Mobile mechanics came to change an injector. They caused a fuel leak. But to get them to come back I had to pay a re attend fee. They came 3 more times before saying it was fixed. They gave me the keys said all was fine... and I drove it, only to find the brakes hadn't been put back together. Very scary! Mechanic kept saying it was nothing to do with his work, bug finally convinced him to look in engine and he admitted he'd moved the brake cable and forgot to put it back. Could have been a disaster... and I still gave the fuel leak they said they'd fixed. And I have list earnings and am the carer for my mum with dementia... so I really need a working car

Complete nightmare! Bought RAC Breakdown cover through my Barclays travel insurance. Could not get the RAC account set up. Almost impossible to speak to anyone and when I did, I got cut off. Every thing seems to be online only! Was pushed towards downloading mobile app (which I didn't want). Managed to get registered but its system repeatadly fails to activate account. Barclays, do you even vet your partners? I think not. God help any unfortunate driver that actually needs breakdown help!

Avoid at all cost Called in the morning through app at 10am get a message to say will be there within 3 hours at 12 noon RAC head office called to inform that someone will reach at 1:20pm waiting till now and no one showed up. When you call them from your mobile it's blocked like loveholidays.com if you know you know. I called from another number and they picked up spoke to phil and he understood the frustration as no one has come to recover me from the breakdown, lost one day salary and now have to take taxi to take me home. Bad service and the app is also bad. RAC need to fix up this should be reported to trading standards. RAC is not a recovery company anymore they have many issues then try to blame us customers. Do they not realise without us there is no RAC. Compensation for a whole day salary plus return taxi fare I've emailed customer care to complain also.

My wife broke down on the A55 smoke pouring from the front wheel arch rang the Rac at 10.50 to be told an technician would be there at 7.45 . 15 years we were with you this is the only call out we ever had . If I could leave no stars I would absolutely disgusting service

Booked a mobile technician to carry out a new battery installation and the coding to car . Left the job incompleted & we’ve been told to take the car to a garage ??? RAC selling a service and taken our money for a simple job they don’t have the competence or equipment to complete Unable to raise complaint - have phoned & phoned keep getting fobbed off that I need a different department yet phone lines all lead to the same telephone operators

Called the RAC because I had locked my keys in the car. Was told that as I had changed my car I would have to pay £60 administration fee. I was then told that I use my car for work, I was classed as a corporation and they couldn't change the registration. I would be redirected to the breakdown service where for £199 I would have take out a completely new policy. Needless to say I gave up and my passenger who with the AA rang them and they came out. Interesting that the reason I changed my car was I had an accident last year when I was told that I wasn't covered for accident recovery although my membership card says I am. They only interested in making money especially if you are in a jam and they got over a barrel. Don't bother to complain as the telephone line isn't working and the email just says this is the way they do it and closes the complaint.

RAC is nothing like AA this is now some sort of a scam waited 8 hr for a patrol to show up only to been told I need business rescue breakdown cover but they taken almost 300 from may account past 12 months aboustley a joke complay I have canceled my cover going back to AA the fourth emergency services one call they be there under 1 hour dont need no specific cover aboustley brilliant 😉 Rac is a scam of 2024 .

I broke down T 7.30am and waited 3hrs for a patrol, he examined my vehicle but informed me that I needed a tow, estimated time of arrival??….6.18pm, that’s 11hrs waiting in central London, can’t leave the vehicle, no toilet and nothing to eat, absolutely disgraceful, my advice is DO NOT join the RAC!!!

Tried to get the Myrac app on my phone, it downloaded ok but does not recognise me as a member even tho I checked and entered my details 5 or 6 times, waste of time.

Bought breakdown insurance and had no acknowledgement or confirmation of purchase Tephoned 3 days later and told purchase was successful Complained that I'd had no confirmation at time of purchase to be told they'd emailed on day of purchase, a blatant lie! They said as I'd asked for documents by post they confirmed my purchase by post but they already said they'd sent a welcome pack on day of purchase by email which they hadn't Haven't responded to emails since so will cancel as customer service is none existent and having read the reviews on here I'll be happy to cancel Incidentally they won't tell me how to cancel!

Could not get to speak to anyone on their 24hr line. Needed help! broken down on a bad bend. was directing traffic for safety. was constantly asked to go on line . impossible! phoned a local recovery guy came in 20mins. the RAC is a money making scam

In August the RAC sent me a renewal letter which showed an approx 50% increase. It also included a lot of options I didn’t want. I then got a quote from the AA for what I actually wanted which was substantially lower. After speaking to the RAC they agreed a much lower renewal price and said a new letter would be issued. Two weeks later nothing had arrived and the original price was still shown online. I telephoned again and they said they would email a confirmation of the price. One week later nothing had arrived and the original price was still showing online. At this point I decided to switch to the AA and opt out of automatic renewal. Unfortunately you can’t do this online so I had to telephone them again, stating quite clearly I did not want automatic renewal and was not going to renew As by this point as I didn’t trust the RAC I went online with my bank and cancelled the direct debit. It was a good job I did this as, on renewal day, I had a text message from them saying: “Something's gone wrong with your breakdown cover payment. To stay covered, call 03301590559” Obviously they had ignored my instructions to cancel and had tried to take the money. The message is simple - if you decide not to renew, cancel your direct debit. They are a bunch of crooks

personally my experience with Rac is very bad...because my car had a problem. I called them at 8 in the morning and they had me on hold for 12 hours. every time i tried to contact them there is no response and the last time i contacted them they hung up on me. If you see this as normal, tell me. For me it is one of the worst companies I have worked with. if there is an option to rate you i would put you below zero because you are worthless. We are paying you unfairly

I am currently writing this while waiting in my car after calling the RAC at 2:25 PM. The initial rescue time provided was 3:40 PM - 5:40 PM, which was subsequently revised to 7:20 PM - 9:20 PM. I am disappointed with the lack of assistance provided by the team and regret my decision to become a new customer.

Called 4.40pm, alone in car park, electrical faults, told RAC would be there at 8pm. Had to move car as car park was closing and area was dark. Was told it was not safe to move car but then told by other operator it was my decision. Drove car with rattling engine to main road with hazards. Told it would be around 10pm. No escalation about female on own, in dark. Drove 5 mph home. Told RAC would be here by 1.50am. Escalation team rang said now I was home safe, no guarantee of time as other people may be vulnerable. What a ridiculous service. Spike to 9 people all saying something different. Wish I had never left the AA. Now told it will be tomorrow BUT no guarantee anyone would turn up.

I has recently broken down with my child in the car in a remote village. called RAC who told me to pay £199 fpr a call out plus £11 per month, advised road side assistance would be there is 15 mins to half an hour. Recieved a text saying a 5 to 6 hour wait. Rang back and advised was not was told , now have to wait 14 days for a miss sold call out to be paid back. Avoid...all a scam to get your money.

Member for 4 years. When I finally needed help they estimated a 5 hour wait. Not happy, cancelled the renewal and they tried to set up a £5 payment to cancel.
