I have bought a few used cars for myself and my son and I have to say, Carfax has been a tremendous help for me. Every time I want to buy a car I run a carfax report using the VIN number. This has saved me a ton of grief. In the past when we didn't run the carfax, I ended up buying a toyota which later on I learned it was a salvage title. I also bought a honda without running carfax, and the transmission died at $60k miles. So I learned my lesson the hard way. Every time I want to buy a used car, I don't even to go to look at it, unless I run the carfax first.

While looking for a reliable vehicle with good gas mileage for my daughter, I came across a Craigslist listed Toyota Matrix. Upon looking at car, it appeared to be in good condition with some bumps and bruises. I informed the owner that I would let him know the following day if and when i would purchase the car. He immediately began to use pressure tactics on me to commit to the purchase. This obviously raised my suspicions and I used the Carfax app. on my Iphone. What I found under that VIN number where numerous wrecks and the car being totalled. Owner had it rebuilt and tried to sell it to an unexpecting person operating in good faith. I sincerely am thankful for the service carfax provided to the point that I used the smartphone app on all the vehicles we were interested in until we found the correct car for my daughter.

I'd been looking for jeeps for a couple of months. I finally found one that I wanted to look at so I ordered a car fax for it. After recieving the car fax there was a link stating "other jeeps in your area". I clicked on it and found the jeep that I ended up purchasing. It was a nice surprise and a better deal.

After joining Car Fax on line I was asked tio register my recent purchase of a different auto. I can not make this happen. When I have entered the license number ( prior to that my vin) the survey registration will not go any further, I did ask for assistance from the prescribed address on your web site. No return. I guess I'm not seeing CarFax as a very helpful organization. Thanks Don Pabst

Big thanks to Carfax! Its pretty good for those who want to by any car can go through the report and buy with out any thought. In my case i am fully satisfied with the carfax report and bought my car. Report shows every service ,repairs and damages and what not, done for the car. You can trust always. I never felt that i bought carfax account for money and its waste of effort.

I found a great Lexus RX at a dealership which they were eager to show me the clean Carfax. Four years later I go to sell it and pull the Carfax to potential buyers and "BAM!" there's an accident reported on my car 4 months before I bought it but not showing on the Carfax until a year later. Thanks assholes! Now can I win the Car Fox so I can put a noose around its neck?

The display of the service plans are really confusing and I was deceived by it. And the customer service was really hard for me to communicate with and they did not satisfy me by admitting their misrepresentation. AutoCheck, the competitor of CarFax, has the quite similar quality of the report but it has much lower prices for seemingly similar service plans. But the unlimited plan of CarFax is even less economical than it seems. The unlimited plan of CarFax, one of all the three plans, is limited to only 5 reports for VIN number so it is NOT unlimited. The other two plans (1 or 5 reports) deal with VIN# and Plate# equally. But there was no description about this distinction (VIN# & Plate#, or VIN# only) on the purchase page (The below URL). I found out that it mentions only U.S. License Plate for the unlimited plan after I purchased it. (The thing is that the other two plans do NOT mention either VIN# or Plate# so I did not even compare these three plans from this perspective). I asked them to refund it but they did not think that it is misleading. How would you guys think? For me, this is really misleading information. I would not have bought this plan if I had noticed it. https://secure.carfax.com/creditCard.cfx?partner=CAR_0# http://support.carfax.com/articles/Question_and_Answer/Does-CARFAX-have-an-unlimited-reports-package/?l=en_US&fs=Search&pn=1

I recently purchased a 1992 Subaru Legacy L station wagon, but not before Carfax confirmed the vehicle was in no major accidents and had a fairly up to date maintenance report.

Quick and simple. Gave an accurate History of the Vehicle I purchased. It was interestering to listen to the seller explain the service history of the vehicle, as it was matching the car fax info I had remember from the report. Also it would be good if after you purchase the one time report, if you could go back and add more reports for different vehicles, for a discounted rate. Erick

I was looking for a specific used/pre-owned vehicle, a Min Cooper and needed to be automatic and within a certain price range. I used the CarFax reports as a way to use my time wisest in shopping. It gave me a little snapshot of what to expect when making a trip out to see a vehicle. Inventory was scattered many miles from my home and my time/travel was not wasted. I found a car that had the history I was expecting and there were no surprises. Great shopping tool!

I was looking for a 5-8 year old car. I found a 2006 Ford with 110k-one owner for a good price. When I checked on CarFax I found out it had 330k-4 owners. I asked for my money back and received it when I threatened to call the police with the CarFax information. I since bought a 2008 CRV 82k one owner that CarFax had given good information about.

I recently bought a 2008 jeep grand cherokee and with the carfax I was able to make sure whether the car had any flood damage, accidents reported or any incidents. I'm very pleased to say that the car had no records. I also used Carfax to help a neighbor purchase a minivan with no trouble
