“I've bought a few things and rented from Calumet a couple of time in the past before my most recent rental. I've always received very good advice and service from everyone I've dealt with. On this particular occasion there were a few issues (not helped by the fact that I'd made the booking last minute and certain equipment was understandably not available), the main one being that I took away a pair of PocketWizard Plus iii's rather than the Air Remote for the Profoto D1 strobe setup that made up part of my rental, and wasn't aware that HSS wasn't supported which affected the shoot. The other being a missing cable for the transceiver which forced a second trip to collect. I had a discussion about compatibility up front and whether I'm correct on this point or not I did feel like I should have been made aware that the pocket wizard/profoto D1 combo wouldn't allow me to shoot over 1/160th without the mirror blocking the sensor. I didn't mention HSS, but 1/160th being the fastest shutter speed achievable should probably have been mentioned. On raising my concerns with the communication issue I'd experienced, I was absolutely delighted with the way Mark from the rentals desk in Manchester handled the situation. I went from a calm state of quite pissed off, probably never to use Calumet again, to feeling like a highly valued customer in just a few minutes. You have a cracking employee on your hands there and he absolutely deserves recognition for it. Nice one Mark.”

“I ordered a lens from you at the Birmingham show and was told that it would arrive in two weeks. After two weeks, and no contact from you, I called and was told it would be another week. One week later, still no contact but I was then away. The following week, while I was away, a note from FedEx was pushed through the door saying they had tried to deliver a parcel. I had no idea who it was from. The parcel was finally delivered today, containing the lens, four weeks after I had ordered it. Amazon is my benchmark. They keep me informed and tell me when things are going to be delivered. You are the total opposite! Who do you think I will use in future?”

“After checking verbally with one of your agents on March 31st I went ahead with my order as I was due to away and required it before April 15th. The order is a sigma 150-600 lens and a USB dock. I was told that it would be a week for delivery. After 9 days as my order hadn't arrived, I phoned and was told that you would now order it then, I asked wha then as you had already promised me it would only take a week. I explained to your agent that I needed my order by April 15th or I'll cancel and go elsewhere. I was promised my order would be delivered by Thursday lunchtime, so I agreed. My order did arrive but minus the USB dock so yiu can imagine how very disappointed at at being misled I am. I have emailed your "customer care" asking it to be escalted ti higher management, as yet no acknowledgement or reply. This whole episode has been very disappointing and annoying for me. You need to tell customers the truth. I am still awaiting my USB dock and I'm not holding my breath as goodness knows when it will arrive. You had my money for 9 days before any action, which was instigated ny myself, was taken. I am away on a 4 day shoot without the lens and USB dock I wanted to use. So it would be only correct if you would answer the points I have raised in this review. I await your comments with interest.”

“The young lady (Edinburgh Branch) spent quite an amount of time looking at my exact needs (a backpack) to ensure that I had the right unit for the job. I was looking at the Manfrotto range, but asked about another make. She took the trouble to locate the correct size of one, and pointed out the substantial wight difference that this would incur. Nothing was too much trouble, and all with a smile! Many thanks.”

“Hi. Recently purchased an X-rite Colormunki from Calumet. I have never bought from this store before but I gave it a go primarily because of their very competitive pricing. The item was quickly despatched, arriving the following day - can't get much better than that and it was well packaged! I did encounter a problem with the setup procedure but was helped very politely and efficiently by a chap with the name of Raj. Top marks to him as well. As you may have already gathered I was more than chuffed with all aspects of the deal. Jim.”

“Great online experience. Quick and easy to find what I wanted. Swift payment process - with no hiccups. Great website, and excellent range of stock. Competitive prices too. I used to use Digital Rev (in Hong Kong) as their prices were highly competitive but it seems Calumet Photographic are on par with them. Decent prices, quick & painless checkout experience, wonderful range of stock. Will definitely be back - to purchase or hire. Excellent service overall. I would definitely recommend.”

“The salesman was knowledgeable about the product and fully acquainted with its workings which he was able to demonstrate. I went into the shop merely to look at a lightweight tripod and came out with it tucked under my arm! What else can I say?”

“Calumet is a longstanding, well respected Photographic firm with who I dealt with in my need for all things photographic in the 1980's. They gave an exceptional service then, combined with quality goods, next o none. I was forced to give up my darkroom, when I moved, and picked up digital photography thirteen years ago. It was a different game then, and the software very basic, mostly working to jpeg quality and small size prints. In my film days I worked to 20x16, mostly monochrome and I exhibited, as far as Australia. I loved it. I am now 80 and have just got my first full frame DSLR, I work in RAW and Monochrome. Together with my Nikon D750, I am able to replicate in Photoshop6 what I did in film and wet processing. How did find Calumet again? I was checking on the internet, looking for a sturdy hard case that could be pulled rather than being carried. Up came Calumet with just what I needed. What a surprise they were still out there. I placed my order, paid by PAYPAL, and was delivered the next morning, free, by courier. Excellent service. I needed to clarify several points on the foam inlay, so I later telephoned them. Just like the old days I was received courteously by Adrian and his help was invaluable in providing a snug well fitting home for my new 600mm lens. Thank you Calumet and may you prosper well into the future. I will beck back. You are marked on my Favourite list in my browser. Peter Talbot”

“Dismal service, I bought a new camera and some studio equipment, all confirmed, even rang to confirm I could pickup that day from Drummond street. When i got there they could not find my order, then spent the next half an hour looking, in the end they did not have the whole order so had to leave half of it. The system doesn't work and the staff have little to no common sense. Won't be returning any time soon.”

“Ordered 2 items on Thursday before 3 pm with next day delivery. On Friday 1 item got deliver another went missing. I phoned customer service and was told that FedEx lost my parcel (backdrop - 3 meters size box) and promised to get it delivered before 12 o'clock on monday. now its 2pm on monday and I still haven't received the item. very annoyed”

“I've used the service of Calumet Manchester a number of times. Their service is the top level; staff members and the manager are always friendly, approachable, listen to my feedback, and tried whatever they could to make sure I was happy with my purchase and the products. On a couple of occasions I had to return my Nikon lenses, but it's due to the consistency/quality control of Nikon. On each occasion there was no trouble at all, and my return and refund went smoothly. Their trust in customers and readiness to help customers make me feel always want to go back to them when I need any new stuff. It's great to know I could trust and rely on Calumet Manchester.”

“I was trying to decide between two lenses but couldn't find them both in stock anywhere locally. The Manchester branch of Calumet arranged to have both lenses available for me to try with my own camera body, so I could compare their performance and physical properties. After making my decision, i was able to price match the lens with other suppliers and so received excellent service and a very good price. Thank you.”
