I would strongly recommend anyone to avoid this company. It is the worst annuity company I have ever had to deal with. Over the last 20 years I have been a Trustee and Durable Power of Attorney for numerous people. Brighthouse Financial has been the most difficult and time consuming financial company I have experienced. Over 20 hours of my time has been spent trying to resolve simple issues such as account statement access, power of attorney, mailing addresses, and tax forms being correct. Brighthouse has repeatedly made the same errors and same unmet promises to correct their errors. The customer support agents are often difficult to understand. The systems to get help are cumbersome and deeply bureaucratic. Rather than give good and prompt feedback to help resolve issues the typical responses are "you will have to wait for the mail." Oftentimes the issues has been that I never received the mail or received the incorrect or wrong forms from their mailings. Their agents are resistant to provide a supervisor for assistance. They don't provide an opportunity to have email communication or follow-up on time sensitive matters. I have dealt with numerous financial companies and I readily admit most are straightforward when you have the proper forms and experience as a Trustee or POA. Unfortunately Brighthouse has been by far the worst company I have dealt with. Their errors and lack of good support has cost me and numerous people I represent unnecessary time and money.

At one time I was able to access my life insurance account online... but when checking lately when I could not access, they simply said "YOU CAN'T". What??? How archaic a system do they have???? Wooden tablets?? Seems like they are trying to hide something.. and make access probably impossible for my family if and when I pass. If this continues, I'll report them to our State board....

Terrible company - sent me a letter with a big premium increase and stated “rest assured , your premium won’t go up again for another five years “ . One year later , received another premium increase of 12 percent (over $100 ). When I called to express concern and referenced the previous letter with the promise to not raise rates for five years - they said it was a typo ! They refused to let me talk to someone higher up . They make it very difficult to cancel the policy - highly bureaucratic!

I have an annuity with Brighthouse Financial and every year when it is time for me to take my annual distribution there is a problem. This year it is that I didn't include a Purchase Acknowledgement form with my application. Did they tell me that I needed this form - NO. I sent my application as usual but never received my money. Now I have to wait 3-5 business days before they even mail it to me. It is my money - why do they make it so hard for me to get it?

This company has inept employees. I am so infuriated that they took over from MetLife. I had great help from MetLife, Brighthouse doesn't have it's act together. I have been transferred on one phone call to 7 different people, none of them were knowledgeable as to what I needed. Each rep gave a different answer to my question. I never can speak to an American representative so there is a language difficulty. The reps try and over talk you when you voice your frustration with their poor customer service. I want to move my monies from their incapable company today!!

This is possible the worst annuity company i have ever seen. After a request for a full pay out at maturity they annuitized the contract anyway. I spent weeks going back and forth with e customer service director. What a joke that was.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I was a beneficiary of my deceased friend through a Bright House Annuity, something I wasn’t aware of. Bright House reached out to the policyholder’s estate to locate me and give me the Claim papers to complete. Once I received the necessary paperwork, I contacted their claims department. The representative who assisted me was incredibly professional and friendly, providing clear answers to all my questions. Just 10 days after submitting the required documents, I received a check for $300K in the mail, arriving in a standard envelope. The whole process was efficient, and I’m grateful for the smooth experience.

They are awful! Customer service “Marge” (doubt that’s her real name, is extremely rude and unprofessional. Don’t bother emailing them for anything because they NEVER respond. Then they will block you! They lie and say one thing and when you call back and talk to someone else, the say something completely different. You can tell they don’t care one bit about your call or issue and just want you off the phone. Their professionalism or lack there of, is unbelievable!

Horrible company with terrible customer service. It’s impossible to talk to someone who knows what they are doing. Every time I call I get a different answer. I am going with Hartford through my job for my Life Insurance now.

Worst experience ever with a company. Great at taking the premiums for years, pathetic at paying anything out. Overseas "customer service" - you will get nowhere. They find a problem with your claim form, you fix it, they find a different one and it keeps on going. I am going to file a claim with the Federal Trade Commission. Dont waste your money.

The absolute worse company I have ever dealt with- I agree with all of the reviews. I couldn't find a good one. The subcontracted customer service outside of the United States and it is not working. I have not been able to access my money for 6 months.

The worst customer service EVER, told erroneous information, wavering opinions from various inept people, and very little reimbursement considering all the money we paid out. I would NEVER use this company AGAIN.

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Brighthouse Financial. I tried multiple times to reach out via texts, emails, and even faxes, only to be met with complete silence. It’s beyond frustrating when a business fails to acknowledge customer inquiries, especially in this day and age where communication is so vital. Their lack of response not only shows a blatant disregard for customer service but also raises concerns about their professionalism and reliability. I expected at least a basic acknowledgment, but it seems they don’t value their customers’ time or concerns at all. If you’re looking for a business that respects its customers and maintains open lines of communication, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience was disappointing, and I won’t be returning to Brighthouse Financial. Save yourself the hassle!
