Had large cordner sofa and separate 2 seater Italian leather . We’re kept in a room that was only used on special occasions . Delivery driver refused to take it . He said it couldn’t be sold . Absolutely furious at this , there was not a mark on it . In these desperate times for so many people what qualifications s do these people have . Will never donate or buy from again .

I will never donate to them again. Exactly the same comments as all these below. The driver had no intention of taking larger items saying they were damaged, or that that the bed (small single pine) needed dissembling ! I am so sad because a number of items will sell for quite a lot of money and l was gift aiding them all. Be warned

I had a table and 4 chairs in good condition. One chair did not have the fire safety tag but the lady on the phone said it would be up to the team who do the collections. They arrived this morning and when my husband said items at the back of the house and they would need to drive down a lane the 2 guys not happy and moaning.Furniture wrapped in black bags to keep it dry.One man started ripping it off and said table marked which it wasn't but could be painted. He was very abrupt and said taking nothing and drove off.The manner of these people is atrocious especially when poverty is on the increase. He said you could try another charity but to be honest not going through all that again.Furniture now broken up and taken to the dump. Really disappointed more about the attitude than the refusal.Remember this is ordinary members of the public who are only trying to help.

NEVER think of donating to BHF. I have now had two relatives trying to donate upholstered furniture (lounge armchairs) in PERFECT condition to have them refused; one relative was told the material was worn, the other that it was stained. This was totally untrue and insulting to two different house proud persons. They both have vowed NEVER to consider making ANY form of donation to the BHF and I will not do so either. I suggest you do the same and donate to one of the many other worthy charities. If I could give minus 5 stars I would

Yesterday my granddaughter went to the Pemberton shop in Wigan, her mum, my daughter, had recently passed away and she wanted to donate her mums clothes she chose the British Heart foundation because it was relevant,,. However on entering the shop she was met by a very rude girl who hardly looked at her, the girls response was to shout to someone else who was apparently the manager, who in return just shouted No. My granddaughter was really upset because she was trying to do her best by her mum, and these people didn't have the decency to look at her or even explain. Perhaps the staff in the Pemberton shop should be trained to show empathy with customers because none of us know what personal trauma someone may be experiencing, I'm disgusted. She did go to another charity shop in the area, and was treated with respect.

I was a volunteer at a BHF Furniture and Electrical store for a year, and I regretfully agree with all the negative comments below. I was taken on to help set up the eBay side of selling, and after a year of filling time doing other things (archiving, sorting the back of the shop, keeping the shop attractive and helping customers, whatever needed doing really), it became obvious that the management at the shop had no interest in me, my experience or my abilities. I used to run services at another national charity, as well as support volunteers in community engagement projects, and had 40 years' experience. Whilst I didn't mind dusting or pricing, that wasn't what I was interviewed to do. The manager in particular, was patronising and rude to me, and also many times to customers. I think there's a great mismatch between the larger charity itself, and the shops. The shops recruit people from a retail background with little or no experience of the charity sector, or of working with volunteers. It was only after being there a year that I accidentally met the regional volunteer lead, to discover there were no records of me on the system, and to hear about all the schemes supposedly running to support volunteers, none of which I'd heard of. The drivers are sub-contracted and so are running their own business which has nothing really to do with the charity. And yet the public's fist experience of the charity may well be the driver or a member of shop staff, and a negative experience will put that member off the charity for good. You have a big presence on the High Street. But it will damage your reputation if you continue to run the shops as a separate entity. Time to be a bit more joined up, BHF.

The BHF house clearance service is brilliant. Led by Kingsley from the Wandsworth furniture and electrical store, the two man team + Kingsley emptied our house in 7 hours and two truckloads. The two man team were on time (having called to say they were on their way), courteous, efficient and professional. But let me heap praise on Kingsley. From our very first chat when he explained how the service works, his survey visit to the house, the prompt issuance of a quote, and his personal assistance today… I could not have done this without his support, his charm, his hand holding and his hard work.

Went into the Reading store today with a large number of very good quality cds. I asked the woman at the till (who was busy on her phone) if she would accept them. The answer was β€˜dunno s’ppose so’. I said if she couldn’t use them I could take them elsewhere. She grabbed them from me with not a word. My parting comment was β€˜you’re welcome’. Part of me wanted to go back and retrieve them. It is the second time I’ve experienced this attitude. Needless to say I will not be returning there with anything in the future. I have always been supportive of this charity but no more.

Rude and unhelpful driver. Refused to take more than a few items although a lady who had visited before said they would take everything. Will never use again. Not surprised all the reviews are so bad. Didn’t return phone call or tell us if they were even coming.

What went wrong was, the Manager of your shop was very very rude to a paying customer. The lady only asked if she could reserve an item, she was fully going to pay for it, but just couldn't carry it then. Your Manager refused and basically told her there will be no way to reserve an item, because i won't have room in my shop to hold it. Which didn't make any sense at all. She just wanted half an hour to get her car to pick it up. What's wrong with these Managers, don't they know basic kindness to customer is common. I think her salary is being paid from our donations isn't it? She basically told the lady, take your items and leave the shop you are being rude to me I'm not going to answer you anymore. It's the Manager who was rude to the customer. She actually lost a sale because of her manner, I'm sure the woman won't be back.

This is a charity close to my heart so am very sad to be negative about them. We recently moved and were donating some pieces of good quality furniture they came and took photos of furniture and the store manager (edgeware) agreed and collection was arranged. When the delivery drivers turned up despite their paper work listing all items they refused to take one of the items as it was large and they obviously couldn't be bothered. It seems collection is down to the drivers discretion so why waste peoples time coming and taking photos for managers to authorise when it is down to the drivers. As this was a few days before our move left us with furniture to clear and only a few days to do it and we ended up having to pay someone to dump the furniture for us. This was an added stress at a stressful time and ended up costing us sorry to say I won't be donating to this good cause again. Drivers were very rude and shouldn't do the job if you're to lazy to do it properly. πŸ™„

If I could do no stars I would. We are clearing out a house of a decease friend and contacted BHF to collect some white goods and some furniture. At the first appointment they promised they would call 30 min before arrival. As we do not live at our friend’s house this would work as we can drive there in 30 min. The driver called on the day and said he was 5 min away! We said we could get in the car and get there as quickly as possible but he could not be asked to wait. We then rebooked and was given a 8am till 4 pm pick up slot. Again we do not live at our friend’s house so that is a long day to wait around. Especially when the BHF DO NOT TURN UP!! We called the provided number 4 times during that day, the first time leaving a messages. None of the calls were picked up and no call was returned. The email send the day before was not replied to either. The arrogance of this β€œcharity” is out of this world. I wanted to give items to a good cause instead of selling it on eBay but this β€œcharity” is pushing people to sell their stuff instead of doing the right thing. Do not use BHF ever find a small local charity or go on freecycle or eBay and make a few quid for yourself and the item being used instead of going on landfill

To Whom it concerns, Over the year we have giving loads to your charity, what with it being cash donations, clothes ,furniture ect…. I had a collection booked for today with the reference number β€œ 700W74-F220709478 β€œ we had made contact to the woking location yesterday with an update on our items as some had changed since we last booked a collection slot. I spoke to a lady and updated the list that is below to the following: 1. Dressing table 2. Mirror 3. Office Cabinet x2 4. 7ft Ladder 5. X2 large boxes bit and bobs Two men turned up around 9am today 22nd July. I personally found one of the men’s attitude rather rude. I first asked if he like to look at the ladder, he told me NO we don’t take ladders. He then went to pick up the x2 boxes from the living room both which had fragile on and it was like he picked them up and just dumped them on the ground out side, so not sure if any of the items we was donating broke. So as you can imagine at this point was not to happy with the service. They then came into the living room to look at the dressing room table and mirror. He told me cant take that look damage here, look this not good, how we meant to sell this! I mean very rude in the way he spoke about items we was giving away and he could have choose his words differently. We both felt let down by the people collecting the items today, and will not be using again, and also will not be donating items or cash any more. Very disappointing, and I hope they don’t speak to other people like this, maybe they meant no harm but maybe choose words differently. Not nice when some one is putting down items you have had in your house for years and maybe have connection with from family whom passed away and for them to say ….well not going there but shame on them today. Kind regards Simon

For the second time I've used BHF. I won't again, for the second time delivery men were not respectful of my home. They struggled to get 2 small recliner chairs in, they had to take door nobs off for some reason, throwing the f word about because they had to put the door nobs back on as we couldn't, the f word was used throughout the house, no consideration for being around my 92yr old relative and my learning disabled daughter in the other room, continously complaining to my wife about what's not there job, they should take it up with management, won't be using again I'm afraid.
