Carfax Buyback Is A Joke

“When looking for a reliable and affordable car for my 20 year old son, I used CARFAX to help me feel comfortable that I was making the best decisions about the cars I was considering. When I found the online advertisement for the 2010 Hyundai Elantra I finally purchased, the low mileage, maintenance history and price provided in the ad seemed too good to be true. Using CARFAX, I was able to verify that the mileage and maintenance history in the ad was accurate, the vehicle had no reported accidents or issues and the suggested value of the car was slightly higher than the asking price. After meeting with the owner I found that there had been a recent issue with the "check engine" light for which he had it evaluated and adjusted his asking price to account for the cost of the sensor replacement. I confirmed the same issue existed when inspected by a local mechanic prior to purchase, had the sensor replaced and my son is very happy with it. When a deal seems "to good to be true", I normally pass it up assuming it is not legitimate but CARFAX helped give me the peace of mind to pursue the deal and it was a great experience. Thank you, CARFAX!”

“Carfax certainly helped to ease my mind concerning our recent purchase. Spending thousands of dollars on a used vehicle is difficult enough but having the history from a non biased third party made it much less stressful. I know a reasonable amount about automobiles but it is so easy to hide past problems. I felt much better after reading the vehicle history and we bought the truck. Thank You Carfax”

“Carfax helped me sort through all the cars I was looking at on craigslist to find a nice one owner vehicle with no accidents. Without Carfax I never would have meet the great person who sold me the vehicle and found out we both had something in common. Both myself and his daughter were kidney transplant patients, I received a kidney from my mother and his daughter donated hers to her husbands. It was a very emotional car sale and I have Carfax to thank for helping me find the right car and make a friendship.”

“Carfax assisted my son and I with his very first car purchase. It showed us the transfer of ownership to various parties and maintenance records on a 2000 Toyota Camry, and using this information we were able to make a wise decision on it's purchase.”

“Carfax is a tool to use when buying a car. It used with other factors and some good ole common sense can help immensely. If you're not using Carfax when considering the purchase of an automobile, you prob shouldn't be buying that automobile”

“I was looking at a 2002 Mustang GT with only 126,000 miles, the seller dropped the price by $1000 and so that made me wonder as I had just come from a terrible ordeal with my previous car on which I should have done a Carfax report. Therefore I got a Carfax report and much to my delight no accidents, no damage, fully serviced, and worth about $1250 above retail book value. Thanks to Carfax I was able to buy this car with complete piece of mind.”

“I ran a car fax at my own expense on a 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe in Houston, TX and it came back clean so I arranged with seller for test drive. At that time the seller showed me the car had a "salvage title" from Maryland. What happened CarFax? You fumbled big time and wasted my money. My recommendation is to buy certified pre-owned from a reputable dealer.”

“The requirements for the perfect car were rear wheel drive, manual, and decent engine. I found this package in an Infiniti g35 coup. I was ready after a long search to pull the trigger because it looked immaculate inside and out. A last minute check of carfax revealed it had been declared a total loss and had a salvage title. I inquired as to the discovery and never heard back. Saved me a fortune!”

“I listed my car for sale, it went unsold for 1 month , but as soon as I bought and downloaded the carfax report not only did I sell the Tahoe, got more than book value for it, that does not happen if I dont get the report from carfax.”

“I WAS LOOKING FOR A CAR , THAT WAS AFFORDABLE, MY SON WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT. AND WANT OFF THE FWY. DUE TO OTHER CAR DRIVER ..SO I NEED TO CHECK ALL OPPORTUNITY. TO LOOK . I HEARD OF CARFAX... SO I PAID THE FEE. TO CHECK SOME CARS OUT .. IT WAS GREAT . IT TOLD ME IF THE CAR WAS WORTH PURCHASING IT.. NO ACCIDENTS . IF IT PASS SMOKE CHECK . “My old 1999 car died on the highway and I needed a replacement fast. Hopefully the same model if I could find one. I searched on Craigslist and saw several but nothing worth following, On the third day a gem popped up, but it really seemed to good to be true. A 2001, exactly the same model and only 19500 miles with a price of $2000. The VIN was listed so I signed up for CARFAX and ran the number. It checked perfectly so I dashed over to the location and bought the car after a quick drive around the block. The little old lady selling the car was glad to get rid of it and I've been smiling ever since. It is a gem and friends and family are asking if I can do the same for them. Maybe, but only if CARFAX says it's OK.”

“I had a choice of two cars on Craigslist, both 97 Corollas. One was recently posted, the other was already on Craiglist for a month. The cheaper one (ironically) showed a record of maintenance for the entire life of the car on the Carfax report. The other one (more expensive but in better condition body-wise and lower mileage) showed no maintenance at all. None. I went with the cheaper one despite the body appearance and higher miles. The other car is still for sale after over six weeks on Craigslist. Even more expensive Corollas are selling but not that one. It must have some other issues. Thanks Carfax for the decision assist.”

“Was looking to buy a car for the first time in 13 years! Was in the market for a used car but didn't know who to trust. Well I knew I could trust CarFax. After all I wasn't buying the car from them and they are well respected and independent. I narrowed my search and eliminated several cars using CarFax Almost bought a car from someone who showed me a CarFax competitor fact sheet. When I checked it against the CarFax information I realized he was not being truthful. I finally bought my 2006 Toyota Avalon from a company who advertised CarFax and I am completely satisfied!!”
