited by their staff is utterly unacceptable. I strongly advise against using RAC's services, as they have proven themselves to be unreliable and untrustworthy. Save yourself the trouble and seek assistance elsewhere.

I opted out of the auto renew home insurance policy because renewal price was too high. Even called them to cancel. RAC continued to debit my account 3 months later, also charged me for not signing the policy agreement I didn't want. I provided proof of my new policy in order to get a refund, RAC have refused to reimburse me the full amount for their own mistake. Shocking customer service, incapable of answering simple questions or admitting to their own mistake.

Total and utter shambles . Called them at 4.00 pm and finally got the car back home at 8.00 pm the following day. Could write a full report but so many issues it would take too long . Just don’t take out cover as it’s not worth the stress .

We moved house but stayed in the same village in Cornwall. We tried to change address online but could not do so (one technical issue after another!) so we had to use 'live' chat. For the address change we are being quoted an extra £147.19 plus £15 (the original cost was £166.94) So, for moving to the opposite side of the village, RAC are doubling the insurance cost. Words cannot describe this but try - iniquitous, money-grabbing, ridiculous abd a total rip off. I will try to spread this ridiculous situation as far and wide as possible - Watchdog, Martin Lewis, Natalie Cornah / Spotlight, Trust Pilot etc. etc.
