worst company ever. Paid for a mechanic to come to my house as I had a oil leak from the filter and he did not do anything. Just told me to go to a garage.

‼️BEWARE‼️ β€œHave you spotted one of our mechanics ?” Well the answer to that is probably no !!! Because they don’t seem to exist !!! β€œHelping drivers get back on the road since 1897” More like leaving drivers stranded at the side of the road since 1897 Left my dad ( who is a pensioner and diabetic ) stranded for over 13 hours till nearly midnight at the side of the road because they can’t do the one thing they are actually supposed to do !!! No recovery no help ! Their customer service is diabolical - rude, no empathy , no concern of welfare no enthusiasm to do at the very minimum , their actual job and provide assistance Imagine paying a monthly membership in the hope you’ll be protected and recovered , only to find they can’t actually do that and just leave you at the side of the road vulnerable !! Do not use this joke of a company !! RAC absolutely unacceptable service !!

The RAC's service for my 2018 Transit van was disappointingly subpar. I paid for a full service, expecting thorough and professional work. However, just 3,000 miles later, the oil-change light unexpectedly illuminated on my dashboard. Concerned, I took the van to a Ford dealer for inspection. The Ford dealer's diagnosis revealed a simple yet crucial oversight: the RAC technicians had failed to reset the oil-change light on the dashboard after completing the service. This basic error not only caused unnecessary worry but also raised questions about the overall quality and attention to detail of the service provided. When I attempted to address this issue with the RAC's complaints department, I was met with an unsatisfactory response. They dismissed my concerns, offering no resolution or acknowledgment of their mistake. This lack of accountability and customer care is particularly disappointing from a company that prides itself on automotive expertise. The experience has left me questioning the value and reliability of RAC's services. For a reputable organization, such oversights in both the service itself and the handling of customer complaints are unacceptable. It's clear that there's room for improvement in their service quality and customer support processes. In conclusion, this experience has significantly diminished my trust in the RAC. Potential customers should be aware that even basic service procedures may be overlooked, and that resolving issues through their complaints department might prove challenging.

Waiting time shocking says web page 60 mins etc got txt 10pm to 1am will phone 1/2 before arriving PARTNER been sitting in car since 6.15pm nothing to eat etc still waiting just got txt now 2am to 4am no taxis to get back to accommodation got to walk in dark

Car died 80 miles from home with 4 kids in car and a lot of luggage was unfixable roadside I have recovery and onward travel extras which were only a few quid on top of yearly price they were with me around half hour after reporting breakdown . . towed me and kids 45 mins to my mums and got me a hire car in hour and half of arriving and then took my car 112 miles to my home address the same day my car was back at my address before I was ... brilliant service friendly staff and super helpful well worth the money .. honestly don't know what I would of done without them thankyou :)

Wow this was my first call out since I joined RAC and the customer service was FANTASTICK Tony ARIVED on time and had my Harley sorted in no time quick temporary repair to the gear change got home safely a real FREINDLY guy TOTALY knoledgeble would RECOMEND RAC TO ANY ONE THANKS TONY KNIGHT OF THE ROAD OH YEAH MAN RIDE SAFE JOHN

A woman on my own in the dark needing help. I phoned the RAC but instead of a reassuring voice I was directed to a website, instructed to fill in a form and wait. Eventually I received a message with an ETA of 4 1/2 hours later. This was a scary and stressful experience.

They used to be brilliant now they're awful, the mechanics themselves are still brilliant it's the people on the phones that are a nightmare, left me stranded on the side of the road because they told me my vehicle wasn't taxed, when I checked it was 2 days out so I texted immediately a simple oversight, but they still refused to collect me, had to get a private truck to collect me, this is why I'm paying Β£60 a month to the RAC

Five hour wait. Timescales that constantly changed . Pleasant operators ,Great mechanic! Had me started in minutes. Checked alternator too.Probably too many managers, not enough mechanics! This is Normal from RAC apparently. Lost my business.Completely unreliable.

You left my daughter stranded in the dark on her own at night with an attendance lead time of 7.5-10.5 hrs!!! Disgraceful. You should be ashamed providing such shoddy service.

Yesterday 31st October 2024, I called RAC breakdown service at 2:04 because my vehicle would not start. After reporting my vehicle I got a notification that a patrol would be with me between 3:30-4:30pm, then got another text saying between 5pm-6:30. I called them again this time I was on my own broken down in an area that was not safe and I explained that I felt vulnerable at this point. The operators was polite and nice and placed me as critical reassuring me that he would try to have someone out to me quicker if possible. Another text came saying between 8:30-10:30pm. Would you believe I had to wait 9 hours, they arrived roughly 11:49pm in the space of 10 seconds the mechanic got my car working. The mechanic was nice. This is the worse service from a well established company. I will not recommend this company its only a pity I have to wait for my breakdown policy to expire before I can withdraw the contract which unfortunately, is not until next year. Very disappointed because I am a loyal customer not only for breakdown but for insurance also. Very disappointed with this service. I would have given a zero but the system won't allow me.

6 hours to collect a woman on her own on a dual carriage way with no hazards lights on and I couldn’t lock myself in to stay safe because my car was dead. Phone was about to die and I had drunks walking past me looking in the car, it was a terrible experience. Apparently is because they are busy on Halloween !! Don’t bother

Very disappointed in the process when calling to report a breakdown. You have to go online fill in your request and it’s then processed, it’s a real par-larva and who needs this when in a crisis. I was flabbergasted, it used to be simple, you called, spoke to someone and got sorted! It was so difficult that I ended up calling a friend to rescue me. Is there a simpler way RAC?

Just driving then I had a flat tire. I had a vulnerable adult with me. couldn't get through to RAC on the phone had to do some online thing which was very annoying. after about 40 minutes of finally getting through they said they will send out a tire fitter and get me on my way will take 45 minutes. 45 minutes later get a phone call from RAC saying the tire filter doesn't have your tire size but we have another one on the way which will be an hour. after an hour no one arrived so I decided to call the tire fitter he stated that he tried to ring RAC to say that he also doesn't have the tire in the size. Still couldn't get through to RAC so in the end I drove the car down the road off the B road and got a taxi home RAC didn't even call me back lol Useless

A really good bloke came quickly, diagnosed the problem (battery) quickly and accurately and got me a new battery. He explained what type I needed (lorry battery for an old landrover), went and bought one and fitted it to the battery chamber. That took 20 minutes. He was courteous and friendly throughout, even when I didn't answer my phone or wait for him to finish. Top job.

Is it possible to give no stars ? This is going to sound like an exaggeration but I promise it’s not!! By far the worst company to deal with !! Will not speak to you, just want to send emails all the time and nothing gets done !! Broke down on the 21st of October and now 11 days later they still haven’t recovered my vehicle back a distance of roughly 2 and a half hours give or take with traffic!! I have called multiple times and everyone tells you… β€œ I’ll send an email and someone will get back to you” wow if I had a quid for every time I heard that… well I’d be able to get a hellicopter by now πŸ˜‚ zero response rate zero help … not a single number you can call to speak to someone actually willing to help ( btw RAC emailing isn’t helping ) just want my vehicle back ???? The garage it was suppose to be delivered too 11 days ago has the part ready and waiting and it will be fixed in a couple of hours!!!! But instead I sit here without all my belongings and without a vehicle and without any help!!!

If we could give 0 stars, we would. This company is the absolute worst for customer service and is not helpful at all. Stranded for over 6 hours on the roadside. Do not hire this company, to go AA for better service!!

If there was a 0 star option I'd pick this. I cancelled my home insurance, because I moved house, and they told me the remaining balance would be taken from the details they had on file. I moved house and 3 weeks later I get an email and SMS off CRS debt collectors asking for the money. Why on earth did RAC not contact me directly if they've not managed to take the balance? There was money in the account waiting, and no phone call to say they hadn't managed it, just straight to the debt collectors. I've been an RAC fan for years, but this has turned my opinion into a sour one. I'll be cancelling all my RAC policies now
