Avoid, Over the years have bought several items through AO.com which has been great no problems at all-HOWEVER this useless excuse of a Company they use for Insurance (Breakdown etc) is dreadful. You will be plagued with constant phone-calls, try and cancel and they bombard you with with letters and calls. I have written/Mailed and phoned and still 6 months on get hassled. My advice never ever take a policy with them......

Pretty disappointed with service provided by D&G. Today I’ve wasted over an hour hanging on the phone. When connected the customer service representative was quite rude and informed me that the last time an engineer called to the house no one was in to meet him. That is so untrue. My daughter was in and the engineer said he didn’t have the equipment to fix the machine. The customer service representative then cut me off. Very bad show D&G

Shocking service no washer for 3 months parts may or may not turn up from Italy don’t reply to emails or call back as promised

I cancelled a plan with Domestic and General back in August 2012, it was sent by recorded delivery and confirmed on the royal mail website it had been signed for. I did not get any renewal plans for it, so my understanding was it was cancelled. Then in August this year they sent me a renewal for £18 I contacted them to cancel, but also to refund the 7 years previous as the washing machine I did have, went on fire and had been gone since the beginning of August 2012. I have been in contact by phone and email and I get ignored, keep telling me I need to supply another policy. I didnt have a washing machine so what do I need another policy for. It was over three months until a second hand one was acquired and there is no insurance covering that. They are holding on to money that isnt even theirs, I havent agreed to them taking the funds from my account in the first place. The plan covered the Hotpoint washing machine I had, you do not cover fresh air, it was also cancelled before the renewal date in 2012. My friend has a cover with Homeserve, but it does not cover plumbed in items such as washing machines and dishwashers. This cover has nothing to do with the original washing machine. I would think twice before taking out any cover with this company, stealing money that isnt even theirs. Ive even sent them a picture of my washing machine ive had since December 2012 Its a BEKO, not a HOTPOINT. As usual its the company who make mistakes and then try blame it on the customer. They dont reply to emails, or when I make a call, nothing by letter since They have taken money without consent for 7 years

Even though the maintenance contract covered the controls as well as the boiler they refused to repair or replace the controls. This company is not to be trusted on a full maintenance contract.

I took a repair policy for my boiler . The initial visit was great and the engineer seemed to fix the fault . A few weeks later The boiler broke down again and when I tried to book an engineer but the first slot was over a week away. I was given the number of one of the partner companies - Hi Flow who I duly phoned . They sent an engineer who said he had to order a part but he assured me the heating was working and the hot water would be a bit Temperamental. 2 hours after the engineer left my boiler cut out completely . So yet again I was left with no hot water or heating . The partner company was now closed so I had to leave a message . The partner company phoned the next day and it took them all day to tell me that the part that is needed won’t be on until the next day and I can’t have an engineer until Monday . Pretty shoddy . I honestly wish that I had Never taken out the policy . It’s not worth the paper it’s written on . I could cancel but if I cancel I will be charged for the initial repair and I can bet it would be more than the policy . Luckily the weather is good at the moment and I can survive a week without hot water and heating . Please Don’t take out any policy with this company

Wish I had read the reviews before I used them. Domestic & General are not just bad they're useless. I spent two hours on the phone today, got passed from pillar to post and still not resolved. I'm on my second call to their "resolotion department" to complain (gave up on the first one after waiting 20 minutes to get through) and whilst waiting to speak to someone went into and wrote this review.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. was told i would be called within 24 hrs, over a week later i had to ring them. Then they lumber me with a so called upgraded replacemant tv which is actually a pile of rubbish. Even the suppliers of the tv agreed with this. C.E.O complaints office are dismissive and rude even in emails, when they can be bothered to reply. Nothing professional about this bunch of clowns at all. Would leave 0 star if the option was there. I am taking this much further but would advise others to keep well away from them.

Avoid ,avoid Very fast to take your money and convince you to take the plan then a complete nightmare after you pay . Unreliable and incompetent engineers.

Had my cooker replaced, repair or replace! It’s a free standing cooker with an induction hob. Who knew these hobs came in various output ratings? Me neither. The one they offered me seemed ok, couldn’t offer an exact replacement as that one was obsolete. Replacement totally underpowered, but they keep insisting it is “like for like” even though the new one has a power output of 1.8 compared to 2.5 for my old one, and their main reason for not taking it back - I had been using it! Well yes, for 8 days until I realised why I was having such problems stir frying. Got absolutely nowhere with their customer complaints and resolution “service”. Seems you have no consumer rights when it is a replacement - totally unacceptable! I now have to buy a new cooker and dump an almost new one. Like other reviewers I will not be renewing cover for my other appliances. THEIR REPLACEMENT SERVICE IS RUBBISH

Avoid avoid avoid! Sent my tv off for a repair it had a scratch on the screen waited 2 weeks to be told they have rit it off!!!!! They tried to offer me a cheap tv as a replacement!! I have had to pay out £200 to get a TV with same specs as my original but still havnt recieved it!! Honestly not worth the hassle!! They have poor customer service and speak appalling to the customers

Phoned last Thursday it’s now 8 day still no washing machine fix. It’s disgusting, we have 6 appliances with them , we will not be renewing

For three week, the engineer kept cancelling the appointment and later sent a letter that the product could not be repaired or that the cost of repairs would be ecxeed the limit for the first repair,we confirm that we have cancelled the plan as per it's term and condition, can someone believes that ? After denied my family cooking and buying take away every day, this is complete incompentent, unreliable company.

Wud leave-0 abs disgusting company. Used b great, not anymore. Engineers r hopeless. Constant call back, been without appliances for year.some customer service people are nice & seem to want to help majority are not. Been told by resolution team , very very rude, obnoxious, I'm a nuisance attitude, told me I had a choice one repair only.who were hopeless & wrote a repairable machine of. That I had to use them and same engineer or pay myself. I haven't got money. She was angry,ivbeen crying over an hour & switched all phones off so she can't call me back. Gone 7 months now without freezer fridge. They will always offer you low spec old cheap appliance from so.com & never give you like for like. They have sold all my contact details, so bombarded by nasty things, despite me telling them not to Please don't use

Useless !!! Washing machine not working properly. I had 3 different engineers booked and they did not fix the fault. Instead of exchange they are offering me 4th engineers visit. For every visit you have to wait a week ! I am without washing machine for few weeks now. AVOID ! Buying new washing machine tomorow and Contacting trading stadards.

Absolute disgrace. Can't get anyone to answer phones, continually on hold, passed from department to department, eventually get a recorded message to say that my call can't be answered right now. Rubbish

Horrible customer experience. Waiting over a month to repair my washing machine, keep getting told I’ll get a call back on 4 different occasions and no one calls. Got told the washing machine would be replaced if the parts not in the following day. The following day I called I was told there was a mistake and they can’t replace machine as I have a different type of cover but if I have been told they will replace then they will. Called back the next day and was told they can’t replace and can cancel the policy then I can buy a new washing machine? Fed up of dealing with these guys.

My washing machine needs repaired. Initially I was told I would have to wait 12 days for an engineer to come out. Fortunately I got a call to say someone could come in 5 days. They arrived and confirmed that parts were needed to be ordered, advised this shockingly could take up to 7days. I had no contact from D&G so I called for an update they put me through to Hoover/Candy, who advised me they have scheduled an appointment for 17days after the initial fault!! (I also would not have known about this had I not telephoned for an update. Not a great service or timescale for a repair!
