When I wanted to cancel the service there was no way of canceling it or removing my card on my account, and it continued to attempt to charge me although I never chose to auto renew.

On April 15,2025, Bluehost failed to maintain the updates I saved and also overwrote entire sections of the template with a completely different content section from a different template. A feat in which I do not know how to do. On April 14, 2025, I selected a template, updated text, and uploaded a logo, then saved my work. I logged in several times that day and the edits last saved were always there. When I logged in two days later, my changes were gone and replaced by a different template version. Bluehost’s system had overwritten my site without warning. I contacted support, and their attempted backup restore that did not recover my content. Despite this malfunction, they refused to issue a refund. I expected a reliable, functioning website builder, which they failed to provide. They are negligent and they insinuated that it was my fault stating that something like this can only happen by someone who has access to the account. If this is the case, and I am the only one outside of their organization that has access, then someone from their organization did this. If not, then it is a software/system defect and they are not to be trusted.

They throttle the speed to unusable levels after a week and tell you to upgrade to plans which are not even needed for a single website. upgrading doesn't fix anything either.

Terrible customer service! The webpage goes down about every month, sometimes the links just stop working and no one can fix it. I'll spend two days trying to get them to fix it and they usually try to sell me something new (like design service, or more malware protection). But then the next month the site breaks again. It has been the worst hosting service I have ever used.

After 12 years as a Bluehost customer, I can confidently say their service has degraded beyond belief—and their business practices are outright predatory. For over a decade, my experience with Bluehost was tolerable. Not great, but functional. That all changed when I upgraded my service last year, expecting better performance. Instead, I got constant problems, downtime, and sluggish performance. I spent countless hours with their support team, going through the same useless troubleshooting steps, only to hear, “We’ll move you to a new server—that should fix it.” Finally, I agreed, only to be slapped with an exorbitant extra charge just to move my account. But guess what? It didn’t fix anything. Frustrated and exhausted, I left Bluehost entirely. You’d think, after paying for two more years of service upfront, they would at least offer a partial refund for the time I won’t be using. Nope. They flat-out refused. So not only did they fail to deliver on their promises, but they also kept my money for a service I won’t use. Bluehost has become a cash-grabbing, customer-hostile company that preys on long-time users with deceptive upsells and pathetic service. If you’re considering Bluehost, run in the opposite direction. There are far better, more ethical hosting providers out there. Final Verdict: 0/5 – Avoid at all costs.

A complete disaster. It’s taking me a week to restore my email and renew my subscription. Avoid using this website and the customer support is inefficient.

Absolutely the worst. Customer support is incapable of helping. You will spend hours with offshored support that uses accent correction so it will be nearly impossible to understand them Most of their 'paved path' does not actually work. Buying their live support for your blog is horrid. You might was well find homeless person, give them 5 bucks and have them help

Dishonest and Complicated – Avoid Bluehost at All Costs I cannot stress enough how terrible my experience with Bluehost has been. This company is dishonest, disorganized, and downright frustrating to deal with. I was promised a refund for services I didn’t use, and instead of a smooth process, they turned it into a nightmare. First, they offered a partial refund instead of the full one I was entitled to, even though there was no clear policy about non-refundable charges after 30 days. Then, they made the refund process overly complicated, insisting I set up PayPal or accept a mailed check—neither of which they followed through on. When I escalated the issue with my bank, Bluehost lied to the bank and reverted the dispute, completely ignoring my valid claim. This company will do everything to avoid accountability. Even now, I’ve received nothing close to the refund promised, and I’m still waiting for a check that may never arrive. Bluehost’s customer service is a joke—unhelpful, dismissive, and incapable of resolving even the simplest issues. Their policies are unclear, their promises are empty, and their actions are outright deceptive. If you value your time, money, and sanity, stay far away from Bluehost. There are far better hosting providers that won’t cheat you or make you jump through hoops for money they owe you. This company should be ashamed of how they treat customers.

Issues come up with any company. My problem is tech support. About one-quarter of the time, I get someone knowledgeable to help me fix my problem. The other times are total frustration and a waste of time. I am moving away from Bluehost. Like one reviewer stated, one star is being too kind.

I've been a Bluehost customer since 2010, but my experience with them—and their parent company, Newfold Digital—has gone from bad to worse over the years. Upgrading to a dedicated server was supposed to be a game-changer for performance and speed. Instead, it turned into a nightmare. After paying $100 per site for migration, my websites were down for an entire week. Once they were finally back up, speed tests revealed my site was actually slower than before. Twelve months into my expensive 3-year plan, things deteriorated even further. My site started experiencing major issues, and despite hours of troubleshooting with Bluehost's support team over a period of 3 months—alongside my own team of 4 web techs—they couldn’t resolve the problems. Their "solution" was to blame outdated hardware and pressure me to upgrade again. When I requested to remain on the same dedicated server plan but simply move to updated hardware with better resources, they gave me two unacceptable options: 1. Forfeit the $1,100 remaining on my current plan and pay more for modest improvements. 2. Upgrade to an outrageously expensive plan, almost doubling my costs, and with no option to ever downgrade. This level of greed and inflexibility was the final straw. Rather than throw more money at a company with such poor customer service and hosting quality, I walked away and ate the $1,100 loss. I would not recommend Bluehost or Newfold Digital to anyone. Their upselling tactics, lack of transparency, and inability to deliver on promises make them one of the worst hosting providers I’ve ever dealt with. Stay away.

One star is way too much for this company. They deactivated my account due to fraud (for the same card I use daily and used ever since) without informing me, I kept trying to find a solution with them and nothing. All agents give me different reasons. Finally after 10 days I receive an email asking for my documents to prevent fraud- - only once my account is locked. I once again contact customer support and they say it is an email just in case I want to work with them again!! 15 minutes later I receive an email saying my domain is locked for one year... when wanting to start a small business.

I just signed up for Bluehost, and within the first 24 hours, my site has been down for over 10 hours. I chose Bluehost because of its reputation and premium cost here in Thailand, so this is really disappointing. All the can support can only do is tell me to wait and all their customers are in the same situation. It’s been a frustrating start but it's too late for me. I'm uncertain if they are able to give me any assurance about the reliability moving forward as the support job is to deescalate and turn down complains. Please consider your local hosting services before going for them based on my experience.

Bluehost is an absolute nightmare! Do yourself a favour and avoid it at all costs. Their so-called 5-star reviews? Completely fake. The support team knows nothing—literally zero. If you have an issue, brace yourself because not only will they fail to fix it, they'll make it worse. Every time you call back, you'll have to explain everything from scratch to a new clueless agent who apologizes and promises to help and then adds a fresh problem on top of the original one. It's an endless loop of incompetence. After wasting countless hours and days talking, providing numerous screenshots of the errors to many agents who don't know what they're doing, their final advice is to hire a developer—out of your own pocket! Why am I paying for your mistakes, Bluehost? Shouldn't fixing your mess be free? Meanwhile, your site is live, and instead of promoting it, you're stuck on the phone, begging for a manager who's always conveniently "unavailable." When you finally get through—not to a manager, but a supervisor—after an hour and a half, the call drops because he can't hear you! Does he bother calling back? Of course not. He just moves on to the next victim, leaving you with the same unresolved issues. What a joke!!!! I even called back AGAIN and asked for the same supervisor. They assured me he'd call back in minutes, but surprise—it's been hours, and still nothing. That's why I'm spending my time writing this review instead of waiting around for a callback that's never coming. If you're a developer like me looking for professional hosting, Bluehost is the absolute worst option. They can't handle something as basic as charging the correct credit card. Despite clear instructions, they'll still charge the one you told them not to. Now I have to call them back yet again tomorrow, but this time I'm done with supervisors—I'll be demanding a manager. I wouldn't even bother calling if my site wasn't already live. I'd wait until my domain expires. But until that day comes, I'll ensure everyone hears about your terrible service.
