An auction house cannot completely circumvent the Sale of Goods Act by stating they are not responsible for faults in descriptions. While auction houses may have certain disclaimers or limitations of liability, they cannot entirely escape the obligations imposed by the Sale of Goods Act 1979. Specifically, they cannot use contract terms to limit their liability for supplying faulty or misdescribed goods to consumers,especially if it is fraudulent.I have reported them to Trading Standards in Brighton,and i intend to push this matter as far as i can to prevent other purchasers from being conned by this spiv.”
“Deceptive Descriptions and Rude Auctioneer – Avoid This Auction House
I had an extremely negative experience with this auction house and want to warn others. I won an auction for a piece of jewelry described as containing 7.5 carats of diamonds. After traveling to collect and paying for the item, I discovered that the actual diamond weight was around 4 carats – far less than what was advertised.
When I raised this issue, the auctioneer was incredibly rude and dismissive. He outright told me that he could write whatever he wanted in the description and that it didn’t matter. This is an unacceptable attitude from any business, especially an auction house where buyers rely on accurate listings.
Rather than addressing the clear discrepancy or offering any resolution, they simply referred me to their terms and conditions and banned me from future auctions. The level of unprofessionalism and dishonesty is truly shocking.
I would strongly advise anyone thinking about bidding here to be extremely cautious. You cannot trust the descriptions, and if something goes wrong, expect no help – only arrogance and poor customer service.
The two ladies who worked there were polite and professional, and I had no issues with them.
I almost never write reviews and always try to resolve issues amicably, but in this case, the auctioneer seemed determined to ban me publicly and made it very clear that they never wanted me to buy through The Saleroom again.”
“The Auctioneer was so rude and unhelpfull after they admitted to making a mistake by not sending me any sort of valuation via email first I had to pull my items as Auctioneer did not want to sell any of them and said I can't be doing with all this. Shocking behaviour to as customer and STRONLGY RECOMMEND YOU GO ELSEWHERE. absolutely no customer relations from one of the rudest men I have ever had the misfortune to come across.”

“I bought a box of what was described as 'LARGE QUANTITY OF BOXED HORNBY, BACHMANN SCENERY, TRACK, OO GAUGE ACCESSORIES'
On receipt I found over 90 of the items were Maplin phone sockets and adapters - absolutely no mention of these in the description - just a blury photo.
Amazingly they take no responsibility of their misleading description. How can you omit what turned out to be the majority of the lot in the description. Buyers beware, if you can't view the items in person avoid buying from this Auction House.

“I purchased a single lot of studio pottery on a Thursday, paid for it on the Friday and asked for shipping. On late Friday B&H replied that they coould not ship. On Monday I looked for a courier. On Tuesday and Wednesday I received some quotes. On Thursday I accepted one of the quotes. On Friday I had confirmation that the collection would be made on the following Monday. In the meantime B&H had reported me to Saleroom.com who made no distinction between not paying and not collecting and banned me from the website which meant I could not register with any auction house. Alll that within one week! Utter disgrace and huge impact on my business.”
